I knowthis guy who went to this tourney where he played HC for the first time. He got beat every round, usually by F-lord Crutch teams, mostly by taxi teams. After that he became a pretty ruthless player, even in friendly games.
Months later, he calmed down a great deal and is a lot more fun to play, and is one of the better people to play.
Does getting into a tourney make you more aggressive with your power gaming and playing?

I only get aggresive if someone shows up with an attitude. You know the guy..."Here I am with my FumundaLord team. Watch what I can do" Blah de Fricken Blah. Declaring that he knows all the rules and stuff like that. Where I play, even our tournies are a lot of fun. I don't like braggerts and such ruining the fun. Take 'em down hard and quick.
But hey, that's just me.
Just a thought.

i think so. for many folks when they play before ever going to a tournament they don't correlate losing with themselves. its more like "man that superskrull just took out spiral! cool!" regardless if it was their spiral or not.
BUT when they get into tournaments it gets more personal... suddenly they realize that its not the characters that are getting wiped out its them thats getting wiped out. it turns into a matter of keeping face and showing strategic prowess rather than just two marvel fanboys watching their favorite characters go at it.
after that i think its hard to go back... because while it is very fun to play for fun, there is a certain RUSH people get from competing in tournaments. and from there on out it is cutthroat "i'm the superior player" gaming, until the memory of the high wears off.

Good point. Anyone else?
I'm a firm believer in making an honest attempt to humble anyone who takes joy in ruining a fellow clixer's good time. I may not succeed, but they usually appreciate the effort, and we have a good crew down here.
