I actually do sculpt... or at least try to, haha. I sculpt mostly heads (mostly for all the various aliens of the Green Lantern Corps and other Corps), but have recently started sculpting from scratch. I've actually messaged the master, Vestige (who happens to be very nice and very helpful), several times for some tips. My skill level is nowhere near his, or Phoenix Force's, but hopefully I'd be half as good as them in the future.

The figures I've made from scratch (wire plus greenstuff only), off the top of my head, are Rocket Raccoon, Orange Lantern Glomulus, Red Lantern Zilius Zox, Red Lantern Dex-Star, Orange Lantern Glomulus, Green Lantern Larvox, Green Lantern Vox, Black Lantern Galius Zed, and Black Lantern Deadman. I agree, Vestige is an awesome guy who is very friendly and helpful. If I had the funds, I'd have him make a sculpt for me, and then send it to you to have it painted.

After having seen the Deadman again, I realized...I DID know that you sculpted. I forgot that I've seen those steps before. My apologies for under-representing you.

Do you think you're at the level where you could sculpt for WizKids (handle deadlines, changes, demands, etc)?

Howdy Folks!

Just wanted to get some input as to when you would like to see Clix Tourneys at Comic Oasis. Please keep in mind it is on the North West side of town.

I wanted to get some feedback on what would be best for those who will actually drive up here to play.

Tues and Wed are out of the question.... Receiving and New Comic Day....

So what do you all think?

No worries. I don't know if I could sculpt professionally, but I sure would want to try! Working for Wizkids, now that would be a dream come true!

It doesn't really take me that long to sculpt. It actually depends on the amount of detail I want for a fig. I think Deadman took me 2 days to sculpt and paint. Probably a total of 8 working hours. If I were to work for Wizkids :grin:, I would probably take my sweet time (upto 2 weeks or more per fig probably) to make sure every little detail comes out.

Yeah I remembered, that Dex-Star was sculpted as Wizkids never made a CAT!!! So, yeah he (Goldeeh) is excellent at both!

The longest sculpt job was also the most recent: Bubblehead's Quasar and Larfleeze. Had to let thigs dry overnight on both (Quasar's cape and Lar's head) to get them just right!

Nov 18th, the Wednesday Hammer of Thor comes out, I'm off. So, I'm planning on spending the afternoon at one of the shops playing games and maybe having some short of new-guy friendly release day event.

Currently, Battlezone Comics has said they might have something on release day and let me use their considerable table space.

Anyone feel like joining the fun?

And for you guys interested in the release-day hijinks, Battlezone games is way up in NW Vegas.
Follow the link (http://battlezonecomics.com/)to their shop for address/directions. And watch out for the gunfire. I think they'll be running regular events on Saturday nights, according to the shop keep, so it won't conflict with the events at Comics Oasis, should they do Sundays.

No and didn't plan on it. John at LSOM is barley tolerent of Clix right now and deservedly so. He went through a year with no new product or product movement and scraped by. He's nice enough to let us play in the store without becoming "nagging gamers" like the Pokemon guys who buy little and take up space. I gaurantee if I would go to him and ask if he had gotten a preview fig, he'd blow it off like it wasn't important. Don't get me wrong, he IS a good guy, he's just had a rough year. So to me, LSOM and the preview fig is a dead subject.

Well, it looks like in exchange for having Saturday off for the tourney, I have to work the Wednesday of HoT's release. BUT (!!) If anyone would like to meet for a game in the morning, or after I get off of work that night, I'd be down.

When's everyone available for games, anyway? Seems like the board has died the last couple weeks, just after we'd gotten fired up again. I've still only met Jeff and KJ in town, and KJ seems to have been stolen by Gypsies in the night.

Hard to narrow it down.

Honestly, I'm not terribly interested in the Asgardians, which are the central theme of the set, but I'm busting at the seams for Guardians of the Galaxy, Runaways, and Thunderbolts, as well as just the other Marvel Awesomeness thats in the set.

Good for Thor fans for getting this, probably their only major display of love through all of Clix.

Gonna stay with two boosters at 300pt. build, unless NECA steps in and suggests differently. I know this set has alot of high point figs. However, there are PLENTY of keywords buildable with a fantastic pull.

*Guardians of the Galaxy
*Runaways
*Agents of Atlas (my personal fave from this set!)
*Warrior/Asgardian or Monster

But like everything we need to see the distribution to know for sure. Because Avengers Should have been buildable out of sealed but it wasn't. JLA was. M&M kinda and Crisis kinda.

They're out there. They're reprints of SI figures, sold in 3 figure clumps. SPidey/Doc Ock/Tombstone, Reed/Sue/Doom, Johnny/Ben/Mole Man.

Comical has a pretty informative post about them, seem to be just a cheap way for the retail kids to pick up the starter figures. They do have new numbers though, for collectors.

Dang, I was just thinking about Icons supes with Mjolnir, or any HSS brick for that matter, Super Prime, KC and Earth-2 supes, CD NGN supes, various Surfers, AA Zoom (Not technically a brick, but still nasty with it )

Even transporters like FF V Hawkeye

Granted its not something you can rely on at all, but the possibility is there... I'd feel sorry for the other person if it did happen.

Justin, you should have little problem in collecting the T-Bolts.
None are SR's and only Pennance is an rare. And BTY all 4 together are only 290 pts! Just couldn't run the ATA.:(

Thanks, I remember for the Songbird preview they said all the t-bolts (for this set) are 290.

