can we turn off Support and attack either close combat or long range combat with our Medics? Vampire Lackeys? Because my friend went ahead and taxi'd someone over to my Medic, put up a token, I immediately, on my turn, turned off Support and attacked him. He said I couldn't do that, I would have to heal him. I explained that optional powers are considered to be always on unless the "owner" declared it otherwise. It even states in the PAC, that I cannot even heal if an opponent was adjacdent to me or my target, and I can only heal friendlies, so I assume that Medics and Vampire Lackeys can engage in combat if you turn off the Support power, right?

What if the Checkmate Medic and Vampire Lackey fight each other? Can they injure one other, if the Support power was turned off?

thanks!

Tell your friend to go read the rules & PAC card he is wrong very wrong. You dont have to turn any thing off just attack away.

First thing's first---Vampire Lackeys do not have Support. They have Battle Fury. Orange on the damage slot, not yellow.

The power is listed as optional, so I don't know what your friend is using to say that you can't turn it off. Show him that the power says optional, as well as the rest of the power's description so that he can see your Medic is physically unable to heal an opponent, and show him the rulebook section which talks about optional powers. It is the second paragraph of the super powers section.
