View Full Version : Painting... And loving every second!

I've just started painting figurines (Usagi Yojimbo Spun-metal figurines) and am debating with myself whether or not to start hacking up my Heroclix. First question:
Anyone seen Armitage III? It's an anime. Well, I think I could make a Hydra Medic into Armitage. Just a thought.
Second: Anyone Read DV8? What about a Sideways Bob? I'm thinking a slimmed down Kingpin, but I'm not sure I could make the guy buff enough.
Third: Anyone know how a Shinto Priest dresses? I want to do a Shinto Priest and a Samurai warrior, but I can't figure out which figures to use for them.
Fourth: Am I rushing into this WAY too fast? I mean, I haven't even finished painting my FIRST figure yet, and I'm so engrossed with this stuff that maybe I just can't think straight. Perhaps I shouldn't go hacking up my Clix figures just yet.
Opinions?

Speaking from personal experience, you might want to get a little more used to the modding experience through painting and perhaps minor conversions before you start creating a pile of clix body parts to create your Frankensteins ;) I only suggest this because it does take a little while to get used to all of the tools that are afforded to you in conversions, and I know I don't have an unlimited budget to spend on figs for modding fodder...

I strongly suggest cutting up all your clixs. Laying them all out in front of you and seeing what comes to mind. Who knows you could come up with the next wizkids game Japslaytion.

Geof, what did I ever do to you? I don't think I've been around long enough to have done anything to warrant such malice. I'm trying to be nice about this. I'm trying to give you the respect you deserve. Please return the favor.

Go for it! I would love to see Armitage.

For Samurai figures look for the Legends of the 5 Rings white metal figures. They come unpainted. The game was a mass combat flop but the figures are super nice and many retailes sell them for reduced prices now. They had armored samurai as well as civilian cloaths Japanese. Several were shinto priests as I recall.

I cut up a lot of rookies to make conversions. You can get yellow level figure cheap so what do you have to loose!

Good Luck,

Yeah, I have nothing to lose doing Armitage. Just a Hydra Medic. Don't have to cut anyone else up. I've already got all the paints I'll need for her, too. After a little more practice with the paints on my metal figures, I think I'll play around with some rookie Hydra medics. It really shouldn't be too hard to get an Armitage to surface.
