Looks like we're getting two standalone boxed games at the outset. They look pretty interesting, and I'm always down with finding cheap standalone games!

Um they're both clix based, just not compatible w/ Heroclix.
Also I'm pleased that they're not going to be booster based, will be easy on my wallet.

I'm glad they are diversifying a little. I know it cuts against conventional wisdom, but I've always contended that the problem with HorrorClix was not lack of compatibility with HC, but rather too much similarity.
I'm not likely to plunk down a bunch of money for a game experience that's near identical to one I already have.
It's good to see that they're pursuing a different style and maybe a different player base.

My bad. Didn't see that.

That makes sense to me.

This is why I never played MageKnight 1.0. I tried it, but it was almost the exact same game as HeroClix. the only real difference was the lack of map in MageKnight. When 2.0 came out, it was a different game than either HeroClix or the original MK so I found myself wanting to play and collect after demoing it at GenCon.
That makes sense to me.
It makes sense to me too. To give us another game, that is just like heroclix, but not compatable, is like taunting us. I like the way they are moving a slightly different way. Maybe this will help bring more people into the clix genre as a whole. :)

I took a pretty in depth demo of the game and wrote it up here:

The contained box is pretty cool. Customizable games are growing in popularity. This has a lot of potential to rock.

The ship game looks really cool! I'm excited about that one!
Not so sure on Expeditions any more. I'll wait and see on the one. But I really like that the Fleet Captians will start with a whole Starfleet and Klingon fleet, and that it's a box set instead of Boosters. Very nice. I love the idea of future expansions for the Romuluns, the Dominion, etc. And the 'Fog of War' effect with the tiles being revealed looks clever. :)

Well, true, since MageKnight was first, but I played HeroClix quite awhile before even knowing the other WizKids games existed.

I'm kinda bummed I didn't get to demo it, the booth was always too busy, I just listened to the spiel.
I'm more excited for the space battles one, which surprised me, since I was looking forward to the characters, unfortunately from what I saw of the mission expedition one, it didn't impress me.

Just watched the video interview from Games Salute.
Yeah the Co-op game isn't exciting me as much now...you only get Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Uhura? Uh. I want Scotty! And they might just be busts? Man, I really hope they are clix scaled figures!
But the ship battles game looks pretty cool now! Trying to think what the 10 ships would be.
