What kind of crazy sets would you like to see?

I would like to see a set heavily featuring the AE mechanic. Can you imagine a pre-GL Boodikka who AE's into GL Boodikka who AE's into Alpha Lantern Boodikka? Or, Guy Gardner AE to GL AE to Sinestro's ring, AE to Warrior, AE to GL with a possible AE to GL Corpse and then back to GL. Dan Turpin who AEs to Darkseid. Mister Miracle who AEs into the Anti-Life Equation.

How about a set made up of single base figures who can link into Duos?

Add a new dimension to sealed games by having a set of high powered no or low range figures.

I voted other. I am very underwhelmed by the AE mechanic. And while I love me a good brick, I don't think a whole set centered around them would be as fun as a set with more variety.

As for the duo thing... what do you mean by "joining" single figures?

I dig the idea of two people AEing into one figure.

all those are things you could so. there is no reason you couldn't see that. i'd like to see more characters synergy. have spidey and human torch be better because they are close. kinda like the blue beetle from crisis. when booster gold was close he got a new power. that would be another good use for traits.

There are a few ways to do this:

when two specific figures are adjacent, after one takes an action to make an attack, the other makes an attack as a free action. This could be in the form of a trait that only names the figure so it would work with older figures.
Two or more figures adjacent can then use the AE mechanic to remove themselves from the map and then bring on a character more powerful than either of them. The more powerful character could not be used as part of the initial force. This could represent the Forever People releasing the Infinity Man or Psi-Force releasing Psi-Hawk

What would be really cool and add a dimension of strategy is if the "AE" mechanic of combining 2 figures to bring in a more powerful figure allowed you to hijack an opposing figure if it has the right name. The timing would be delicate to prevent your opponent from using yours, but it could be cool.

I voted "other".

Because I don't want a set full of a crazy gimmick. I don't want the game bloated with a continous stream of set specific special powers/rules. If I wanted that I'd go back to playing Magic.

All I want are well designed sets with a wide range of characters and uniform (good) quality sculpts/paint.
ATM weve got 2/3 of these.....

I think it would be cool to come out with a cartoon set. Everyone knows the Teen Titans from the show, why don't they make figures of super heroes as they appear in the TV shows. A lot of comic fans will disagree, but I have introduced a lot of people to this game, and all of them were disappointed by the Starfire not being the way she is in the show.

I'd like to see more traits or powers representing team synergy, similar to the newer Fantastic Four characters (SI/F4 Starter). Also, combining the Vehicle keyword and sculpt, possibly) with duos on 1x2 bases would be interesting.

E Phoenix (Jean Grey)
:star: When Phoenix is adjacent to a friendly character named Cyclops or a friendly character with the X-Men keyword and team ability, she can use Defend as if she had a defense value of 18.

V Punisher and Spider-Man
:star: War Van: Once per game, a friendly adjacent character can use ES/D or Toughness during a turn in which it would not be given any actions (including free actions).

U Javelin (JLA)
:m-wing-trans: Javelin can carry up to eight friendly characters that must have the JLA, Justice League, Justice League of America, or Justice League International keywords. Javelin can carry friendly characters with the JLA, Justice League, Justice League of America, or Justice League International keywords, regardless of their attack and speed symbols. A friendly character with the :a-duo: symbol carried this way counts as two friendly characters for purposes of being carried. Javelin's speed value is not modified by the Carry ability.

I would buy that. Even just a 7 figure set would be awesome. Super Soldier, Dark Claw, Hyena, Spiderboy, Amazon, Dr. Strangefate, Access.

Access could even have that power to take two figures and replace them with 1 awesome figure.

I went with other.

I'm not a fan of the AE mechanic or even duos. The AEs are too weak when they switch over to their costume version. Their is only a couple of duos I will consider using, but most of the time I pass them by.

None of your voting choices interest me and if their was a forth choice it would have been "None of the above".

Not so concerned about centering a set around a play mechanic. If Fantastic Forces(Giants) and BatB(Duos) has taught us anything its that this train of design thought does not work well.

If I had to pick anything though it would be along the lines of AE figs similar to how WoS dealt with it (ie. 1 fig has the option of becoming one of many other upgrades). The concept would be similar to Superman & Flash where the player could pick which AE would be more suitable for the given situation.

Crazy set? How about a set made up of only alternate reality/timeline figures? Those are generally a lot of fun. All of my favorite Superman stories are alternate reality stories, and several of my favorite Batman stories are alternate reality stories, as well. and everybody on these forums is always clamoring for more Age of Apocalypse characters. Seems like this would sell plenty well.

