i see that there are quite alot of people trading/buying figs from the hammer of thor set.

can anyone explain why the sudden demand?

Well in my case i run primarily Asguardian theme teams.

Can't find the boosters anywhere anymore. Even my venue, which is notorious for always having booster pack stock at least a few years back has sold out.

I think this is a driving force behind the demand for the figures.

It was an incredibly powerful set with very few poor figures. The minions were great, the SRs were on average great. You have pieces like Common Thor that are incredible, and Rares like Captain America that are game staples. It's the best set I've seen since I started collecting figures with JLA.

Well, I'm still seeking several figures and that's simply because I never got them.

As for the average joe, it's because the set is harder to come by due to the number produced.

It's a great set that's hard to find. A local store has a couple boosters, but other than that I haven't seen it anywhere in almost a year.

(Which reminds me, if anyone has a Hela, Volstaag or Thor Frog they're looking to trade/sell, please pm me!)

I disagree with this being the best set ever lol.

I bought only 4 packs and pulled a godpack, and I'm def not a thor fan lol

Where were all these people when I was selling a full complete set? ;) And of course, true to Murphy's Law, the moment I break it up and sell it on ebay, the people starts coming out of the woodwork. *shakes head* Still have the biggies though that didn't sell (Thor and Loki, Volstagg, Ultron, Odin). Although I'm waiting for a quote on them from an online store to see to get store credit for another WoS case or possibly 2. :)

A few reasons are...

1. God Packs
2. Captain America, who could be traded for a SR
3. Generics
4. A lot of usable figures
5. People getting antsy for WOS

Because demand for the last set was low? From what I can tell many people feel Brave and the Bold was not very good.

Dial wise, it was... but character wise, a bit meh.

Personally, I still need an Ultron. :(

Our venue has been sitting on Hammer of Thor stock for awhile now; we buy one or two boosters each week for our tournament prize support, but most of us have everything we really want.

Ironically, Brave and the Bold was undersupplied to the venue, and has never been restocked.

Underproduced set with a lot of good pieces. My local venue has a few packs left I think, but they jacked prices up to $14 a booster. Since most places are sold out of the packs, the only way to get them is via trade or on ebay. Trade is cheaper. I can honestly see Hammer of Thor turning into the Modern Age Legacy.

One of my local shops had 4 packs left at $15 a piece. I had one bad day and ended up buying all 4 and pulled Thor/loki and Gertrude and old lace plus my common Thor I wanted. It was a personal victory especially since I had never bought any packs of HoT.

For me I just never got many pieces when it came out, and I've been playing catch up lately on not only that set but others as well. When I started to catch up I didn't have hardly any HoT or Arkham Asylum. Turns out both are great sets!
