View Full Version : Iron Man Movie
I read in a news paper that was reporting about the daredevil movie that one of the producers of the movie wanted tom cruise to play tony stark.
what do you think?
Thats Avi Arad - hes works at marvel, the head of the divison that deals with the movies (I forgot the offical title). Hes said he wants Cruiser as Iron Man, Cloony as Reed Richards, Trish as Sue Storm and possibly Nick Cage as Ghost rider.
I think Cruise would be very good as Tony Stark, but you should remember that with these roles (for movies that dont' even have a shooting script yet) they are more his "wishful thinking" then anything else. Cruise may end up being Ironman, but he hasn't been offered the role and, as far as I know, he hasn't accepted it, asked about it or is even interested in it.
Sometimes the last minute and/or unknowns are the best thing for a movie - just look at Hugh Jackman. Dougrey Scot had the Wolverine role but MI2 was taking longer to shoot then expected and he had to leave the X-Men. Hugh Jackman was hired AFTER shooting had already started (only a day or two). The thing happened with Viggo Mortenson on LotR, he came on board with the movie abotu a month and a half after shooting started, another actor had the role (I thinkt hey even shot some footage with him) it didn't work out so they got Viggo. Both of these actors have done great jobs in their roles and I have a very hard time trying to picture anyone else in those roles.
after thinking about it,i think cloony would be a better iron man.
Tom cruise is just not that "hard" as a character for iron man.
I followed the iron man thing when he was an alcoholic, and it was way before his time, meaning the story.
Ther has to be someone,"chisled",tough, and the quiet type, to be a true tony stark.
Sadly, SciFi.com reported recently that Leonardo DiCaprio was being considered for the part of Iron Man. :(

I don't buy that Leo rumor. Avi Arad has done a great job so far with the marvel movies and he has said that Cruise is his choice. Picking someone like Cruise shows that they want an older actor to play Stark, not a younger, 20 something actor.
Wow, I sure am glad they didn't get Cruise to do the Iron Man movie. I never knew he was in consideration awhile back.

Tom Cruise looks the part, but Downey Jr. is the part. He is perfect for the role.

I can't remember who was Rhodey, but I do know Samuel L. "Sith on a Plane" Jackson was Nick Fury.
I've heard that Tom Cruise actually is playing Iron Man. He's just such a talented actor that he's playing Robert Downey, Jr. playing Tony Stark playing Iron Man.
Doubt me, and he'll cleanse your Thetans.

Keep that mockery up and you'll find yourself as a disembodied, freeze-dried, non-corporeal entity in the bottom of a volcano being tortured by psychologists.

As you're new here, I feel the need to warn you that we don't particularly need any more of these silly, 'on-topic' posts from you. This is 'Another Realm'. The on-topic stuff is all reserved for 'General Discussion', and even then only sparingly.
Thank you.
