So if I am building a force for gencon (and need to present my team list at the start of the tournament), how does that work for lantern objects?

Like, can I make a 295 point team and add a different lantern each match depending on who I'm facing? Or is one lantern considered "part of my force" and I have to use it each time?

thanks in advance

You have to list all your objects at the beginning of the tournament and those are your objects for the entire tournament. Objects are as much a part of your force now as characters.

From p. 17 of the Blackest Night Rules:
You may bring up to three objects as part of your force to a game.

Correct what ever Objects you use, they must be used for every game.
So if you bring 2 Heavy's and a Light you use them every game, no switching out b/w rounds.

The new Army Sheet will have a place for you to list your characters, the ATA you might be using, and each object you are using. For Golden Age, feats would go in that table as well and there will be a separate section for BFCs.

Wait, does this apply to special objects I swap out too? Like, if I'm using the phone booth, vine, and I don't know kinetic accelerator, I have to list those three objects on my sheet and use them in every match?

And thanks for the responses.

Based on Norm's response, I would say yes.

And Munchoboy would be correct.

Eh, occassionally.

Wow, that kind of sucks. I consider object choice to be a very strategic phase of the game which can help to counter different threats throughout a tournament. Modern age already takes away feats and BFC. Now we can't even switch up objects in different rounds of a tournament?

I don't like that ruling at all. :disappointed:

I think the confusion here is that you no longer "swap out" special objects. You either include them in your build (even the ones with a 0 point value) or you don't; this is completely different than previous usage of special objects.

I highly recommend reading pages 17 and 18 in the BN rules, as they go into the new object rules in detail.

It's really no different than having the rest of your force "locked" for the event. It's not as if we can change the figures we play on our force from round to round.

Man, can you imagine how long events would take if that were the case?!?

Yeah, that would slow things down a lot :p

As far as objects go, I just carry them all in the one small box I have that holds the team I'm using for a tournament, dice, action tokens, etc. When I play a game I just take out the objects I want to use for a given match, and go.

I think that object choice used to be part of the strategy of a match. Now it's just a part of strategy of forcebuilding/planning for metagaming of a tournament.

Personally, I think there's already enough focus on teambuilding/metagame, and I'd like more of a "gametime" strategy/adjustments, as it requires more skill. And that's why I don't like the new changes to object placement.

But I'm just beating a dead horse, so I'll stop now. :p