I can add stunning blow to songbird to make it 300 unless the others have a better feat option. Not WW material but I like the fact they kept the cost in mind when making the figs, I am guessing they will be doing that for future sets.

Have they shown the official pennance dial yet?

And on a suktastic note I have seen a lot of reports about "god packs" for HoT :disappointed:

these packs are supposed to have 5 SRs OR 4 SRs and a Chase, to make up for this many bricks are being reported as having only 2 SRs :angry::disappointed::angry:

Chases were bad enough but now you have to chase uber backs? I am seriously going to be disapointed this weekend... I didn't think anything could make me want to buy boosters less but here we are..... :speechles:knockedou

assuming these reports are true, there are a lot of them so I don't think its a hoax but if someone gets a god pack this weekend we will know for sure...:confused:

I just went to Action Comics in Henderson to pick up my books and the owner, Paul, said that his HoT did not ship this week, although he did have the set posters. I don't think I'll buy into this set except a few boosters IF I make it to a tourney - would be great to see everyone again. Anyway, just thought you'd like to know.

at LSOM today. Of course, I was frustrated by my ever present low rolls - Thor opening AV of 12 + either 3 or 4 = doody; simple math. :tired: I also had the Spider Man in Thor garb. Didn't add much to the team, but I really like the sculpt. Bought one brick simply because the price was too good to pass up ($95, INCLUDING tax). Only pulled 3 SRs - dinosaur girl, Venus and Ultron. Not many, but I like what I read for their special powers. Not planning on buying any more unless we have another sealed.

Just wanted to thank everyone that showed up yesterday and supporting the fisrt sealed event at Little Shop. WE SOLD THAT M/F-er OUT!!!! Two friggin' God-Packs were pulled (by Eric and Tim). I'd like to extend a personal thanks to Jimbo for finally coming out of the woods to see us all at a tourney!:laugh: Thanks again all. What a day yesterday. I haven't seen people go that apesh*t over a release since Legacy. 4 cases gone before I got to the register! It was good to get to see everyone again and meet some of the new faces.

For me, had plenty of fun. Was suprised about the distro of the C/U's in the packes. Was expecting to see more of some figs and different pulls. After trading, got all of the figs I wanted in the set, save Phyla.

For the God packs, Eric got Frog and Tim got Thorbuster. I know they are looking to move the chases. Also going to see what SRs they want to move too. They're looking to get their money back for the bricks. Will sit down with them and find out what remaining figs they need and what price range they're looking at. Will post here first and give Vegas (& Dave) first crack.

For the future tourneys have some questions. I know there is a schedule NECA created for the prizes. Is there a post somewhere on the realms about the details? When what prizes are scheduled to be released and are they dictating the format of the tourney, sealed/constructed/etc.

For LSoM, I know the owner is sticking to the schedule and Jeff is finalizing the tourney dates.

For Oasis, how are you distributing the prizes and are you keeping the tourneys on Sundays?

For Battlezone, for those who go there, has anyone found out how they are doing the tourneys/prizes?

Thanks for the assist guys and the games yesterday. Off to make some new teams with the figs I have. :)

The reason I'm interested in the prize schedule is because I know some of the prizes are more sought after than the others.

The weeks the event dials, BFCs, or less sought after items are the prizes, players are not going to be going all out. Comic accurate, more obscure keywords, & tier 2 teams will be the norm. No harm, no foul, no worries.

The weeks Thor, that Anvil 3D Object, & the ATAs are the prizes, the players are going to bring it. Understood, have no problem with it, and kinda welcome it.

The above is an assumption, of course. But I'm pretty good in making myself an a**.

What I am looking for specifically is the GotG ATA. That's the only prize I want, and I know several other players want it as well. (It means they are also reading the best comic out there and you should too!) As Bruce Buffer says...IT'S TIME!!!!!!!!!!!:a-sharpshooter:

Now what that means is, I am not bringing my Secret Six or Ultimate X-Men team. I also won't be bringing Convention Top 4 worthy mechanics. Warbound, Nova Blast, Chase Brick, etc. I retired from that years ago.

But the team will be solid. Prob, Outwit, that silver power called Contingency Plan, multiple move and attackers with 10+ AVs. Jazz like that.

Now please don't take this as a threat or challenege or me being a d*ck. Just want to be honest with everyone.

I picked up a GoG ATA online, so if I happen across one via tournament, I'll redistribute that sucker back into the player base.

Great turnout on Saturday. I'd been looking forward to it all week, and was not disappointed. Great meeting so many new friends to compete with and, much like Lucky up there, looking forward to seeing the town's A-Game on those prize weeks.

Hopefully they'll fall on days I can keep getting out to matches. Mondays look to continue to be good for me, and maybe some weekend evenings. Anybody else got any input?

A powerful card, but can only be assigned to tier 2 figs. Not like TBolts.

There are 15 total figs with the GotG Keyword. Most powerful being Yondu, Starlord, or maybe One Who Knows. Not really shaking in my boots if I can't Outwit those figs.

And as for my mods, the most powerful is a Vet Photon or Ace. No IMP, no broken White Powers, etc.

And the jury is still out if they'll let me assign this to Gamora. :nervous:

When you build a team with the Units section (as you should always be) just click on the seventh line down (status) and choose tournament legal. If you are concerned about feats and objects, just click on the 5th line (rank) and choose special object or feat.

