Today Mr.Rogers died. I am dedicating this thread to him for all the people who used to like his show at one point, I know whenever I see it on flipping channels I'll stop to watch it. We will miss you Mr.Rogers. This thread is for anyone who wishes to say something about him to mourn his death.

I just wanna say that for all the Heroclix that I play with and imagine battles with, the place where I learned to pretend is with Mr. Rogers and the Land of Make Believe. I'll always have fond memories of his great show. Thanks for helping me grow up. I know Trolley's taking you straight to Heaven. I'll miss ya.

Sad news indeed. I'll wear a cardigan in his honor today.

Genuinely sad to hear of his passing - a true cultural touchstone for my generation. His passing at a time of considerable social anxiety seems ironic given the security and comfort he so gently provided to his viewers.
Rest in peace
I too am saddened by his passing. King Friday and the Nieghborhood must be very upset today. :( Heck my dad looked like him and my grandma used to say it was my father on TV. Used to watch his show after Seasame Street, Electric Company and Zoom. Anyone remember those? Someone should do a custom Letterman. :D

As a kid, his show was the least of PBS's lineup in my mind (after Sesame Street and Electric Co.) but I always loved the puppet land. As an adult, I am impressed by the human frailty his on-screen persona displayed. At a time when adults on children's TV were too often infallable, he showed kids that it was normal to get frustrated or discouraged every once in a while.
Today I learned that he was a devout Christian and ordained minister. It is to his credit that that was never detectable in his broadcasts - he managed to express his view of human decency in a completely secular tone.
Truly a great loss. He has left us and our children a wonderful legacy of broadcasts that will remain in circulation for years and years to come.

Just wanted to say that growin up Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was one of my favorite shows to watch. I was sad to learn of his passing. With you in our lives it truly was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Huh! I didn't hear it until just now, and I watch TV all day!
I liked all the factory visits they made on that show, like how a crayon is made, or how an eraser is made - I thought those were really interesting.
And I liked the way he talked to kids about their feelings and stuff like that.
Trivia: Michael Keaton (from movies like Mr. Mom, Batman I and II, Clean and Sober, Beetlejuice) was one of the people who ran the Trolly in the early days of the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood show.
It was one of his first jobs.
see ya, man. your show was the greatest. make belive land, the mailman, the chef, i'll miss your amazing show. thank you for everything you have done.

I'm an unfortunate guy who hasn't seen one Mr. Rogers show... but even before seeing this thread here, I saw it first at CNN.com....
It is people like him that makes me believe in the human spirit... regardless of the everyday evil that abound. I remember the time I was saddened by Jim Henson's passing too.... people who cherish and pour their hearts in making children happy should be honored above all.
Truly a sad event.... people like this guy is ultra-rare. Even rarer than LE6s. For those who were able to watch his shows, I hope he was really able to contribute and be part of your life not only by his shows, but from the lessons and happiness he brought.
God blessed him as he blessed us.

Mr. Rogers won like 4 emmies and more for his work. those shoes he always changed into are going to be some difficult ones to fill... contemperary tv programming just doesn't come close to him. He was a good guy who really did care about kids. Who didn't take a trip to the land of make believe aboard the trolly?
The Rabbidgerbal says rest in peace sir, for the Frothing One will feed the fish for you today.

I don't think that ANYONE wll ever fill those shoes. He never talked down to kids, he talked TO them. I know my mom is pretty glad I grew up watching him. Too bad my 4 month old daughter won't get that chance.
He will be missed.

At my technical support center, where I work, We all sang the mister rogers song in memorandum to the world's greatest imagination guru. Where ever he is, I'm sure he's inspiring more people.
My dad of all people called me this morning to let me know that he had passed. My dad is 51 and I am 25 yet we both grew up with Mr. Rogers. His show was always one of my favorites as a child and I will miss him.

I still remember his tour of the Graham Cracker factory. At least he will be "immortal" as long as there are re-runs.
Sadly extinguishing my smoke,

"It's such a good feeling to know you're alive
It's such a happy feeling we're growing inside
And when we wake up ready to say
'I think I'll make a snappy, new day'
It's such a good feeling
a very good feeling
the feeling you'll know that
he'll be back
when the day is new
and he'll have more ideas for you
and you'll have things you'll want to talk about...
He
will
too."
Fred Rogers was a classy person whose songs' lyric were not merely good words. He truly was in life who he was on screen. Join in...
"It's you I like
It's not the things you wear.
It's not the way you do your hair,
But it's you I like.
The way you are right now,
the way down deep inside you,
Not the things that hide you
Not your toys--they're just beside you.
But it's you I like.
Every part of you--
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like, it's you yourself
It's you.
It's you I like."

The world is a lesser place without Fred McFeely Rogers in it.

I just can't believe it. Mr. Rogers can't... die. It's just a hoax. He's now where Elvis is, and they probably eat breakfast together and stuff. Whoo, I feel better.
A sad but final lessen from our neighbor: all things pass. I know we all were deeply effected by this man. still today, just putting on a sweater or sneakers can provoke memories of his Magical show (especially changing out of business clothes at the end of the day) I'm sure alot of you must have similar expieriences. Now those moments will forever carry a wistful bittersweet sadness, There will only ever be one Mister Rogers.

I'm am deeply saddend by the loss of a fellow neighbor (grew up in the "burgh"), the man who displayed the power of the imagination, and a man who was an incredibly huge positive influence on countless individuals.
The world couldn't have enough "Mr. Rogers"
