View Full Version : Help with Perplexing Hercules team
I need advice with this team.
300 points
L.E. Doctor Doom
V Doctor Octopus
V Wasp
E Black Cat
E A.I.M. Medic
R Black Panther
R Hercules
I would have Herc attack with a heavy object and a perplexed damage to do seven clicks on someone. Wasp would be his taxi and Panther could deal with Invulnerability and the like. The doctors would be a support unit, finishing off Herc's foe or tying the enemy up while Herc retreats to heal. Any huge flaws? Suggestions would be appreciated.

Interesting. Flurry might work in your favor. If I were building that team, I'd throw in some semi-expendable figs with flurry like whirlwind, quicksilver and logan.
The big 7 hit is great, but if your opponent is smart, Herc (15D) will go down very fast. If you haven't KOd his medic by then, you are probably toast.

Do you really have a V Doc Octopus?
Docter Strange would destroy this team easy!!!
What?! I love Doctor Strange, he's my second favorite clix, but Doc Ock is half the point of this team. It is perplexing Herc, right?
Also, Doc Ock is a great force to throw in as addition to your normal force. With the LE Doom and Herc as the base, it's good to have another rainbow fig to back them up, like Octo.
Herc makes a great spunge for Doom's mastermind, as he's got toughness, stays good through the whole dial, and is easily healed.
I like it, as it looks like fun. And amazingly, I can't find anything I would change!
I wish I had an LE Doctor Doom.
In fact, with 400 points, I'd probably throw Doctor Strange in, and then this team would have all my favorite Marvel figures!

I played this team last night and took second in a tourny.
L.E. Harlyquin
Rook Harlyquin
Rook Plastic man
Vet whirlwind
Exp Quicksilver
Rook Hawkman
Exp Booster Gold
Exp Black Cat
And Vet AIM Medic
The Idea is Perplex whirlwind and Quicksilver"s damage way up, and sometimes their attack rating, Fly them in with Hawkman and Booster, and rip away. Bring on black Cat for security, actually necessity.
When WW and QS die, and they probably will, hopefully they have dished out ehough damage that a perplexed Booster can finish everybody off. It is important to get in the first hit, (last night Whirlwind KO'd two rookie hawkmans in one action), and to keep booster alive for mobility and late power.
It can be surprising and powerful, But it is dependant in many ways on the ability of Whirlwind and Quicksilver to make good roles. Black Cat helps out, but There will be a lot of times when you just need to role a nine to hit.
Still it is a lot of fun to play.
R Hercules has:
10 Attack
3 Damage
15 Defense w/ Toughness.
Costs 54 Points
In order to have him hit for 7 using that army, you'd have to taxi him to a heavy object, move him in, and then hit. Against an opponent with invulnerability, you're going to do 5, 6 vs thoughnes, 7 vs nothing.
V Quicksilver has:
9 Attack (One Lower)
2 Damage
16 Defense with Energy Shielld (Significantly better)
Costs: 28 points.
If you perplex damge and attack (usually not an optimal choice) then you're as likely to hit, can taxi Quicksilver in and will do 2 against invulnerability, 4 against toughness, and 6 against nothing.
Perplexing damage twice instead yields slightly lower chances to hit, but 4 vs invulnerability, 6 vs toughness, and 8 vs no damage reduction.
Considering that you can get two V Quicksilvers for the price of one R Hercules it shouldn't be a tough call.
E/V Logan have 9 attack and good damage, but only on one click, so they're not really that great a choice.
For 32 points you can get the Synister Syndicate Whirlwind. If you taxi him with LE Dr. Doom, then He can use the Dr's 10 attack, but his damage droops to 1 after the first click.
I would say you should go with:
68 LE Dr.Doom
66 V Doc. Ock
33 E Wasp
34 E Black Cat
16 E AIM Medic
27 R Black Panther
24 E Quicksilver
32 E Whirlwind

If you don't mind dups, two V Quicksilvers is probably a better choice than the paired E's since Whirwind is relatively weak.
There are still problems with the lack of a damage sink for Dr. Doom, but I guess you can handle dumping damage onto one of the flurriers, or one of the other support figures.

last time I checked the vet. Dr. doom was 198 points and the L. E. is 68, u mean the doombot right?
Here's the team I made up with the idea of hitting someone very hard with Hercules. I won a tournament with it. :) It's quite balanced, as you have three threat pieces, and your opponent can't deal with them all. Usually, Bullseye gets the first shots in while the team sets up, with Doc Ock possibly Willpowering away to deal with Outwit. The free moves you get let Herc grab an objest and move up to get TKed by the Mandroid, who should come forward so you get a better feild of fire with TK.
You gotta use TK in this team, since you want the first strike ability and ya can't carry Herc when he has an object.
Bullseye plays clean-up too, along with Doc Ock. Don't be afraid to push, and protect the Medic.
Rookie Mandroid Armor 28
Veteran Doombot 38
Veteran Doctor Octopus 66
Experienced Hydra Medic 15
Rookie Black Panther 27
Veteran Bullseye 43
Veteran Hercules 83

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but most aren't managable for me. I have a decent collection, but nowhere near a full set. The flurry teams sound devasating, but I don't have the veteran Quicksilver or Whirlwind. I have a question as well. I thought that you were allowed to carry a figure that is carrying an object. Now you're are saying that I would have to TK him out? As long as I'm still confused, is Thor allowed to carry an object and another character at the same time? If so, is he allowed to do running shot, with the extra person, and pick up an object halfway through the movement portion? I need a clarification on that one. My current team loses a lot of mobility if the rules are not as I thought. I will try to rethink it with Telekinesis in mind.

Thor can carry a fig and a object at the same time. He can not carry a fig that is carrying an object. Thor can be carrying an object and a fig during running shot, he just puts the fig down once he attacks. He can also pick an object up while carrying another fig during his move, whether you use Running Shot or not.

keep in mind that once damage is dealt or received by the fig that was perplexed, the perplexed stats go away. so...while flurry is nice to have, as soon as the first hit resolves, the stats will revert for the second hit.

If the Perplexed character is damaged or healed during the turn, the effect ends, not if they deal damage. A perplexed Quicksilver would not lose its damage bonus after it has hit with its first attack from flurry.
