What can I say---Crimson Dynamo is hard to pun.
For those who haven't seen WizKids' newest sneak preview, which can be found here on the HCRealms homepage, it's time to meet the Crimson Dynamo. Aside from being an Iron Man villain through and through, Crimson Dynamo's Limited Edition figure is also the first place prize for Xplosion's April Marquee.
Anything to say about the Russian wonder? Post it here!

Go-Go-Dynamo Hat! I believe there are going to be a lot of mods on this one figure. Everyone seems hyped to hose it down with metallic paint like they were hosing a model at a wet t-shirt contest.

No...it can't be...not him!!!
:(
My pineapple screamed "Survival of the Fittest!" throughout the entire evening...
And what do I get?
Rusty the Boy Robot (aii, don't flame, I'm stupid!).
Enough stupid jokes; well, I haven't read an issue with him in it, I actually haven't read anything Iron Man, but I can say I will have a great time painting him red.
And I think he would be a welcome participant in the upcoming "Red Nose Day" here in Germany.
Muahahahaha...

Anyone want to lay any bets that the paint job will still be lousy even on a character like crimson dynamo? The guy who's job it is to paint that one had it easy!

The only problem I have with the character..it really is small, I like him a lot...
is the damage inflation that seems to be happening with the figures that are coming out.
Beast with three damage...Crimson Dynamo doing five...
Before people jump on me...I just want to explain myself...
I don't mind some small concessions to make a playable game, but I don't like some of the choices made to weigh each thing out....
Like Batman...he should not be able to do three damage...even veteran form, he's not the heavy hitter on his team no matter how cool he is...he SHOULD have a high attack though....even in DC, nine ain't the greatest...it should be a ten at least...he is great and should be able to hit guys most of the time, but certain people, without outwitting their significant physical advantages, should be impossible for Bats to take on....
Similar seeming thing here. I am the first to admit I don't know for sure, and this is just a concern right now...I'll wait a month to find out for sure. But even if Crimson Dynamo has low stats, and from the game notes it looks like he's got pretty good ones still...he can do 5 damage? It's just a bit much to accept from a character that is not a team level threat...people like Thor, Doomsday, Hulk, Supes should be busting out 4-5 damage, not some Ironman villian (albeit a fairly beefy one). And the low number of clicks is just a cop out...giving above board skills, but then balancing the point total by giving a low number of clicks is just an easy way out IMHO. If a bruiser can hang for a while then give him the clicks...if it makes him some super point monster, then if it fits (like Thor or Supes) keep it, if not, then you have to look at some of the stats to see if marginal powers or some numbers need to be better fitted.
Beast too...I just don't seem him able to harm people like Juggernaut without having to use Perplex (though he might not even be able to hit Jugs..would depend on the attack stat, still the point remains). He might be able to confuse his opponent into harming themselves or whip up some attack boosting device to blast them...but straight up, there is no way my favorite blue furry genius is hurting the heavy hitters...
I'm sure we're going to have some updated characters with redone stats, powers, etc...as the game progresses, but I don't want figures being outmoded an expansion or two down the line. It's what happened in almost every collectable game I've played. I don't mind if some characters are a little off, (like Supes, we'll get another one so no biggie), but having some big names suddenly not as effective as people that they would cream in a comic fight just doesn't jive with me...heck it's why I accept Firelord...he's a Herald and if his point total is a little off, well the Power Cosmic comes with some benefits.
Now here to redefine "broken" (or perhaps "borken"), we bring in the good ol' Red Russky. Last thing we need is a Firelord with INVUL!
One more thing: 10 range with RCE and they expect him to be used as a brawler? Well maybe up against other RCEs

At least you pay for the big damage this time, with 137 points, whereas Firelord was only 97. I dont think Dynamo is broken, of course I never though Firelord to be broken either.
Woo Hoo! Finally.... a Rock-'em, Sock-'em Robots clix! Just get two and paint one blue!
i'll guess no, no idiot can possibly screw up a single colored figure. if he can ,i will be plesantly surprised. it's like, i open a booster, and he's all tie-dye! that would be cool, but stupid.

