I have V Captain America (17 defense with Energy Shield) adjacent to R Invisible Girl (18 defense with Defend). If Captain America is targeted by ranged combat, can he share Invisible Girl's defense value and then take advantage of Energy Shield to boost that value by 2 for a total of 20? Thanks in advance.

It's even better if you put him into hindering terrain and give him a defense of 21. I have a whole team based on that concept. Very hard to hit.
