View Full Version : Nightcrawler
Can Nightcrawler Taxi by Bamfing. Haven't been able to find it. I have a second part to this question depending on if he can.

Ummm.....no.
He doesn't have flying, so no taxiing. Pretty simple.
thanks. In that case there is no second part of the question.
he can't, but he should be able. Thats why they should have made him a new teleportation power.
Keep the moving and attacking the same as HSS but drop the "standing still" HSS attack (it doesn't fit the character at all). Then give him the ability to carry people (both at the start or in the middle of his movment, to represent him bamfing into combat and pulling someone out) as well as allowing him to phase with the power.
That's why I thought he could.
HSS attack makes sense if you try hard enough.
Nightcrawler stands in front of you and punches you in the face = 1
BAMF! He appears behind you and kicks you in the back = 2
BAMF! He pops up to your left and knees you in the stomach = 3
BAMF! He drops from above to deliver a elbow to your back = 4
Eventually, you come to expect him to BAMF, so your defense goes up more and more as you are expecting him to pop up behind you. It is kind of far-fetched, and I can't remember him doing it in the comics, but oh well. How can you complain about him? (Yeah, I wish he could carry figs, too. Maybe they will change that someday..) Nightcrawler is one of the most extremely cool characters from the comics. Now he is the all-powerful "Bamf-Master" in clix.
GO BAMF-MASTER!

I've seen him do that. I can't cite a specific Title/Issue #, but I've seen him do it.

Yes, in the comics, Kurt does use his powers to make several attacks in rapid succession from different directions.
He also does this in the X-men, Next Dimension video game (certainly not cannon, but still darn cool).
Being able to carry people with him would be great, but maybe it isn't necessary to incorporate that into Clix.

Nightcrawler definitely used his teleportation to "hypersonic" attack someone in the comics, just as Badges2 describes.
... but I don't buy how you describe the defense going up.... :)
After a while, you come to expect him to bamf around you, so you are waiting for him to do it = higher defense. You are more ready for him to pop up behind you than you were at first.

Don't think of it so much as the defender making the defense go up. Look at it as Kurt getting tired from teleporting around them so much and he gets a little less accurate each time. They could have just as easily said reduce the HSS figure's Attack value by one and achieved the same result.

Another thing Kurt has done several times...
Grab opponant A...
Teleport half an inch about 6-12 times in rapid succession.
The stress often knocks his opponants out. And the reason why the target's "defense goes up by 1 for each attack" in this case is simple:
It's a rules way of demonstrating that characters with a higher defense tend to have a greater endurance. They can withstand the stress a bit more, because fewer of the atacks actually take anything out of them.
Visualization: Kurt rapidbamfs a Veteran Shield Sniper (Defense 14) about 12 times. The actual successful rolls made are only five. However, this is enough to put said sniper down for the Big Sleep. She's out of the battle.
If this had been, say, Vet Doc Ock, with his defense of 17, and the rolls had been identical, let's say only the first two attacks succeeded. Yes, "in the comics", Kurt teleported him about a dozen times, ending up a total of six inches to the left, but he only took two clicks of damage, because his greater endurance (madness?) allowed him to withstand the stress.
And a final reason it does so is for game balance. If the opponant's defense did NOT go up by 1 every time, then Rookie Flash could take out rookie Doomsday in one HSS attack about half the time or so, even with Impervious.
