OK it is almost the best time of the year that is right FOOTBALL season. And once again it is time to sign up so if you are interested then post here, I have some folks from last year who want to play so they get priority, I would like to keep it to 12-14 teams again after that the talet gets too diluted. I dont think there any prizes. I wouldnt disagree with putting up Clix though if that is even allowed. Maybe one Fig valued at a certain amount by taking the last few ebay auctions and getting the average for it.

Auction takes way longer I've found, as a note. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it added 2 hours to my normal fantasy baseball drafting per league I found out.

Draft isn't for a few weeks (heck Preseason has barely started) we have used ESPN and or NFL in the Past, I'll be looking at them in the next week or so. NO prize is awarded just Pride ...although I really do want to participate in a sucide pool one year

I've used both NFL and ESPN. I use ESPN more lately but that's mostly because it's got an app out for the Iphone that I can use to check the scores on. Either one is fine though.

And what's a suicide pool? I don't think I've heard of that.

One downside about NFL.com... I don't think they allow you to have custom avatars for your team. Some people probably don't care but it's something most other leagues allow. I've used NFL.com in the past and it's solid. I think before it was free but only for the "standard league size" and "standard rules". It looks like this year you can have any league and custom rules for free. I wouldn't be opposed to it... although I hate the thought of my team having some carppy spider or the letter N as a logo.

I used Yahoo and ESPN last year. Out of the two, I much prefer ESPN. It was a bit easier to use, had a better layout, and I just thought it was better overall compared to Yahoo.

Anywho, the main reason I am posting is because I was wondering if there is ever some sort of draft strategy threads going on here or is everyone keeping their secrets/tricks to themselves? Like I said, I got 2 leagues going (12 and 14 players) and drafts will be towards the end of Aug (22nd and 29th).

Last year, I know that ESPN and Yahoo had apps. I had both of them on my phone. You can do more with the ESPN app as Yahoo wouldn't let you pick up players off the waver. I'm not sure if NFL had an app or not.

It's incredibly useful. Setting line-ups with the app on the go is huge. I used to have to deal with load times and getting thru all of the menus on the full websites before that. It's especially great for when you have Questionables up until the last moment and need to make a last second substitution.

No. I mean you have two different leagues, but they play each other for the championship. It's rather simple.

I meant the same players on the teams, otherwise you'll have to go through the whole draft process. The championship takes place in that third, neutral ground league. I can't seem to think of any other way this would work, unless we just calculate the stats and post them here.

Auctions are fun, but they take way longer than expected (at least for me anyways.) Still good times though, and more trash talking abound in an auction draft.

The one I did didn't take take that much longer than thew standard draft especially for me as I finished my roster before others and didn't have to stick around. I was worried it was going to take forever but I think it was about 2 hours or so to draft 17 players. The best thing about an auction is it isn't about blind luck. No one gets the best player just because they were lucky enough to get first pick. I was trying to think and in all the years I've done fantasy leagues and having multiple teams per year I don't think I've ever had first pick. I usually end up with like 7th pick it seems.

For a Seattle boy born and raised (except my 11 year exile/college life plus bumming around in Bellingham) I find that being a Seattle sports fan fills the "rooting for the underdog" quota quite nicely. I say Cleveland wins the loser award. Seattle is second. Of course, that means that Seattle is the ultimate loser, in that we aren't even the biggest loser. :ermm:

(For the record, we lost a Superbowl on questionable officiating, set the record for wins in a MLB season after losing Griffey, A-Rod and Randy Johnson...only to not make the World Series and then our only world champion was sold to carpet baggers from Oklahome.)

The Lions had a 0-16 season followed by a 2-14 season. Hard to top that.

The Tigers are not too far removed from tying the record for most losses in a season, and continue to disappoint after their world series appearance.

The Pistons are currently a pile, and with the NBA draft a lottery, that means we just got stuck with a crappy team.

If not for the constant quality of the Red Wings, we'd be screwed.

Seattle just has teams with their ups and downs.

And the Indians would be fine if not for their selling strategy. (see: Cliff Lee, CC Sabathia...)

The Cavs had a few years to make a good run, and just couldn't get it done.

For me as far as draft dates go, the only days that won't really work for me are over Labor Day weekend as I'll be traveling. Even then I could probably do that Sunday night but Saturday I'll be out and Monday I'll be at the VT/Boise State game.

So in my Colleges FFB Draft yesterday we had three defenses taken in the first 2 rounds. Brett Farve was selected ahead of Brady,Rodgers, Manning, and Brees. Someone selected Pat White and Steve Slaton. The Jets Defense was the first pick.
