My dad and I are trying to use the characters that some EXTREMELY GOOD players use. Two of the characters my dad found that were used excessively by people who made it to the final rounds of major championships were Chief and Leader. He chose Chief and I chose Leader. I have built my team and he is currently building his. I would like to see how this works. My team is Leader(Mental Shields, Ambidextrous, Getaway, Outsmart, Contingency Plan, and Book of Destiny), Gee, Lightspeed, Mass Master, Energizer, 3 Moloids, Lois Lane, Ghost Widow, Man-Thing (Experienced, Not So Special), Swamp Thing (Rookie). I would like to know if this is how you use the Leader and if I need to change anything (this need to follow a 300 points of Modern Age Clix and 300 points of Golden Age Clix, 60 points of feats can go into anywhere and on anyone)

Is theme an issue? I'm going to assume for no reason that it is. Here's a Scientist thing:

MU The Leader 116 + Outsmart 10 + Getaway 4
SI Mr. Fantastic 100 + Brilliant Tactician 20
AV Wasp 49 + Spotter 5
= 304 points of Modern Age

IO Batman 102 + Stunning Blow 10 + Protected 8
HT Swamp Thing 73
SN Experienced Wizard 74
CT Scientist Supreme 23
HT Alfred 6
=296 points of Golden Age

By my understanding of how your scenario works, that should do it. Not a perfect team, but not a bad one. As far as objects you, I would use:

HA Mjolnir
MU Eleha'al Vine
Any heavy

Try to force your opponent to make a move on you by giving everyone a shot at Mjolnir. Most players will rush you rather than allow you to take your time playing with the hammer. Keep The Leader on top of it if you can, since it can't be moved or blown out from under him. Keep Swamp Thing on the vine so he can heal himself as Leader Masterminds onto him. From that point on, pretty much let Brilliant Tactician do most of the work.

That's 61 points of feats (remember, Ambidextrous = range value x 2) on one 116-pt. character...over half his cost!!! That's a terrible idea.

You need actual attackers. Leader is a support character mainly and 2nd attacker as well. In this build, though, he'd be doing ALL the fighting. He'll lose.

This looks OK, but the feats are breaking the 300-point mark on the MA half of the team...looks illegal.

Leader is still a prime attacker in this build, but he's got a very strong second — if not his equal or better — in Batman, who, more importantly, is lending his Bat Ally TA to keep Leader safe from shooting.

(Defense) Minions of the Leader: The Leader can use Mastermind and Toughness. When the Leader uses Mastermind, he can treat any friendly character 4 or fewer squares away to which he has a clear line of fire as if it were adjacent.

(Damage) Intellect: The Leader can use Outwit and Probability Control.

The Leader is good because you can really utilize his wild card team ability. I would say the biggest thing is, with Superman/Utilimates and Batman, he can see through Stealth and Outwit and PC characters; then, use the Batman TA to prevent any retaliation. Very effective against JL Batman and SI Skrull Ms Marvel.

The Batman TA can also act like a "free" Fortitude, so he can use his 4 ranged Mastermind, without fear of getting it outwitted, to keep him on his top click for a very long time.

Other good TAs are X-Men, Ultimate X-Men and League of Assassins ATA.

Mental Shields is great for Leader. Just make sure he's always got a Moloid that he can draw LoF to. I'd choose a map with elevated terrain and camp a moloid or two on a ledge close to leader. Keep in mind those moloids make great tie-up pieces, too!

I'd skip a keyword theme with Leader.

The Superman/ultimates TAs are a great Idea. How about using the Wasp with Ultimates from Avengers as a taxi?

The way I understood it neither part of the team (modern or golden) could exceed 300 points, but the feats could be from anywhere and be on anyone. That's what pushes one team over 300.

I dropped Mental Shield for my build because Leader is a secondary attacker in it and should be spending more of his time doing damage than mind controlling, which reduces your actual odds of damage somewhat.

And DO NOT play him as a major component to a team without Ultimates or Superman Ally. He absolutely needs them if he's going to make a big impact. If you play against a team where they aren't necessary Wasp can be Mastermind fodder and a taxi at least, but many teams feature a ton of Stealth and you'll be glad to have it.

MU Leader 116 + Coordination 6 + Alias 3
SI Doombot 5953 [x2] 80
HA Captain America 72 + Contingency Plan 12 + Vendetta 6
BB Yellow Lantern 5

300 Modern

SN Nick Fury 63
UL V Black Widow 59 + Stunning Blow 10
CT V Doombot [x2] 76
SN V Mockingbird 34 + Lunge 5
IO Starter Batman 47
HT Alfred 6

Doombots can enhance and use Shield TA. With Bat Ally TA, Leader can safely use coordination to shoot through (and mastermind through) the bots. Cap and Fury act as secondary attackers.

Wild Card abuse is a good idea with Leader.

Modern Age:
Leader 116
Iron Widow 118
AA Robin 66
= 300

or

Golden Age:
Leader 116
Iron Widow 118
Robin 20
Lockjaw 38
Joe Chill 6
= 298

This is a great idea for a 300 point team centered around Leader.
Just remember to keep your distance.
