I much prefer the dials that require the ring to turn. Much less chance of breaking the figure.

I totally agree with you. I remember when the change happened original in Hypertime. I loved it. It made the dial much easier to turn. Also figures like Blade in MM were not figures that broke off the dial when you turned it. A good example of this was ultimate Wolvie in the Ultimates set.

Many people are going to assume you mean let's get rid of the alter-ego dials...

But I agree with the OP. I traded my first edition IC for the second with the newer "H" dials.

Completely agree with OP.
Figures break all the time due to the other base design. In addition - you can make much cooler figures with the "H" design.
I wish blue flash or black flash had an "H" base!!!
(and also get rid of alter ego's)

a couple of months ago Ziran posted a thread asking about feedback for a new dial design.

so expect the dials to change in DC 75 or the set after
Some change is needed.
Mera is currently incompatible with Heroclix.

Here, here! I am with you 100%. I hate just having my Ring sitting in my box. It made it way easier to turn. Why Did they SwitCh in the First PlacE?

As long as they don't have a repeat of the Avengers set I would prefer H dials. The best ring mod I've seen was:
Someone cut the ring portion of the Clix ring so it was flat and then glued that portion to the side of a retractable string that came in a metal case. It was the perfect utility tool for clix. It could turn your dials and verify line of sight at the same time.

The Prez did the same thing with his. Bring back the H dial!

That has more to do with her insanely fragile sculpt design than the dial base.
I support being rid of Alter Egos. I do not like the concept, but most of all I do not like that of the small sets we have, they are then diminished to less new characters because there are variant sculpts/paint jobs. There are so many great characters that have not been made. I would rather have different characters, than 3 norman osborns,3 Peter Parkers, or worst of all 3 checkmate or assasin paint variants.
If there were a few variants as LE's I would have no problem with AE's. Or if the sets were bigger like the days of REVs, variants are fine. But when looking at 50+ characters and a bunch of them are variants. We are missing out of an infinite number of characters that could have been made instead. Love Heroclix, want more variety. my 2 cents!

Add my vote for a return to H dials (as long as we don't have a repeat of Avengers bases with the shallow H's and the unturnable dials.) I prefer not having to be extra-careful while turning the dial so that I don't end up snapping the figure off the base.
As for Alter Ego's, I haven't yet had a chance to try the nechanic, so I can't really give an opinion. I do like that the game designers are trying to be innovative. Let's just hope that the good concepts aren't given poor execution.

I have tried unsuccessfully a couple times. Stupid Bruce and Clark went down with a quickness.

You're missing the point of the OP, like Spider-Dave said. This thread deals with the physical make-up of the dial. By "AE", Emberwild meant "Arch Enemy".
And back to the OP, I want the H-Dials back too.
The other day I was playing around with my son and the clix I gave him. Let me tell you that Airwalker dial was a bad idea. I have no idea how the heck to turn that dial.

Yes I mean Arch-Enemy dials. Not alter ego.
I am also not a huge fan of alter ego but I do like the idea. If they continue to make them they should have a trait to change instead of a sp.

Since GenCon was won with two AE figs, I don't think it's going anywhere...
...Gotcha!
No, I can't stand the AE dial and I much prefer the H dial even if I has to use a ring.

I actually like those dials. Easy to pop open to adjust the sticker or shave the nub to make it click easier.
I'm against going back to H dials.
I miss the H dials. I have a collection of Scarlet Witch ankles from the first set to prove it.

I like the old skool dials. If you're just being careful they aren't that bad. The only ones that I'm really afraid to turn are Mera and Hela, and those are just cases of impractical sculpts.

I dislike both AE's, actually. Alter-Egos aren't for me, and the dials really are hard to turn these days. Though it looks like they're working on an alternative:

What's up! I so agree with you! But the cost of making that dial ring may put WizKids out of business and all... since this was just another one of the myriad cost cutting measures from WizKids.
Goodness only knows that plastic costs money... NECA may be forced to raise the price of boosters by $5.00 if they gave us our rings and cardboard elements back.
Even the dice got smaller in the BN starter set. Pretty soon, I'll be surprised if the figures even come painted pretty soon.