Monday, 30th @ 5pm is what we discussed at the last tourney. That slot works for me. I would vote for 400pts, able to play more figures and more varaity of team builds.

NECA has taken over the tournament rules. As of now, they have not changed anything from the last set of WizKids rules. Since most of the WizKids employees are now working under NECA there shouldn't be too many changes in the near future. The Restricted List will be updated at some point, but right now it is still the same.

For Constructed tourneys it's Supernova and up, & Origins and up. Plus all the box sets except Danger Room. On the Units Section, the top header that has all the sets listed, has them seperated.

Jeff: For a refresher, what are the house rules. Mods, BFCs, highlander, anything else. Thanks.

Justin: Can you post the prize schedule (or a link to it) on the first page. And the forthcoming LSoM house rules. Thanks.

with bluesummers, Tipping my hat to Dustin for driving from Sahara/Decatur out to Henderson. In addition to engaging in a great trade (thanks!), I picked up a stray trade with a guy trying to fill out his Runaways. I traded a Chase for two M-11s and then Dustin and I played two games. My 300 pt team was M-11 (x5) against (1) Beta Ray Bill, Arachne and US Agent, and (2) the Runaways. In Game 1, only one M-11 took any damage and that one regen'd twice with rolls of 5. In Game 2, two M-11s went down, but the team again prevailed. Last turn, Nico pushed to select Quake against two M-11s and rolled a crit miss. Lot of fun.

Thats cool Jim. Glad you're getting back into it. I heard a rumor (on the rules threads) that M-11 might be errata'd to a unique which would prohibit more than 1 on a team. We will have to wait and see.

The issue is currently up for debate. We are waiting for Wizkids to produce an RA.

I have no problem with any fig with the word Surtur in it's name getting the bonus. There are 3 (Surtur, Son of Surtur and Ragnarok Surtur)

However, the RA will probablly rule that just the SR (surtur) will apply. I expect it to be ruled like Lazarus pit and LE Ra's Al Ghul (Demon's Head) which was deemed incompatible.

Though you could argue that the ability is called MARCH TO RAGNAROK! and Rags surtur is post-Ragnarok...

With Demons head Ra's name was not in the title of the fig, this is a little different. Since the game is just coming back I expect them to rule for more playability as opposed to less...

Would anyone really be upset if they ruled the demons get the bonus from either Surtur figure? (Son of surtur is a stretch unless he has the same sculpt, I thought he was a Fire Demon sculpt, but if it works for him too thats even better)

Hey guys, it's so awesome to be back in the clix of things. Our game has returned! Good times last week with the first tourney and I think it's safe to say that all of us who can make them are excited about the upcoming tournaments.

Now on to other business. I promised to let my boys get first crack and so I will. As you mostly know, I have a Thorbuster and a couple other SRs I'm looking to unload. Right now it's Odin x2. I'm looking to try to trade the figs for some stuff I might need or sell them outright. If you're interested, let me know. I also have a few dupes from the CUR, but I think most people have everything by now. I'm going to try to have a complete Haves/Wants done in about a week or so, but School's been keeping me busy and I'm looking for a job too.

Just finished reading Blackest Night #5. Bruce Wayne is such a tool. Being used by Nekron and Black Hand like that. I always knew he hated the Justice League with all those years of plotting against them. I just never knew he would stoop to this level.

Only as long as there are no arguments!!!
OK here we go:
Highlander: no more than one of any Non-Generic.
Restricted: (unless otherwise posted): only tournament legal peices.
BFC's: Keep 'em at home as we don't use them!
Mods: If said Mod is on a LEGAL dial (ie. Not a dial mod and not retired) then it gets 1 keyword to make the team legal. So Rolland's Groot Mod would get GotG Keyword (and would benifit from the GotG ATA card once thats legal) for theme team purposes and NO OTHER KEYWORDS! Keep it to 2 mods max per team though.

Oh and the Turkey pog is legal as well!;) One per team of course!

I read it as when one of my characters is adjacent to three of your FDs, you get to roll ONE d6 against my one character and not that you roll THREE d6, one for each FD. However, if you have three FDs adjacent to three of my characters, then you get to roll three d6, one at a time.

That sounds right. I want to say it's like leadership. You roll up to 3 times, but more than one success equals only 1 damage.

The Silver has no card because it is a 3-D heavy object. The Gold one is the real puppy.

I think you roll per opposing character. but if three are adjacent to one its only one roll.

it says one or more, not one for each FD.

so if three opposing character are adjacent to one FD then you roll 3 times (one per character). However each is an individual roll so you couldn't deal 3 clicks to one fig in the example this example.

So guys, I've tried to listen to the clixcast a few times now. I don't know about you guys, but I can't stand it. I've determined that those two know nothing about the game. They complained about a few good characters, including Thor, Cap, and Moonstone. Made fun of Venom for the scuplt. Plus, the first ten minutes was them saying what they pulled, were missing, and asking people to trade. I have to say, I could do a better show hands down. My advice, ignore that one at all costs.

Made it out to Oasis today to play in the tourney. Needed to see Jeff and wish him a post Happy Thanksgiving and give him some CDs back. Good excuse to play some clix.

Just me and Eric. Had him play a new version of a 300pt Restricted team we are working on. Getting ready for those GotG tourneys. Learn more every game.

Supported the store and picked up 2 boosters. Karma rewarded me with a SR Thor & Loki! Very nice. The boosters were loaded from top to bottom. Thought would see more like this in the sealed. Also got:
Spider Thor, Molly, Moonstone, Thor, Namora, Bug, Hand Ninja, Phalanx Soldier, and Malekith.

