C'mon you guys know how this works. Submit a battle and then the rest of us fanboys chime in with our $.02.
Here goes:

Batman vs. Daredevil

Dore
02/26/2003, 14:30
Batman by a red and yellow mile. It's not even a contest. Batman does research, throws a sonic Batarang, DD falls to his knees howling in pain, and Bats kicks his teeth in. 'Nuff said.

Batman versus anybody is going to be Batman winning in the end. The MAN has a plan for everything!!!!

Doomtoy

1. Batman stalks in, kicks the stuffings out of Daredevil, realizes at the last minute that DD is a good guy, and the two of them spend the next twenty pages figuring out how to take down Bullseye and the Joker.

2. Batman stalks in, gets the stuffings kicked out of him, escapes in the Batmobile or Batwing at the last minute, and uses what he learned during his opening encounter to craft a gadget that scrambles DD's supersenses, as well as a sonic weapon that will have DD rolling around on the ground in agony... and then realizes at the last minute that DD is a good guy, and the two of them spend the next twenty pages figuring out how to take down the Kingpin and Ras Al Ghul.

ok, so batman wins. how about...

green goblin vs. joker?

ColossusDA!
02/26/2003, 14:57
I'd probably take Goblin over Joker. Granted Joker is an insane genius, but Goblin is no pushover in the brains department either, not to mention his ruthlessness. I just give the edge to Goblin due to his physical advantages. That's about it.

Hulk vs. Juggernaut??

Valandar
02/26/2003, 15:05
Been done, many many times. And it's usually a stalemate, though Hulk has won a couple times.

zaurial
02/26/2003, 15:05
Hulk vs. Juggernaut??

um, it's inter-company, but ok.
juggernaut is my guess. hes; unstoppable! he was drowned in cement and lived. unless i am mistaken, the hulk needs to breathe. end of story.

hawkeye vs. green arrow?

kingpin20
02/26/2003, 15:09
I'd take Green Arrow because of his Expert bowmanship abilities.

What about Professor X vs. Lex Luther

Valandar
02/26/2003, 15:16
Battle of the bald, eh?

While Luthor may have the genius and the resources, one mental bolt and Lexcorp is without a boss.

Captain Marvel (DC) versus Quasar?

ColossusDA!
02/26/2003, 15:48
I'd take Quasar over Captain Marvel. Mainly because Quasar has a much broader cosmic conscience.

Valandar:

Check out Hulk #401 (402?) somewhere around there. Anyway, Hulk gets the bejesus kicked out of him in an Earl Sinclair t-shirt wearing Cain Marko. It's great!

Try this one:

Nightcrawler vs. The Amazing Spider Man!

Optic_Blast
02/26/2003, 16:50
I'd say the Spider Sense makes Nightcrawler's teleporting virtually useless. It's gotta be Spider-Man.

How 'bout... Cyclops vs. Bullseye

ColossusDA!
02/26/2003, 17:40
I'd definately take Bullseye over Cyclops. Cyclops possesses neither the necessary durability or reflexes/agility to adequately defend himself against Bullseye.

The_Spider44
02/26/2003, 18:14
??

Steve Shady
02/26/2003, 18:19
Nightwing cuz he is l33t.

Vision VS Magneto, eh?

ColossusDA!
02/26/2003, 20:37
Well the Vision/Magneto contest would come down to Magneto being able to affect Vision while in his intangible state. And also because I'm biased, so Vison.

zaurial
02/26/2003, 20:45
my guess: magento

next up: human torch vs. firestorm

Drashia
02/26/2003, 20:48
Firestorm, cause she's hot. Johnny wouldn't hurt a hot chick.

Thug vs Gangster

or

Samurai Jack vs Silver Samurai

Dore
02/27/2003, 02:18
Thug vs. Gangster ends with Batman swinging in and sending both of them to jail.

Samurai Jack vs. Silver Samurai. Jack takes it. He's got the willpower of a frickin' raging river and the combat skills to take on anybody, anytime. It usually takes big monsters to even touch him, as he hasn't really found an equal one on one (MAYBE the Imakandi, but since he didn't really stick around to fight them, it's undecided). Oh, and Hulk has been angry enough to knock OUT Juggy before, so it depends oh the anger level of the Hulk at the time.

Next...Prometheus vs. The Taskmaster.

