View Full Version : What is with LE Doctor Doom?
I found out that a tourney that i am entering might be offering le dr doom as the prize. my friend has dr doom, and he could whip aobut anybody's butt, so i checked out the stats of the le to see how good it is.
answer: it BLOWS!
sure, mastermind, perplex, and minons of doom are all good, but only 5 clics of health? outwit his mastermind and he is done for! hiow did wizkids get this carppy le out of the powerhouse rev? it's a conspericy? any seconds?
The LE Doom is actually a (derranged) Doombot, not the good Doctor himself.

if you'll notice the spelling its actually dr. doom and doctor doom
its different. the doombot was so advanced that it thought it was doom

It's a Doom bot who thinks it's Dr. Doom. If it was the real deal it'd be Victor Von Doom or something. Besides, look at how cheap it is to get all that...cheap flier, perplex, wildcard with Mastermind & Outwit. Plus look at his base, it's black not colored for arch-enemies.

I wouldn't say it sucks... It's one of the best LEs in CT.
I would rank based on usefullness:
1.) Supreme Scientist
2.) Doctor Doom
3.) Felicia Hardy, but not better than exp version just cheaper.
The rest are for my collection and will never get played.
The question remains as to Why is it so powerful and sought after:
1) 68 points. Perfect size for a support fig in a 300 point game. He's a bit much for 200, but i've seen him work to evil effectiveness there, too.
2) Perplex on the first click. 2nd cheapest Perplex in marvel, and by only 2 points.
3) Mastermind, making sure it keeps Perplex
4) It flies, making it able to carry somebody who can take damage for him and make sure he keeps perplex.
5) Minions of Doom with 10 attack and MM means that you never lose that 10 attack with your Sinister buddies unless your opponent concentrates on Doom. Not to mention the usual coolness of having a MoD Taxi
6) Two clicks of Outwit never hurt anybody (except your opponent)
7) At 68 points he's just above the line to MM to some figs with Invulnerability (R Sandman at 61 and R She-Hulk at 59), so no Riddler syndrome for him!
I think that about covers it. He is not a bruiser and shouldn't be doing the bulk of your team's damage. On the other hand, he's a wicked cool support piece that will make your opponents fear Perplex that doesn't go away.

are you crazy?! LE doom is almost as good as a rookie doom for HALF the points... this is the most useable mastermind character around because he doesn't cost a crazy amount of points. for mastermind charcters to work you need a lot of back up to absorb the shots, but you can't get a lot of back up unless you play big games.
for example: to play a rookie doom right you need at least 80 more points of support including shield, a taxi and a few other guys to absorb all the damage. so that is at least a 200 point investment on a character that only has 6 range and 10 attack that can easily be taken out with incapacitate, mindcontrol or outwit.
now with LE doom if you pack on the same amount of support you'll only equal about what rookie doom costs and LE doom has about the same numbers as a rookie doom for his most important mastermind click. so that frees up at least 60-70 points for anything else you might want.
also LE doom is a CHEAP PERPLEXER. LE doom is so cheap that you don't have to rely on him to be your main damage getter unlike the expensive r/e/v doom. LE doom costs about the same as doc oc but he has the ability to keep his perplex longer because he has mastermind. keep a cheap thug with LE doom and essentially doom has perplex for 4 clicks of damage.
LE doom is probably one of the most usefull LE's yet.