Also got a Comedian Action Figure for $8 on sale. Nice!

I was also thinking maybe Takedown on Venom instead of Lunge and Alias OR Outsmart on Zemo and Stunning Blow on Songbird.

The advantage to the Zemo build is that I can actually build it as I still lack a SR Hawkeye.

I like the Hawkeye build because it is slightly more thematic as you can say Bullseye = Hawkeye and Swordsman = Cit V. (since we don't have a legal version of either character) .

Hitman could be a good dial for a moded Bullseye (with a maybe to Starlord as well, but thats a bit of a stretch with leadership)

Obviously, I play clix for the comraderie found within the group formerly known as Team Vegas. For those that were not present at LSOM tonite, let me say that MY DICE OFFICIALLY SUCK! It was bad enough during the HoT kickoff event when I pulled a Thor in sealed and could not hit opposing characters with my starting 12 AV, but tonite, OMG. Not only did I not hit with Thor and Loki's opening 12 AV with perplex, but I couldn't roll a shape change to save my hide. A tip of the hat to Roland and Tyler (great to see you again), who both rolled amazingly and crushed my 362 pt Mystic. I may tempt fate again and resurface ol' T&L when the time is right and that time is after I buy some loaded dice at the Gambler's Store on Main Street. I also learned for the first time the value of a Contingency Plan. I have never witnessed that card in action EVER and faced it twice tonite (played by the aforementioned Roland and Tyler).

Well, 300 Sealed again in two weeks for the golden Mjolnir, so I better get out to the Gambler's Store soon.

Had a lot of fun tonite - I think that is what the Cubs usually say after each game. :)

IMO, Contingency Plan is now mandatory on any restriced/floor team. It's that powerful. Captain America is the best figure in the set. Deflector Tragectory is sick and changes the way the game is played.

The Zemo build is the better build for a high level toruney environment. It gives you the combat pumps and Outwit that you need. You still have 4 Move & Attackers and the tie-up piece in Penance.

The Citizen V build is solid and a good tier 2 build. But at some point it will need to roll multiple 8's to win and the lack of support powers hurts it. Adding those to the Zemo team doesn't lower the attacking potential.

I was also thinking maybe Takedown on Venom instead of Lunge and Alias
Lunge is better giving you that Move & Attack. Both Jeff and I played it tonight. Ask the other guys how it worked. For Takedown, you don't need to dink & dunk the opponent. Venom will tear through them weather they pushed once or not.

OR Outsmart on Zemo and Stunning Blow on Songbird.

The Thor team is better but what do you think of this as an alternative.

SI Iron Fist + Lunge + protected + Alias

Its hard to match the damage power of Thor but Iron man adds some support powers and has psuedo imperv if he does not outwit (though thats the only advantage he has on Thor other than upgradeing Spidey to Iron Fist).

Iron fist can deal more damage than spidey (with exploit weakness) though he lacks spideys six range. he alsogives some more options with willpower.

I hate to put so many feats on him but with the points left over I could not think of a better use for them other than to put Alias or protected on Cap instead. Inside info and monster hunter did not seem as good as Alias but Inside info might be since you will probably see other Avenger teams. Not sure how useful monster hunter would be unless you expect a lot of Surtur of Wolf teams.

Bottom line, I cant honestly say I would take this team over the Thor team because this team is more finess, but still seems like an interesting option.

I make fun of Penance a lot because of the horrid failure he delivered when playing against Jeff's Agents of Atlas. Actually, I think he could be useful, but almost certainly not on a Thunderbolts theme team, and definitely not in a restricted environment.

Low movement, lack of any movement powers, and a low Def with a meager Toughness on the box make him a big fat target by the time he eventually meanders into range to cause trouble. If you can toss him up on a roof and have him FB Batman off of a ledge or something, that's cool, but he sure can't do it on his own. You almost need to have the old Songbird with Tk on the team.

Yes, you pretty much need Zemo and Con Plan to make the Thunderbolts effective. Con Plan is my fav Feat, and totally outclasses Lunge, IMO, except for the cost factor. 12 points vs 5 makes it easy to stick Lunge on a bunch of guys. But playing with your dial numbers is so crazy effective. Who needs luck?

Also good on Venom: Camoflage. Give him lunge and Camo in the Prison map, and let him bounce around the walls, punching as he pleases, and being generally immune to ranged attacks.

Cap's shield toss: game changing? maybe. Technically, the game would have been changed by the Sue Richards chase and her ability to ignore everything on line of sight. But the main difference between her and cap: 50 points. At 120, she'll never be as commonly fielded. I guess she can't see through terrain to outwit, either, but that's not something Cap can do in tourney environment.

Guys, lets not forget, this is Speedball we're talking about. Joe Q's favorite character...Nuff said.

Tim played an unrestricted TBolts team with LE Norman Osborn on it. (yeah I know he doesn't have the keyword) Penance basically played bodyguard to Norman and Songbird. Whenever would base, or get close to basing, he pushed them away. Not bad mechanic.

You're playing a theme team without Stealth and very effecient figures aside from Speedball. You can afford him to be 50pts of meat shield and "block" lof as you move up the map.

And even his usefulness as a meat shield can be debated. He has to be carried, or else your guys on foot have to slow down to match his pace. I'd rather break theme and throw 50 point Spidey on there, or even She-Thing.

