This is a nice close match and should be good.
If this game were fought on a map and Strange could take advantage of range and Batman could use his stealth maybe they survive, but seeing as the bricks have excelled so far in the tournament I think Thing and Professor X should get the job done.

Results for Match VIII!!!
The X-Thing team goes first and decides to let Chuck's brain do the walking. He MC's Dr. Strange, who then turns and blasts Bats for 4! What an opening move!
The Dr. StrangeBat team likes the idea so Earth's Sorcerer Supreme hits the Professor for 4 as well. Strange is on fire!
Thing, knowing Strange tanks fast, decides to put Bats down since he's more unpredictable. One giant rock fist to the grill gives Batty outwit.
The Dark Knight outwits Things Invulnerability and Strange moves in to continue his hot steak at Grimm's expense. With Xavier beaten down and unable to do much alone, StrangeBat knows a big hit on Thing could win this match. Strange charges up his mystical energies and unleashes them...
...right over Thing's big, orange brow! A miss!
Thing seizes the moment and rolls doubles to KO the Bat.
Strange gets back on track quickly and hits Thing for 2.
Thing needs a 9 to hit the Good Doctor...
...and he gets it! Strange takes 4!
But Strange gains support! He only needs a 5 to heal himself...but rolls a 4! Disaster for one team, salvation for the other...
Thing KO's Doc and moves his team into Round 2.
What a match! The whole thing turned on two rolls. I think Dr. StrangeBat came the closest to winning of all the losing teams so far! What a bitter pill to swallow...unless you voted for X-Thing. :)

I ranked you all by number of correct predictions and then, with the multiple ties, by total number of predictions. Thus, someone who is 5-3 is ranked higher than someone who is 5-0. At the end of the first round (halfway there now!) I will post the updated standings as well as my criteria for heavyweights, cruiserweights, etc. :)

Hey sundevil,
Been really enjoying the March Madness. One quick question about the last match...(the role was missed, so it didnt really cause any change to the outcome)
Strange tried to use support on himself... is that allowed in your tournament (I know you are running special rules) because it isnt allowed under the Heroclix rules.
Anyway, love what you are doing!!!

omg. how is it POSSIBLE to even HIT strange with MC??? i mean, 20 def against prof x!!!
i hate it when i lose due to bad luck. GRRR! hahah
FK - just because he uses Mind Control doesn't mean its a ranged attack, which in turn means ES/D does not necessarily kick in.
From the PAC - MIND CONTROL "Give this character a close combat or ranged combat action."
So MC can be a close combat action, thus negating the ES/D in B2B situations.
BTW, I see you and I are all tied up now.... LOL, who you pickin next match bro?

hmm.. that's true. i totally forgot that MC could be range cause ppl with no range gets a 4, so i was like "hmm. must be a ranged attack."

anywho, going by the stats, arcane is the weakest link... doom, bats, adn catwoamn all have 18 d, while arcane doesn't. and outwits cancel each other, doom has perplex with 3 dmg... i say
doom/cat.
but it's kinda obvious since eveyone else did too

Someone asked about the self-healing attempt...yes, under these rules a figure can heal himself or his/her partner. Check the beginning of this thread for complete rules for this thing.

Match IX Results!!!
Even with the +1, Doom and Cat fail to get the first shot.
U Bats outwits Dooms MM and needs an 8 to hit him. Rolls a 9 for 3 damage, costing Doom his MM and Perplex but giving him Invulnerability.
Catwoman, having had enough of that, outwits U Bats Outwit but Doom can't connect on the Dark Knight.
U Bats turns his attention to Cat and whacks her for 3...she rolls a 4 for SuperSenses and goes to her first non-outwit click.
Doom finally contributes with a 3-click blast to U Bats. Now neither U Bats nor Arcane can hurt Doom without doubles (for Arcane)!
Arcane misses Doom.
Doom hits Arcane...but the eight-legged freak dodges!
Arcane tags Doom...but does no damage after Invulnerability. :(
Doom misses the bug.
Arcane misses the dictator.
Doom gets through Arcane's Impervious for 1 click.
Arcane connects...but Invulnerability absorbs the damage again... :(
Doom hits...and Arcane dodges!
Arcane, for the third time, gets ahold of Doom but can't scratch the Invulnerability.
Doom continues to chip away, hitting Arcane for 1 more....right into Psychic Blast...
Arcane makes his first Psychic Blast roll...
...A CRIT HIT! Doom takes 3 possibly momentum changing clicks but does gain outwit!
Doom regroups, outwits Arcane's Impervious...but misses!
Arcane keeps the pressure on, hitting Doom for 2 more, giving the Latverian Ruler more Mastermind to go with that outwit.
Doom (using MOD to mimic Cat's 8 attack instead of his own measly 6) outwits the ManBug's Impervious and hits Arcane for 2! But it gives Arcane poison...can you see this coming? :)
Arcane's poison KO's Doom and wounds Cat for 1!
Cat wakes up and claws U Bats for 1.
Arcane poisons her again and U Bats moves in for the kill...CRIT MISS!!! It does give him outwit again...
Cat misses Arcane...
Arcane poisons her (4 clicks of poison damage in this match!), Batman outwits her LC (for the +1 D bonus) and KO's her...
Biggest upset so far! The #3 seed is history!
Monday night...