W10002
02/27/2003, 03:07
Does the Taskmaster have a real wekness Prometheus can use? If Prometheus can be taken down so easily (well, a kick in the groin will do just that) what chance does he have in beating Taskmaster?

I mean, can Prometheus really find a weakness against Taskmaster, who can copy other heroes abilites?

.....at least that's my thought

Hey, how about a battle between two leaders? Dr. Doom (leader of Latveria) vs. Lex Luthor (leader of America)?

BlueAndorian
02/27/2003, 03:45
Well, let's see, at .02 cents per opinion that'll be...well....uhm...let's count
1. A doped up insensate Batman takes out DD without realizing he's a good guy.
2. Goblin blows up the Joker.
3. Hulk vs. Jugs...hrm...irresistable force ....imovable object....just depends on the writer's needs, I guess (no $.02 for me there)
4. Hawkey has youth over GA and outdraws him by .001 of a second. Both die, but Hawkeye is declared the winner.
5. Prof X vs. Lex Luthor? pulease, brain dead corporate mogul. Prof X by a landslide.
6. Quasar and Captain Marvel is another tough call. Quasar seems more versatile, but I'm not sure anyone can stop the big red cheese :D
7. Spidey almost took out the whole Xman team in Secret Wars. Spidey would whoop up on Nightcrawler.
8. Cyclops could probably take Bullseye IF he saw him coming, but I'm not sure Bullseye would let him
9. Nightwing against NightThasher. I'd love to say Night Thrasher cuz I think the character has lots of potential, but I've gotta give this to Nightwing because of his superior experience.
10. Vision would take out Magneto cuz logic rules emotion :D
11. I think the Firestorm in question is the DC version, and I think HE could take out Human Torch without working up a sweat, despite his comparative experience. His powers are just too ...powerful.
12. Lackey takes Gangster and Thug cuz it's real easy to customize Lackey by painting on clever names like Biff, POw, and Thud on their shirts.
13. Silver Samurai versus Samerai Jack? sorry mixed media, I can't handle it. no opinion.
14. I gotta go with Prometheus cuz I can;t see Taskmaster standing up to the JLA for more than a second
15. last opinion, Dr Doom, oh yeah Doom all the Way

Dore
02/27/2003, 05:20
I just chose Prometheus vs. Taskmaster because they both have similar abilities.

Dr. Doom wins this one. Luthor has VAST resources, but Doom's magical knowledge will give him the edge as he can use it to spy on Luthor without his knowledge.

How 'bout Marvel's Beetle (Abner Jenkins) versus DC's Blue Beetle (Ted Kord version)?

The_Spider44
02/27/2003, 08:54
A tough one, with Beetle's rise to becoming Mach-2 he's gained alot of techno-experience, but I gotta give it to Blue Beetle, after they gizmo-fight, Blue has the better hand to hand skills

I have to disagree on the Vision vs Magneto fight.

Magneto controls the magnetic fields as well as the electromagnetic spectrum.

Vision is an android. And therefore a good majority, if not all, of his components are based on some type of metal.

Can anyone else see the "big picture" here??

Even when phased/intangible Magneto will still be able to affect the Vision to some extent. Magneto once blasted Earth with an EM Pulse that pretty much devastated the planet. I think one lone android is toast.

Magneto isn't a push over. He wouldn't even let the Vision get the chance to phase.

BlueAndorian
02/28/2003, 17:10
Actually, Vision a syntheziod, so there may be little to no metal involved. Most of the times we've seen his insides (which is more than any other character I can think of off hand), most of the stuff looks plastic. Not like Red Tornado at all.

And my choice of Vision over Magneto was only made tongue in cheek, since Vision represents cold logic and Magneto a hot passion (he's sort of an emotional guy, I think). Logic beats emotion, right?

When it comes to comic book battles ANYONE can beat anyone else, depending on the writer's needs. Hence DD can beat the Hulk, Spidey can stand up to the Xmen one day and be challenged by the Toad the next. It all depends on the writer.

And I'm writing that Vision would clean Magneto's clock ;)

evne so, magneto can kill about anybody.

next up... thing vs brickhouse (see blood sydicate)

Dore
02/28/2003, 18:00
Thing. His fighting skills rival most professional boxers. True he's no martial artist, but he knows how to brawl and his vast fighting experience means he knows how to use every ounce of his incredible strength to it's maximum effectiveness. It's gonna take some pounding to knock Brickhouse out, but Thing comes through. Heck, the guy was giving Thanos some trouble in a hand to hand fight once. Thing may not be the strongest there is (Hulk strongest there is!!!), but sometimes it's how you use what strength you've got that matters.