Its a Soldier Keyword team. Biggest problem is the lack of mobility, no more Hive troopers to use in restricted (course now they only move at 6 when giving someone a ride)

For those that never venture outside the Vegas Forums: apparently there were Feats and BFC's from the HOT set that DIDN'T COME IN THE BOOSTERS! They are all posted on the Wizkids website. There currently haven't sent any reason why they were omitted and what the plans are to get them to us. Maybe the Wave 2 orders have them in boosters? Maybe they'll have them "available for down load" (which would SUCK!:tired:) Maybe we'll have to send in a HOT Booster box top to get a set?
We'll have to see....

Anyways Ambidextrious looks AWESOME! Red Arrow, you nave have 10 with:bolt::bolt: for a mere 93pts. Cassandra Nova, you now have 12 and :bolt::bolt: for 166pts. (well..that scarry but not so great).

Vampirizim can be deadly on cheap blades figs (Talia :knockedou)

Elite Sniper is expensive but OMG it's sickning! I could see that on Winter Soldier!

OK How about Elite Sniper on Alpha's Harley Quinn? The 4:bolt: range kind sucks and a 9 attack score isn't that great on a fig you're giving a 20 pt. feat to. But she Double-qualifies on her first 3 clix and is Stealthed. So the ability to shoot oposing stealthed figs and ANYONE DUMB ENOUGH TO BASE YOU isn't too bad for a 50pts. investment!

Okay, first off, those are some amazing feats. Ambidextrous, awesome. Elite Sniper is the best, though. A solid alternative to the retired Trickshot, and there are plenty of guys, like Airwalker, who need to get through stealth. Winter Soldier, anyone?

And Mopit, no, I never saw anyplace in Reno. I'm sure is some sort of game shop or venue I missed, as there is a college campus there, but generally I never found jack #### to do in Reno. Its basically Vegas' #######.

Colonel Logan can also do some stealth busting while in Stealth , and you might catch someone by suprise, though I don't think its worth the 20 point investment since he can only use it on his first 2 clicks

Okay, so here is my rules question that I didn't think of while playing Thor and Loki the other day.

T&L is a duo fig with RS. While adjacent to Roland's Scarlet Witch, I felt compelled to clobber her at close range with my object as my only course of action. While driving home, I wondered . . .

Could I have rolled break away to perform the RS, and if I failed to break away, could I have attempted a second break away to attempt a second RS attack? Based on everything that I just read in the FF Rule Book, I believe I could (should) have done that and not been hampered by that pesky little biatch.

If it doesn't, then the only possibility would be Dustin running it on his days off or me running it on tuesdays. Not sure what the future holds for Battlezone and clix. I'll keep ya'll posted.

The only foreseeable problem I have with that is if someone opens a god-pack. I think if that happens, they should be allowed to purchase an additional pack to open for the sealed. Opening one SR and passing it in order to win is the player's fault/perogative. Opening 5 SRs and having to pass four is not. I understand that these circumstances are not entirely likely, but could happen and I think having a stance on it before deciding what we're doing makes sense.

Don't know if I can afford another sealed (well I can charge it, but thats been getting out of hand) and i don't know if I really want anything else in the set that I can reliably get.

You then have to decide: I want this fig, but this dupe would be better for the tourney...

My vote is for sealed just for simplicity. (its also quicker since you know your figure pool right away)

I will be out of town 27th-3rd Hopefully I get an away game at the venue there.

I'm going to vote 'God pack dude keeps the god pack and gets a new pack to draft with' for the sake of players who are still missing lots of SRs or need the trade/ebay fodder to bolster their recent expenditure.

I am with you my friend! How does John mistreat us? The times I've been there for a tourney, he seemed to be stand-offish, but not overly rude. Like he has trouble with people being in his store if they're not shopping. When I was buying, he was really friendly and helpful. When I was a player, he seemed to be annoyed.

Thank you Jeff for taking the time to run and organize these tournaments and deal with the venue on our behalf. I also appreciate your enthusiasm in trying to make the tournaments more exciting and interesting for the players by not just running standard constructed games.

For the Draft:
Players realize this is for the highly valued and sought after 3D Object. By making it a draft you enhance your chances of being able to field a better and more competitive team, and thus increase your chances of winning the prize.

Now everyone will have different draft stratigies going into the tourney depending on what you want to get out of it. Winning the prize, filling out your collection, obtaining trade fodder, etc. But that is your choice to make and the envoy is giving you that choice. And keep in mind the "Bonus Feature" is designed to make the games more fun to play, not dictate the outcome of the game.

And if a God Pack is pulled, then that just means the venue makes a little bit more money with the player buying another pack.

For the Constructed:
This is also for another highly sought after prize. I know most players don't like special rules or build restrictions when high end prizes are available. But keep in mind, there are 2 tournaments the ATAs are going to be distributed, and there is another venue in town also running tournaments where the ATAs will be available. There are plenty of opportunities to obtain one.

And the restriction doesn't favor one player over another and won't dictate the outcome of the game. Every player is still building from the same figure pool. Top level mechanics are still available and solid teams can still be constructed.

The rules state if you are unsatisfied with your booster, you RETURN it and get a new one. A rules lawyer would enforce this. If you get a booster that has a problem, return it. Roland and Eric showed up for clix at Oasis today and I went 0-2

We decided to play different teams.

Team 1:
The t-botls team with Zemo and Contingincy plan.