Batman is Batman and everything, but I'm still amazed at this outcome. Oh well.
I'm all in with two losses. I'm going to go ahead and pick She-Hulk and Grodd - I've never played with or against a Braniac, so I don't what he can really do and that may cost me - but I like Shulkie and Grodd is fun to play too.

I pick braniac13 and Hercules. This battle could go either way. it just depends on braniacs impervious rolls and if gorrila can hit his mc rolls. But in the end i think hercules and brainiac will win because of their pure strength, and good dials. Just hope that this one doesn't turn into a mr. fixit battle.

OK, so over the weekend I totally missed the Doom match. Ah well, that's just fine because I was going to vote for Doom. Lucky me. Guess "You Snooze, you Win" applies here, eh?
Anywho... This next match is hard to call. In the past I've had good luck with Grodd and also have made Braniac dance the cha-cha in a tutu with Moondragon and Mojo's MC. Even still, it's tough not to go with our favorite Mardi-Gras-dressed robo-head.
Sign me up for Braniac and his muscular sidekick.

Man that's what I get for staying away from my computer this weekend. I miss a whole match. Oh well I probably would have gone with Doom anyways. And then this morning I'm looking all over wondering where the Bleep this thread was. I had to wait until someone posted to it and I got a notification to find it. Seriously messed up.

Thanks for the support everyone. (you rolled a 6!) I e-mailed both mods but have heard nothing back so I guess we're stuck here for a little while. I have the B-13/Herc vs. Shulkie/Grodd results. Should I post them here or start a new thread over in General Discussion? This really makes me mad - it's like they are saying this thread isn't worthy of the 'prime' forum so we got moved to the boonies. And to a forum about NON-Heroclix stuff to boot! What an insult! I am leaning toward starting a new thread in Gen. Disc. and just sacrificing the numbers for this thread. Let me know what you all think and I will check back here in a few hours. I will have the next match results tonight one way or the other - here or back in GenDisc. :)

My next tourney will not be posted until at least mid April, most likely another month/month and a half. Dr H and I have been working VERY hard at playing, writing, and other "details" in order to make it first rate.

i agree with fogs -- all other threads are just little things here and there to read. online forum games are fun to read and follow, but unless you're playing, then there really isn't much to it. this type of thread lets a multiple of posters/readers to express their views on several different characters while having a fun competition. and that seems, to me, to be the more of the heroclix spirit than more firelord spam.... shoot... for that matter, how many rules are asked in general discussion and never moved to the rules' forums? too many -- this move was ridiculous, inconsistent, and inconsiderate of many active HCRealms members.

OK, let's do something other than seethe at being moved...let's GET IT ON!!!
Match X - #14 B-13/Herc vs. She-Hulk/Grodd
Hercules rushes in, as the Lion of Olympus is prone to do after he's had a few, and smacks She-Hulk for 2.
Grodd swings in to his partner's aid and tries to MC Herc, only needs a 5...but gets a 4!!! Three possible clicks into B-13's dial vanish into what if's...
B-13 joins the fray and slaps the Ape upside his gorilla-dome for 3 clicks, giving Flash's AE Psychic Blast. That could come in handy...
Grodd tries to use his new toy...but misses B-13...again, by only 1. Who's been monkeying with Grodd dice rolls? :)
B-13 hits him again for 3, trading his PB for Outwit.
GG Outwits B-13's Impervious but She-Hulk misses him! this team can not catch a break.
B-13 eliminates that pesky Outwit by KO'ing everyone's favorite primate thespian.
She-Hulk misses AGAIN...with a 4. :P
It must be contagious because B-13 then misses Shulkie with a 3!
She counterpunches him for 1 click he can not dodge.
The Technicolor Terror hits Hulk's Cuz' for 2.
She misses the comeback.
He hits her for 3...
...she misses for the last time...
...and he KO's her.
Basically, Shulkie and Grodd had the worst series of rolls in this tournament. A different day may have meant a different result.
But no matter! The Olympic B-13 Bombers move on!
Next time...
Another God gets into the mix and brings the hammer down, draggin' a Dragon along...he has flowing blonde hair and she has a shiny, bald dome...he rules the Hammertime and she'll Clamp yer Mind...your #6 seed...THOR AND MOONDRRRAAAGOOONNN!!!
Facing them will be the Surf 'n' Turf brothers...the ManPlant and BeachHead...your #27 seed...SANDMAN AND SWAMP TTTHHHIIINNNGGG!!!

Ouch, 2 game skid. That was a sad sad match really. She Hulk and Grodd missed virtually every roll.
Swamp Thing is a nice figure but Moondragon is sweet and she's the weakling on that team.