I like the duo mechanic by joining single figs. A lot could be created from this. Wow Now that i think about this there could be a new wave of mechanics created from a duo interaction from two characters.

Lets say

Wolverine and Colossus

When adjacent give colossus a power action. Move wolverine up to 8 squares and place him in a adjacent square to target. Roll a d6 and give target damage equal to the result -2 penetrating damage. Wolverine takes one unavoidable damage and a token.

There could even be generic attacks from Duos so whenever two figs with the right abilities are adjacent or in place they could activate the duo attack somehow.

A bit of thought and this could go far.

A set with characters that have never appeared in Hero Clix before. That's right, no Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, or Lex Luthor OR Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Invisible Woman, Wolverine or Loki. No re-makes, re-treads, re-peats. When this set says "All-New Figures", it really means it!

Agreed. I voted "other" as well, as I'm underwhelmed with the Alter Ego mechanic, and don't care for duo's. As for short Range to No Range brick type figures... meh. I think we can easily have a few of those in a set and be fine.

Ive been wanting an Amalgam set for a while and understanding that it was a partnership on both Dc. and Marvel's part perhaps using the same strategy for clix could provide simular success. Having a JLA vs. Avengers set , (20) Dc, (20) Marvel, (20) Amalgam, BIBTB and a collassal. Introducing the synching of two characters into an AE using the Amalgam characters such as providing a Batman and a Wolverine with an ability that when adjacent can AE into Darkclaw. Doing a set this way provides enough characters for a full set and an interesting way of introducing this new tweak to the AE mechanic. I believe im going to work up a wish list for this ideal set.

I voted for the 2 figures becoming 1 fig. I cant believe that WK/NECA hasnt thought of this before. Picture this:

Spider-man 70pts
Human Torch 80pts

Before the game even starts u can decide to either play them individually at their normal price or with a brand spanking new piece of plastic thingie, can combine both figures and make them appear/play as a duo figure. AND at a reduced price say like a 10pt discount (or maybe not), since they have to now travel around with each other. Both figs would have their own dials, so both would have to be K.O.'d, and on their individual cards would have abilites that would only come into play only when they are in "duo form".

Anyone remember the game Overpower? The X-Babies killed that game for my group. Killed it dead. We played like 3 times after their card was released, then we just quit. They were ridiculous to defeat. It was absurd.

Now that would be crazy. In a good way.
I voted Other as well.
How about a new Darkhorse set? That would be awesome
and a bit of crazy as well.

I hate the AE mechanic. If you want to roleplay clark kent hanging out
before turning into Superman, play an RPG. Clark and other AE's usually
go out BEFORE the action starts. The fact the AE's would be present at
the fight kind of defeats the purpose of having a secret identity...
Also, not a fan of all the Duo figs...

I have been strongly complaining about getting the same characters all of the time!!! Spider-Man, Superman, Wolverine, Captain America, Batman, Elektra, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Thor, Iron Man, Daredevil... I'm sure I forgot several of 'the usual suspects'!!!
Do we need these guys in every damned set of their respective company releases??? I want a set without a new version of the same damned people for once??? Isn't it getting old betting on which version of one of those characters we will get in the set DC or Marvel set? How many times have you heard, I wonder which Wolvie will be in the next set? Will he suck like the rest? Will Superman be an Elseworlds or will it be a normal version? Will Batman ever get a sp that gives him willpower outwit and probability control?
Am I the only one who thinks this??? Is this the minority opinion?
I understand that some of those characters sell product, but don't you think the product is solid enough to sell itself by now? Do we have to keep flooding the game with 27 versions of one individual character? I have every damned Superman available, and while I will still get them, because I'm an extremely anal completist collector, I think I have too many Clark Kent/Superman figures!!!
Please, someone tell me that you understand my chief argument!!!

I understand your argument, but the problem is that consumers are fickle. They buy product to get the characters they want. Many players want their favorite characters and do not want characters which they are not familiar with and some will not play character they don't like regardless of how good their dials might be.
Completists alone cannot sustain the game. They need comic book fans and they need to give them what sells as well, even if we do get 1 or more versions in each release. The best we can hope for is to minimize them or have them in rarer slots so those do not want 15 Superman figures and aren't completists can save some money.

OP: Those are all horrible ideas even worse then BATB duo's. If any set like that was foolishly released it would be the worst set in heroclix

Its about characters

- Blackest Night/ Green Lantern set
- Superman / fourth world set
- Batman / horror set
etc would all sell dramatically better