Rolands Team:
Air Walker
AA Robin (Tim Drake) (the one with the smokecloud + incap SP)
Slave Lantern
Question (female)

We ruled that for Pennance special power adjacency did not matter IE if based with an opposing fig he could still FB another fig 6 squares away.

Could have killed Air walker if he haddn't actually missed hitting Pennance on his Damage SP clicks... (still would have lost) Rolland had forgotten about that power :angry:

Team 2
Ragnarok Surtur + Protected, inside info, Fall back, Lunge (which could have changed the game had I remembered to use it...)
Honestly I was just trying to fill points.

Rolands seemed stronger but after a long chess battle Eric came out with the W.

Not sure if they want me to spoil the teams so I will let them discuss it since I didn't really watch the whole game as I went to play some MTG.

As predicted my Buccaneers lost again. So I found myself at Oasis trying to forget about the pain. Congrats Justin on the Cards win. No matter what else happened that made your weekend. And Mike's whose Saints can now rest some players at the end of the year.

Once again I decided to support the venue by picking up 1 booster and karma rewarded me. Pulled a SR Valkyrie & a Phyla-Vell!!!!!! Eric also bought 1 booster and pulled a SR Venus. As predicted my Buccaneers lost again. So I found myself at Oasis trying to forget about the pain. Congrats Justin on the Cards win. No matter what else happened that made your weekend. And Mike's whose Saints can now rest some players at the end of the year.

Once again I decided to support the venue by picking up 1 booster and karma rewarded me. Pulled a SR Valkyrie & a Phyla-Vell!!!!!! Eric also bought 1 booster and pulled a SR Venus. At this point there isn't much farther the value of the cards can go down. The apparent "end" of clix combined with the current economic difficulties created a vast decline of all HeorClix, especially cardboard, on the secondary market.

In researching ebay: within the last 60 days the most expensive non HoT feat sold was a Warbound for $13.41. The average cost for a feat was between $3-5, and that was for LE's. ICw/O, Nova Blast, etc is down to $2 and change. Protected's aren't even selling.

Some online stores may have some Feats still listed at astronomical values, but they were not selling anyway. They will have to adjust their prices accordingly or just waste fees listing them.

If someone looked at these peices of cardboard as investments, then you just got burned. Welcome to where everyone else's 401K is at.

If someone looks at this as losing a competitive advantage they had over other players since they had something those players did not, then put down your Orange Lantern ring and learn how to play the game.

BATTLEZONE GAMES:

I called them today, and here's the word on this venue: Tournaments will begin there this sunday at 1pm. I did mention to them that they were overlapping with Comics Oasis, and they said they might change the time, earlier or later, so that there would be enough time in the day to hit both events if a player chose to do so (word on this will go out once CA and the players were polled by Battlezone over the weekend.)

This weekend WILL be the sealed event, they are following the suggested schedule from the prize kit for the most part. Owner said he swapped a couple weeks around for the sake of interest, and I think changed one of the sealed events into a booster draft.

So, that's the word for now. We've got two venues on Sundays and one on Monday.

Could sure use an all-night venue for some late Friday/Saturday games...

Still Draft as far as I know. That should help you. Even if you get a sub par booster, you only take 1 fig from it. Very rarely do you end up with a cr*p pull from a draft. Playability wise maybe, if your stragety was to draft for collection.

Deadpool's origins are conflicting at times. Happens when you start as a small character and have several writers work on your books in a short amount of time. The most used cannon is: he was dying of cancer, Weapon X injected him with Wolvie's DNA to give him the healing factor and save his life. Then he got to keep on working for Weapon X. IIRC, some origins have him as a mutant, some do not.

I'm there for Monday night. Tim is committed to coming as well, unless something comes up with school. Eric has to work.

And after the toruney I'm going over to Timber's to catch the rest of the football game. Depending when we get done we'll catch the 4th quarter, maybe some of the 3rd. Plus, the bartender there has a cute face and some big 'ole Powergirls. :knockedou

There is only one thing that can take your mind off a 26-3 pathetic loss to the NY Jets.....cute girls.

Which is what I had Friday night singing Christmas Kareoke. Cute face, beautiful body, job as a manager, and a non smoker!.....Until I got c*ckblocked by her two old, overweight lesbian friends. :disappointed:

So I settle for the next best thing, cute girls Saturday night when Eric & I went out. Eric got the cute Asian girl with big tits....I got the girl whose boyfriend showed up 10mins after we started talking to them. :disappointed:

So I settle for the third best thing, HeroClix at Oasis. With the aformentioned cute girl who reads comics that works there.

Three of us this week: Justin, Eric, and myself. Justin wanted to play 500pts, so he could run SCAM one round, and Thor's Chariot the other! SCAM beat Eric and the Avengers. That thing is sick beyond sick. Thor's Chariot, not so much. Not as scary as I thought it would be. Got taken down pretty easily by a Soldier team. Thing, Winter Soldier, & Cap = dead. Then my GotG took out Eric and the Sinestro Corps.

Once again supported the venue and picked up a booster. And pulled Odin$$$ Along with a Captain America and a Thor! That's 3 weeks in a row pulling a SR, and 3 out of 4 boosters I've bought there.

That was a power booster. Honestly wouldn't want to pull one like that tonight. I don't want to pass a Cap and a Thor!

And as for the cute girl who works at Oasis.....I have good karma at Oasis. :devious:

Chariot suffers worldsfinest syndrome, when one fig is your whole team, if he cant make an action every turn, odds are hes going down.