First, I would like to thank all of you for the show of support. Fogs especially, he really got our plight noticed. You are all cool as he!! and I hope I can repay you with a great and interesting tournament!
Secondly, I would like to thank Draddog. He wrote me and cleared everything up. And, as you all now know, he put us back in the sun.
Results tommorrow night. Oh, and one last thing...I am thinking of doing something special for the release of XP. Maybe give you all the next 3 fights in advance and let you make 3 predictions? Anyway, I am taking suggestions... :)

Welcome fight fans, to MATCH XI!!!
Thor uses his +2 initiative advantage to get in the first shot, hitting Sandman for 2.
Ol' Surf 'n' Turf huddle up and decide what their first move should be...then Sandman comes out and incapacitates Thor! The Thunder God takes 1 click and can not attack next turn!
Moondragon tries to put a stop to this but fails to MC Swamp Thing.
Sandman can't get enough of a good thing an incap's Thor again!
Moondragon can only stand by watching as she misses the ManPlant with another MC attempt.
Sand incaps Thor again! Moony better stop this! The OdinSon's damage drops from 4 to 3...
Mon finally gets it right and MC's Swamp Thing, who then plants Sandman for 2 clicks.
Sandy has a lower attack now, but has to attempt the incap again...CRIT HIT!!! Thor takes 2 and is once again frozen!
Moon tries it again and grabs ahold of the ManPlant's foliage-like brain and uses him to hammer Sandman for 3 clicks that BeachHead can't dodge. Sandman finally loses that pesky incapacitate!
Swamp Thing gets aggressive and whacks Thor for 2. No one can hurt Swamp Thing now! (w/o doubles)
Moon has a higher attack so tries for the object attack but misses.
Swamp beats Thor to within an inch of his life...
Dragon misses the Man Plant again.
Swampy switches his attention and cracks MoonDragon for 3 clicks...but she DODGES!
Moon misses again. She must get rid of that Impervious...
Swamp and Moony trade misses here...
Swamp finally connects and she takes all 3 this time but she does get Psychic Blast!
However, she misses!
Swamp Thing gets the doubles that MoonDrago needed for a 4-click KO of MoonDragon!
Fearing a shut-out (on top of the upset) Thor tries to KO Sandy his beaten body barely able to raise Mjolnir...but Sandman dodges to add insult to injury.
Swamp Thing KO's Thor! The Thunder God only got ONE shot in!
It's over! Surf 'n' Turf have done it! They have pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the tourney so far! Three Top-10 seeds are gone! Incapacitate was CRUCIAL, how many matches will it decide?

The big pile of Outwit that the Key and Mr Fantastic bring to the table is very useful against ol' Juggy. However, neither of them really have the attack values to make it pay off.
I see Juggy and Cykes easliy pounding their opponents to nothing while Mr Fan and Key try to widdle away at Juggernaut.
My vote goes to Juggernaut and Cyclops, but I do see some upset potential here.

Wow, - I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the rules 'cause Incapacitate is one of the best powers to have in this tournament if you're up against an opponent with invulnerability - a click of damage AND they don't get to go next round. That's a huge advantage to have. It turned Thor into a great big chew toy.
In a game setting I use incapacitate only rarely. And on the other hand I find Mind Control to be one of my favorite powers, but with no push damage in the tournament it is also not as powerful. Should have examined all of that closely when making my last pick.
3 game losing streak now. So, does Plasticity offer any special bonus in tournament rules?
In looking this over, Juggernaut has an insanely deep dial with Invulnerability almost all the way down. But, the Key has Outwit on his first click. If he can outwit Jugs Invuln, Mind Control Cyclops to do an RCE blast on Jugs and 3 clicks its a good start. And then, we saw exactly what incapacitate could do to big guns with Inulnerability in the Thor match. The Key has Incapacitate for miles after his first click. Reed Richards has both Incapacitate and Invuln in the middle of his dial and don't forget a bunch of outwit. I see them outwitting RCE or Inulvn over and over. Oh yeah and don't forget the Key's Super Senses on every click to dodge those attacks.
I'm going with the Key and Mr. Fantastic.
And if I'm wrong is there that big a difference between 3 in a row and 4 in a row?
dern sandman. he's one of the most underrated figs in the game. but for the next round...hmmmm, i say those with outwit will take it. Mr. Keytastic takes this one.
Edit: RICHARD!!! Moved again! That's just not right.

Hmm well I am one of the two guys that got a win outta the last two matches and the question is, can finesse beat brawn?
Juggernauts team is all brawn and the keys team is all one big dirty tricks squad.
I went with the underdog last time and got a win so this time I'll go with....

Oh quick message to all the nay sayers out there. I actually use vet Mr. Fantastic on my regular teams and in a 300 or 400 point game, if he's got a taxi, he can do pretty well. I use him mostly to keep firelords that would other wise escape glued to the spot. You just got to wound mr lord a tad bit, then once you get your outwit, invulnerability, and plasticity going... you have all the time in the world. Remember to outwit his rce while Mr Lord still has it.
