We've been play-testing a new house rule with regards to taxies.
As follows:

A figure being used as a taxi gets only half it's movement(rounded up).

It's made for some very interesting games.

It certainly changes strategy and makes taxis less useful.

I don't see a reason for it, though.

We use a rule that taxis cannot use Running Shot to attack while carrying someone. We're considering a few other alternatives, like only being able to taxi someone of equal or lesser point value.

We started to use it so taxi's aren't the focus of the game. This way it's still usefull but requires more thought.

I don't think its an entirely bad idea, but I'd be worried about the skewing of the game heavily towards charge and running shot since these are now almost as effective as a taxi while cheaper. I realize a taxi-RS or taxi-Charge combo is still more effective than either solo and that taxiing is still probably best for rooftop assaults, but it seems like charge/RS would get a healthy boost.

Has this happened at all in your games? Also if the taxi has RS or Charge do they only get a quarter of their movement if they taxi while using charge/running shot?

Here's a good rule for taxi-ing:
Carrying other Figures: Flying characters may carry other friendly characters. There is no cost for picking up a figure, though a flying character must be in hover mode in order to pick up a figure.
To be carried, a friendly character must be adjacent to the flying character at the beginning of the flying character’s move. During the move action, count the flier’s movement squares as normal, including flight mode changes. At the end of the move, the flying character must be in hover mode, and must place the carried character in an adjacent open square. Flying figures can carry other flight-capable figures.
A carrying character cannot carry a figure who is carrying someone else or holding an object. The flying character receives an action token, but the carried character does not. The carried character may still be assigned any type of action after being set down.

Go figure, it's the BASIC rule. Quit trying to fix that which ain't broke.

I agree thats a very good rule for taxiing especially for tournaments. However it would make a very bad house rule as it is so widely used it would lend little uniquness to the games bcp001 plays in his house.

No offense, but I'm just tired of people calling for sweeping changes to the game, especially in the realm of taxi-ing.

One guy I know wants to make the game even more aggressive by allowing everyone to have Charge and Running Shot, then people who already have Charge and Running Shot get full move.

thats understandable. I've been one of those people and do believe taxiing could use some tweaking. But I think there is a genuine difference between threads calling for official rule changes and those asking for opinions on house rules as this one is.

I think they both have there place. As does your post and the opinion it expresses. I just feel its a little misdirected in this thread that is about a house rule that someone has found interesting to play with and thought he'd share with us.
