What dimensions (in 1:1 scale) does each 1.5" square represent on the map? Meaning, if you were shrunk down to the size of a figure, how big would each square be to you? Anyone know? I'm trying to build my own map and it would help a great deal.
Hmmm... well I do know that the map and the figure are not on the same scale.
So, I'm actually a little sorry I couldn't be of more help.

One square = six feet, more or less. I don't think there's a definitive answer to this one.

lets see as i do Architectural drafting for a living....and on the indoor maps we have openings to go from one room to another and in the real world most openings (doors) are at least 3 feet and on the maps the openings are one square that would mean that one square is 3 feet by 3 feet

There have been plenty of discussions of scale in the "Custom Maps" forum. If you do a search on the thread titles there you'll find them.
The basic problem with HeroCliix scale is, as Tsannik said, the maps and figures aren't in the same scale. When you try to calculate the scale, your conclusion will be different depending on what you're looking at. For example, Kang is 1.5 inches tall (not including the base). That suggests one square = six feet. When sniksder looks at the maps, he sees that the doorways are one square wide, which suggests that one square = three feet. So there isn't a single formula that will work for all of the maps, figs, and objects in the game.