Things would have gone different if I made the imperv role, but thats the risk you take.

Maybe they should have given the chariot the super imperv that the Preview thor had? he doesn't have power cosmic so it could still be outwitted and he cant use fortitude being a Duo, but oh well I had fun. I hate payng for figs and never using them so OBJECTIVE: COMPLETE!

even though I went 1-2.

Game 1 was a strategic affair with Roland. My female Loki vs his Ulik (essentially), RW tied me up so that I could not Psychic Blast him. I managed to take out the other 3 characters on his team, but ultimately lost out. Great game!

Game 2 was against newbie Nate and I fared better.

Game 3 hit and out came the low rolls. Dustin's Vell was a monster against my low attackers with his 19D. I took out NObody, but it was fun.

Next contest is the night before New Years Eve - not so good. Not sure about attendance, but ya never know.

Oh, BTW, discovered that I still need a Moondragon.

Okay, so it's been a while since I've done a lenghty recap, but here goes. Going into the tourney, I had a few ideas about how to play this out, but you can't bank on that during a draft. Never know what will be passed to you. Passed a Songbird away and she came back to me for pack one. Opened pack two to reveal a Gert and a Fenris Wolf. Needed Fenris Wolf but pulled the Gert for the $$/trade value. Only fig I did this for tonight. Fenris also came back to me. I didn't play either one. Here's what I pulled:

Here's what I played:

Game 1 - Dustin
Dustin was playing a scary-boo team of Moonstone, Kurse, M-11, and Rock Troll. I say scary-boo because I had never seen a Kurse and he looked nasty. In addition, Moonstone and M-11 are pretty good. First I played fast and loose with my figs banking on SS to save them. It only worked for a while. But Pip got the Hammer! In the end it came down to my Daredevil finishing off Dustin's Rock Troll with the rest of my team gone and M-11 on the other side of the board. Game ends due to time. Daredevil's worth more points than M-11. Whew!

Game 2 - Jeff
Four asgardians versus the Super Senses Squad. Hiemdall dodge Bi-Beast powerful fist! Bi-Beast not get hit by Hiemdall either. Daredevil outwits Hiemdall's supersenses for the win. Great game.

Game 3 - Roland
Okay, so a really bad smallball banking on making supersenses rolls with low average AVs versus Ulik with a leap/climb PROBer who goes into outwit and a TKer with mind control and mystics TA. WTF??? I get lucky because Roland's dice aren't. Can't say anything else. I should have lost this match. Ulik misses Bug on two seperate occasions and both times he had a reroll from Rocket. Again, I should have lost. I tip my hat to you again sir, you are the best opponent I've ever played. And he didn't get peeved when the dice went cold.

So, with a 3-0 record I snagged a fine golden Mjolnir and also picked up an arena map that I plan on playing on when me and my roommate play next. Made some great trading as always afterwards and Dustin even gave me an Infinity Gauntlet dial that he didn't want anymore. Sweet! Will try to use when I have 5 hours to waste on a big multiplayer game.

Since HoT has come out, been busy on the trading forums. Viewing every day or so and sending out plenty of offers. Have a One Who Knows coming in, so my GotG are complete. Currently looking for a Judge Hal Jordan. If anyone sees one available LMK.

This Sunday at Oasis the Gold Hammer is the prize. Justin really likes Jeff's Hoard idea, so we are running that, only Unrestricted because I don't want to run the same team at two tourneys. Justin's running something around Hand Ninja's. Tim has a Teen team last I checked. I put together a 10 man SHIELD Swarm team! That will be fun. Eric will be stoned.

It's a piano bar downtown that I never herd of. Kinda afraid it will be nothing but musical theater fans, which doesn't bode well for a single straight man.

In the current rulebook, as long as the character is able to use a standard power, even if it is through a special power, it qualifies to be assigned the feat. Now, it can only use the feat when it can use the power, but so long as Nico has the power (through whatever means at her disposal) she can utilize the feat. Will this capability be in the next rulebook? It’s probably worth checking.

this is interesting, I am sure someone will think of a way to abuse this... though her stats and cost seem to be balanced, still probably some interesting feat combos with the ability to basically use any feat that has a power as a prereq.

Yeah Nico has SERIOUS potential. I've recently found out if she is on her perplex clicks and chooses perplex for her Staff of one, she can perplex TWICE! Also, with the above quote on those same Perplex clicks, she could choose outwit and then qualify for the Brilliant tactician you've assigned to her. Since the feat does not require Outwit to actually be on the dial for its use, I would read it that she can use Brilliant Tac any time she chooses Perplex for the power with Staff of One on her Leadership Clix, and then at all times on her Perplex Clix.
At that point, she could activate the feat once to Use Perplex once normally, once for all her teammates, and then once normally again. Brutal.

I am a member of a fan-site where people fawn over Mego dolls. There are some AWESOME modders on this site where artists make custom mego (8") dolls. I saw this one and thought of Bubblehead.

Tim & I both had the afternoon off today and got into some epic games of HeroClix. Saving the women hunting and money for tom night means nothing to do but play clix and troll the trade threads. Wanted to recap some for Bubblehead and others, and because sometimes you have to be reminded that HeroClix is fun. And we had some ESPN worthy highlights.

