Well, we know what the BiBtB figure is.

i think the brick fig is white lantern Sinestro.

and this pic makes the figure look big just because of the other figures under the glass

he's big i'll agree but diffenitely not bigger than Groot

The BiBTB piece for DC75 is White Lantern Sinestro. That part everyone, pretty much, knows at this point of the game. However, I have to agree with wormaggeddon. What is that a sculpt of, I do see the resemblance with the Batman cover as Milo said? It is definatly a duo(or sculpted that way) and has "Blackest Night" on the dial, or is that a base and this is NOT a game piece.

What if they do a Buy it By the Case figure as well?

I've stumbled upon a parallel universe (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4901026#post4901026) where Death no longer exists.
They seek to enter our universe and destroy us.
We must stop them at all costs.

I wouldn't mind if this were a 2x2 figure, as long as the dial design is similar to The Clown Prince of Crime.

I am guessing this figure is just a close up to make it look huge. Just my opinion. But I do see the resemblance to the Batman Comic referenced.
edit: Or it is a new figure prototype or something like that.

Key question remains...what is this figure? Awesome looking, that's for sure.

Could be a construct of some sort...

The Twitter feed IDs it as "DC 75th Batman" (actually, as "Dc 75th batman." I guess bold caps are at a premium on the Twitter). It could be a new brick figure, if they decided to sell the White Lantern Sinestro seperately, in an Anti-Monitor pack type of thing, instead. More likely it;s just a large sized normal clix that will have to lay down in the booster pack, rather than be snapped into the plastic figure holdert insert in the box.

I assume it's a prototype, not a finished figure, hence the Blackest Night base and not a clix base, and the translucent looking wings. It is kind of cool looking, but i'm not really a fan of having clix figures holding other figures.

That's what she said.

And I think this is obviously a prototype. Once we get color and another photo angle we will have a better idea of the size of the figure.

Has anyone would considered this is just a large sculpt and the actual piece will be non-translucent and non huge?

Shuttle
08/07/2010, 08:14
It's so definitely the first Batman cover. And this model will be the 3-up. A 3-up is a three times normal size model used by some companies to sculpt at a larger scale before reducing the size for the actual model. Sculpting at the larger scale allows for better detailing.

And it looks awesome.

Actually, in one of the Clixcasts, Ben and Brian say that it impossible to sculpt Heroclix as 3-ups, because when the piece gets shrunk down, it actually looses detail and things get muddled.

Unless of course they have figured out a way to do it reliably. Or, if this was sculpted digitally, it could be an over sized mock up, just done for show. Or the picture could be deceptive, and it might not actually be that big. We'll wait and see.

I am pretty sure it is a normal sized figure, its on the same plane of glass as the figures on the corner and it blocks out some of the figure below it.

Remember NECA uses a machine to make some of it's sculpts, it's called digital sculpting.Thor(HoT)and Iron Man & War Machine(WoS) were made this way. They input the data for the sculpt and it makes it. Remember in Jurassic Park 3 Grant has this machine that creates a plastic replica of a raptor's sound chamber of it's skull, I'm sure it doesn't look as cool but it's a machine like that.

Agreed, its clearly on TOP of the glass. It appears to be the same scale as the figures in the top right corner, so 2x2 at most. Looks great though, cant wait to see it painted!

I didn't see this fig at Gencon, but I did see the Star Trek prototype figs (and talked about them with a booth guy) and this is definitely a prototype created with a 3D printer from a digital sculpt.

[Interestingly (to me) I teach at probably the only high school in the country to have a 3D printer. It's a pretty cool thing.]

I appreciate the concept, but....

Of the three golden age trinity characters, only Superman is of any interest to me.

Nice concept, nice sculpt, no interest in (another) golden age Batman.

Certainly not interested in a peanut-based Wonder Woman on a pony. There are many better poses on early Wonder Woman titles, including even Sensation Comics #1 (http://www.comicvine.com/sensation-comics-wonder-woman-arrives-in-mans-world/37-110315/) (huge calves, tiny ankles, and even tinier feet notwithstanding  ).

If they do a more modern (or an Adam West) Batman, then I care.

It's a good thing, though. With Doomsday and Sinestro and now the Wonder Twins (http://yfrog.com/b535ihj), and who knows what else coming down the line, it is nice to look at some figures and be able to say 'I will let my draft partners worry about that one'.

I was going to write it off as just a duplication of that classic cover, but it kinda looks like the other person is the old Joker Red Hood. Is that just me?

EDIT:Yeah, it's probably just me...

Speaking to the size of it, look at the Wonder Woman, Superman, and Bane already shown. They all look gigantic!

Still not a huge fan of the new diorama clix, but it's a thousand times better than any of the Batman covers I was expecting and the sculpt looks great.

This is probably a normal figure and is not even as big as Ragnarok and it's sitting on a blackest night pog do the dimensions

Wyldstaar
08/07/2010, 17:29
Yeah, it's in normal clix scale (not that there is any such thing). It just looks large because there's nothing right beside it to provide a scale reference.

I'll bet it's a mail away figure for The Brightest Day collector's set after all The Blackest Night comes before The Brightest Day and since Batman plays such pivotal role in it makes sense to have a sculpt of him.

I think it's pretty obvious that much like they did in WoS with having the 1st Appearance Spider-Man Cover as the BITB, this is going to be the 1st Appearance Batman Cover as the BITB. Now, as to what scale the fig truly is as compared to what we see in the picture? Who knows. But I think Milo Garret had it pegged right, you can even see the same style of bat-ears on this Batman, his original style cape, swingline and even the thug he's carrying is in the exact pose/position as said 1st Appearance Cover.

Good call, Milo

Wow that is big, the wings will probably be super bendable to fit in boosters. I mean heck look at superman.

Or this piece will come *sunglasses* in pieces

And of course the blackest night thing is the back of an object for size comparison or just something to keep the fig on

rpweld03

They also had a mock-up of the Superman that they let me take some hurried pictures of as they were gluing it to the BN starter object...

The trend seems to be for figures that are meant for the straight collectible market than game playing. I typically only buy DC clix, but From what I've seen of the DC 75 anniversery figs so far, (Bane, Superman w/eagle/WOnder Woman, Batman, Wonder Twins) I realy, really, dislike them.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I really hate them.

The Wonder Woman sculpt is modeled after the cover of Wonder Woman #1 (http://www.comicvine.com/wonder-woman-the-origin-of-wonder-woman/37-108764/). The Superman is modeled after the cover of Superman #14 (http://www.comicvine.com/superman-/37-116550/). This Batman is no different. Straight off the cover of Detective #27 (http://www.comicvine.com/detective-comics-the-case-of-the-chemical-syndicate/37-105764/).

Don't overthink it. The trinity is being done and all of them are being modeled on a cover of an early appearance. They are likely golden age representations, just as they were in Origin.

Given what we have already seen, this Batman is nothing special, and certainly nothing about a golden age Batman indicates an unprecedented collector's set mail-away bonus figure.