Superman Vs. Tom DeFalco

Puuka
03/01/2003, 11:28
Vision Vs Martian Manhunter

GreenLantern04
03/01/2003, 12:22
Alright... My couple 'o bits on the current battles proposed:

1. Dark Knight vs. Man without fear? Batmang. It probably wouldn't take batman that long to realize the difficulty loud noises present to DD... and he's Batman. The man's a scientist fer cryin' in the sink.

2. Green Goblin vs. Clown Prince? I want to say Joker, just cause no one wants to mess with his head, but Goblin has much more mobility and Joker would really have to lure him into a funhouse to win this battle.

3. Hulk vs. Juggs? I'm saying the Hulk. I don't care about their previous battles. Mad, intelligent Hulk would clean up on Juggernaut.

4. Hawkeye vs. Green Arrow? I'm saying Green Arrow. Just cause Hawkeye can be such a punk.

5. Prof. X vs. Luthor? What about Luthor in the battle suit? Might be closer then, but Prof X can shut down Luthor's mind, and that's Lexie's real advantage anyway.

6. Quasar vs. Cap'n Marvel? This one would be close, but after reading Kingdom Come, I think Marvel is too much of a brute for starry cape/gold bracelets.

7. Spidey vs. Nightcrawler? Well, in clix form it's almost certainly nightcrawler, but in comics? I'm giving it to spidey, because of the strength, webbing and senses abliity

8. 'Clops vs. Bullseye? I think bullseye's got it in an initial confrontation, but in a duel situation... The clops has got more power

9. Nightwing vs. NightThrasher? Nightwing, no contest.

10. Vision vs. Magneto? I like Vision a lot, but I think Magneto has got it. I get the feeling that his manipulation of electro-magnetic fields would do a lot of harm to Vision, despite the fact that we don't really know if he operates using electricity or some other alien force.

11. The Nuclear Man vs. Johnny Storm? Firestorm can alter matter... so he could just spray water at the torch and cool him off. Torch hasn't got a snowball's chance...

12. Silver Samurai vs. Samural Jack? Don't know much about either, but on the basis of Jack's theme song, I'm giving it him

13. Prometheus vs. Taskmaster? That'd be a good one. If Taskmaster could mimic an ability that Prometheus didn't anticipate, he'd win, but I think Prometheus might figure him out.

14. Dr. Doom vs. Lex Luthor? Sorry Lexie, Doom's got you beat.

15. Blue Beetle vs. Beetle? I gotta give it to Ted, mainly due to my affinity for him as a child, and cause I think he's better hand to hand.

16. Thing vs. Brickhouse? Given it takes a lot to knock out the Brickhouse (and associated song), I think Benjamin Grimm's got enough ability and one-liners to burn down the howse.

17. Vision vs. Martian Manhunter? Hmmm... difficult. I think that though vision may have the strength advantage, J'onn J'onzz has too many powers (though his mental abilities might not be useful vs. the synthezoid)... not sure... I'm giving to Manhunter due to not enough respect out there for him.

Done and done

Dore

Superman vs. Tom DeFalco. Tom fires the entire writing and art staff and wins because there's no one left to draw Supe's book. 'Nuff said!

W10002
03/01/2003, 18:30
Tom DeFalco vs. Superman:
In the comic world, Tom hs no power except being a ruler of the comic world. If Superman had a physical fight with Tom, Superman would win because he's Superman.
However, assuming that Tom DeFalco is writing this battle, Tom would give himself tons of Kyptonite, and beat Superman to his grave. C'mon, Superman is Marvel's competition, there is no way DeFalco is goign to let DC run all over him.

As for
Vision vs. Martian Manhunter:
Um... I'm not quite sure on this one. I recall 'Wizard' once doing a fictional battle on this once, and Vision came up on top because of this powers as a robot...

Speaking of robots, how about Ultron vs. Metallo?

zaurial
03/01/2003, 21:18
probably ults. if it takes a human torch nova flame to kill him, he could take anothe robot.

next: braniac (all of 'em!the first-13) vs. the phalanx