Gamora proved that she is the deadlest woman in the galaxy. She went after and took on Cyborg Superman all by herself! She KOed him and survived to the end of the game even with a Regen roll of 3 by Supes. Plus along the way she took out Yellow Lantern with one BCF roll of 6! Shows Superman for making a Shape Change roll. Gamora is Tits!

And we had Drax vs Arkillo Round 2. A rematch from Eric and I this past weekend at Oasis. Arkillo made the first attempt with a Charge in, and missed both attacks. Drax made him pay by making the first hit, with Knockback...right into Groot....Who then proceded to get tore up by Arkillo and was dead in 3 turns. :( Drax was tied up with some Manhunters and had to take them out before he made his way back to Arkillo. Fully healed Drax vs Arkillo 3 clicks done equals... a dead Drax! Yeah Arkillo owned him and proved how tough his dial is. Round 3 is scheduled for May on the undercard of Mayweather/Pacquiao.

Ambidexterous is nice on Sinestro and worth the points. Tim had a couple of double target EE hits on me. Manhunters are annoying to kill, can make decent attack rolls, and 4 Outwits!!! Uh that was brutal.

In the end the Sinestro Corps were no matach for the Guardians. Drax, Groot, Vance, & Mantis ate it, but the rest were still standing. Having grounded figs that could be carried was the biggest advantage. Plus the dials are combat oriented throught out with support powers here and there. And the cheap tie-up, hard to kill figures are perfect for the less than effecient primary attackers.

So what we have here is a shooter human team with nothing but 9 Attack Values vs 2 figs with ESD and 2 figs with Super Senses. What the h*ll do you think happened!?!? But SHIELD presses on in the face of adversity. It's not about the individual figure, but the big picture of capturing unregistered metahumans.

With some strategic use of the Teleport Pad and manipulating the limited combat pumps, SHIELD agents were able to capture 3 of the fugitives. Spider-Man, Iron Fist, and Scarlet Witch. For some reason the two figures with ESD managed to survive? But mad props to Tim for playing them well and keeping them on Hindering Terrain the entire game.

We found out that Hawkeye blows because you can't use his White Power to pump his attack when he makes a Running Shot. Not that it matters because he went after the Mandroid Armor.

On a side note, HoT Cap is no longer allowed to be played on any kind of team or game that is described as "Fun".

Yes the Secret Six took a contract to kill kids. It's what they do. A bunch of hardened assasians with 10 AVs and 17 Defenses with plenty of move and attack vs a bunch of rookies with 9 AVs. Not as easy as you think when you have 4 Super Strength figs, 2 with Invulen, and 2 with Shape Change.

Tim pressed the action on turn 3 and got a little too close to the team. Charge BCF by Catman and Stature is gimped. Some strategic basing and the route was on.

In the end it was BCF rolls by Scandal and Catman that did Tim in. Multiple 5's & 6's. Kinda brings back some memories of a certain dome headed figure that has a tendancy to get blades'd for 6!

Close quarters, the Six are deadly. At range, not so much. Against hardier dials, not as easy. And the Young Avengers are, well, young. They are represented well as kids on their dials.

Okay, so now that I'm out of school for a couple of weeks and am in no rush to get anything done, I've got a lot of free time on my hands. And seeing as how I just read Thor: Disassembled (I've been jonesing to since it happened and HoT renewed the flame) I decided to try and make a couple of 1500 pt. teams to represent the forces that fought during the comic. They look like good fun, though I think Thor's team will kill the hell out of Loki's. Pour the damage specifically on Surtur and Ulik and you've got 16 sub-par figures taking up space. Sif will make quick work of Ulik, if played properly with the Valkyrie SR. Meanwhile the Generic Asgardians can key off of several figures, and they can heal them up to stay active as well.

I say that now, I realize Loki and Surtur both can be pretty brutal, Ulik too, in the right company...

I wonder what Event dial this would go best with?

Don't forget that Loki's team has 2 more Asgardian theme team probs than Thor's and Loki also has the power on his dial.

other than that, interesting teams. I have only played him once but I like plays RagS and his Fire demons. ThAnK WK they ruled the FD's ability to work with RagS or regular Surtur.

They still don't work with Son of Surtur but thats ok, he a different character, RagS card freakin said "Real name: Surtur". I know common sense has no place in clix but that would have just been...

anyway, cant wait for tommorrow :cool:

What an interesting Sunday. Today at Oasis it was just Justin and myself. He ran a 6 man under 50pt fig team against my 10 man SHIELD team. SHIELD was able to capture 3 more unregistered metahumans before they were taken down. Eventually all will be caught!

Elektra took out Montoya Question with 1 BCF roll of 6! I have a tendancy to roll 6 on blades rolls, right Dave. The MVP of the tourney was Kid Flash. He took out 4 figs after Elektra hit him for 2 and onto Charge. *shakes head* How is that figure worth only 45pts.

Changed it up and picked up a booster of Arkham to support the venue...And pulled a SR Sabacc! That's 4 weeks in a row pulling a SR. How many more before you guys get the hint and make your way out to Oasis?

On a side note...

TAMPA...BAY...TAMPA...BAY...TAMPA...BAY!!!!!

My Tampa Bay Buccaneers went up to Seattle, in the cold and rain, and laid the smackdown on Bubblehead's Seahawks. 24-7, but that doesn't begin to describe the dominace of the Bucs in the second half. In a season of trials and tribulations this is a great win for our rookie QB.

That Seahawk Mego doll is worthless now because it just got skewered by a Buccaneer!!!!!