CD should have high damage. Iron Man is a beefy character, and CD's blasts are definately damaging.

Yes, you can easily repaint him for a DC Crossover...
Dynamo Red and Dynamo Blue... :(

sure, but you're gonna have a tough sell stating that Crimson Dynamo can dish out more damage than Supes, Thor, Hulk most of the time...etc...or even as powerful as some mere four damage figures like Thing or She-Hulk....these are bruisers in ways CD just hasn't been shown to be...
I mean maybe four damage...sure I'll buy that even for most of his dial, but 5 damage is pretty rarefied with only a few characters capable of doing it...and the ones that are Doomsday, Hulk some others...have been shown in the comics to be potential team busters, whereas CD is generally handled pretty efficiently by IronMan...
I just think there is some damage inflation going on, and soon there will be a six damage character, and then in an expansion later on to correct the previous damage inflation a seven, etc....

I don't disagree that there are people much more powerful, but frankly right now they're breaking every character down into a 1-5 damage tier, so it's pretty hard to evaluate. Does CD have the destructive power of the hulk at range? Sure that sounds fine, but then again should hulk do as much damage as superman or thor in the first place? probably not. Part of it lies in RCE too, sure dynamo is better shooting at people, but not twice as good, if there were a modified +1 RCE he'd be more in line probably, because i mean 3 damage and 2 damage at close range sounds fine, except when you consider 2 can't even hit invuln and this is someone who regularly goes against iron man who has invuln, luckily he's flying so you don't have to use close combat generally, but then we get back into the 4-5 damage area. All in all I'd say its just flaws with the system that you simply have to deal with.
unlike everone elses coments, mine are sort. I like him. :)
short not sort, ug

Actually, I totally agree with the +1 damage RCE...if only it was a real power...then things like Hawkeye doing 0 damage and Bullseye busting out four at range can be dealt with...
I was thinking, and a lot of minor problems with characters could be solved if they had a +1 Damage RCE...
And I agree it's some flaw with the system...though one that would be easily solvable by giving him a 3...maybe 4 damage, I'll accept that, but 5 damage should be the reserve of the very big boys...until a six damage fig comes out which is what I'm afraid of...

Exactly, if it were as simple as wizkids tiering the characters and saying 'if crimson dynamo attacks hawkeye, hawkeye dies' then all we'd have would be figures with no stats, and a big heirarchy list. The game aspect gets in the way of 'realism', but as long as it's not too bad who cares.
For instance even though I liked the original CD armor the best, I'll still probably end up using this figure, sounds like he'll make a solid addition for play-value.

Did anyone else notice that crimsion dynamo is just a stronger version of ultron, and firelord......they just gave him range combat expert, and SS..........and they need to come up with some new powers what are they gonna do for mystique?....any suggestions
I also agree that 5 DAM is maybe a bit large for this feller, and maybe a bit of perspective is needed to gauge some of the stats. Thor, oich. You know, if ever there was needed a power that said 'any successful hit from this fig (or ranged hit, or just melee hit) causes knockback', it might be somebody like him. Or maybe 'any successful hit total that equals an even number (excluding snake-eyes)...'
Speaking of the Russian Bloc superfolks, howzabout any of the Soviet Super-Soldiers? General Ursus would make a cool Clix fig...
Heroclix is a simple rules system. In more complex systems, these error, and misrepresented characters wouldn't emerge as often as they do.
If it was like the MSH roleplaying game (original), then it's hard to argue much. But, without that kind of complexity (again, the MSH game is really not that complex, but hopefully you understand what I mean) you have to sacrifice a character's true stats, for playability.
Heroclix is for ease of play, you guys worrying that this guy can't do what his Heroclix says he can, are being silly. It's a game, some characters are overpowered, some are underpowered, but NO character is ever going to be 100% correct in the Heroclix rules system.
It can't happen.

Hey guys! Crimson Dynamo has two gatling guns on his arms, I think 5 damage is reasonable... Swiss cheese, anyone?
