Well, I just ebayed a couple more pieces for Dreamblade. For some reason, on EVERY website that seels them, it says Eater Of Hope's Appease ability was a blade ability, and not a come-into-play ability, which kept me from getting one (and netting a Whirlwind Dervish instead).

Brats...oi vey, do they play just about anything or was it just Horrorclix.

I've dealt with enough brats when I did my stint through Yugioh....never again!

When's Kools supposed to have the Dreamblade tournaments goin?! The Mrs. is prolly wondering why there have been an influx of boxes at the house. (God, I hope she doesn't see the invoices that have Scarab Warcharms in them, I'll freakin fry for it!)

It has been 33 posts since I was on the thread, and it has been worth the wait. I have GREAT NEWS!

As of Monday, Dreamland Hobbies is offically an active venue, once again, for all WizKids games!

I recieved an email from venue support expressing their sincerest appologies for the misunderstanding (below). Tournaments start up next week, Oct. 4th. Prize support will be shipped for the November tournaments, just in time for the SuperNova Marquee. Unfortunatlly, that means you have to get the NGN fig and map from Kools. Thanks for everyone sticking by me during this. I look forward to seeing all of you once again.

I caught up on all the latest gossip in the thread. Here are a few of my thoughts in no perticular order...

I literally pissed myself when Sleazy sang It's Raining Men. I had to go into the bathroom and clean up. Words can't do it justice. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. I haven't pissed myself since Pulp Fiction when they blew the guys head off in the car.

Brady Quinn will look great in a Bucs uniform.

The Father of Team Vegas is in town.
Hopefully everyone will get a chance to meet my Dad while he is here on vacation. He went to the DreamBlade tourney with me, and will be at Dreamland, and may make it to Kools.

I apologize to everyone for the teams I have made Quite Storm the past two weeks at Kools. March-a-Tron and Trick Shot Mags were my ideas.

Funhog Ranch is the offical watering hole of Team Vegas.

I went 3-0 at the DreamBlade tournament Monday at Horsehead Hobbies. The look on their best player's face was priceless. There is a new Top Dog in Town, and he belongs to Team Vegas!

How does that happen? I tip my hat (once again) to "old" Eric and humbly accept third (albeit a weak third). Finally, to end the day, my third place choice of prizes got snaked by someone else playing at the lower end table, coming out 2-1 - another misunderstanding of the table ranking aspect of the Kools method. Gawd! As if putting up with the Horror Clix kids at the venue wasn't bad enough . . .

Thankfully, we return to the land of milk and honey this Thursday evening.

FYI to all Team Vegas Members:
The Return Tournament at Dreamland Hobbies will be held on Oct. 19th at our normal time of 5:30pm. I talked with John (the owner) and he will be out of town for the first two thursdays of October. Prize Support will begin for the November tournaments.

The tournamnet will be 500pts unrestricted, BFCs allowed, Highlander Rule in effect, nothing banned. I highly suggest running HSS. We all know a certain member of Team Vegas, *cough*Bad6423, gets excited in his pants when he sees a chance to run the Bikini Stallion.

Ignore what the main WizKids site lists for the tournamnets. I have to go in there and reschedule, and the site is down right now. Will let you know when it is correct.

Carp In A Hat! I hate it anytime Philly wins. The loathing I feel for that team is beyond all levels.

To think, years ago in the 90's, they were so desperate for ratings and more public attention that they created a rivalry with Dallas that never existed prior to this.

Dallas's only rival was and is the Redkins. And, to some degree, the Steelers from all the Super Bowls they competed against each other in back in the 70's.

Just got Inquest and it has a spoiler list for Supernova!!! Just wanted to let everyone know that the "Buy it by the brick " figure is going to be Secret Wars "cosmic" Doom!!!:devious: Finally giving homage to Secret Wars! That is the first serries I read when I started collecting comics! This set has several highlights for me personally. Karnak is my 3rd favorite Marvel superhero of all time (Black Panther is 2nd and Hawkeye is 1rst). The Squadron Supreme is the second serries I collected and allways holds a special place for me. Then the I own almost everything that has ever been printed about the Guardians of the Galaxy, so you might say I like them! One comment about Yesterdays post... Annihilus - The main protagonist of Annihilation.
Quasar - He DIED in Annihilation so Nova could live for crying out loud.

This past Saturday, all four of us (Jim, new Jeff, old Mark and me) played in the sealed tourney at Kool's. We all pulled a Unique. New Jeff pulled Black King ( who is a BEAST:devious: in sealed!), Mark pulled Stilt-Man, Jim pulled Crystal and I pulled Jocasta:cry: AND Purple Man:grin: . Don was Dumbfounded that we all pulled Uniques, and that I pulled two FROM ONLY TWO PACKS!!! Anyway new Jeff won 3-0. Two weeks in a row, go Jeff! Any who, Maddrox is pretty cool. This tourney will mark my triumphent return to the Minor Venue! And what better way to make a return than with a 400pt unrestricted (mostly) tourney. Now if you really want to Screw Fellowship, I would follow the steps outlined above but replace Vet Transporter Hawkeye with Vet Black Adam. :eek:

Otherwise, Triple H should be showcased as the most dominate figure in the environment. Ultimate Phoenix and Firelord will turn most figures into extra crispy! Only 5% of the Seth-Block figures should be played, the rest can't hang with the old school figs. Will anyone attempt to turn Tomar Re's debut into a winner!?!

Supernova Map:
I'm not sold on this map. Don't like the shifting of the starting areas. And the areas are imbalanced, one is closer to the Alien Temple than the other by 1 square. And yes, 1 square makes a hugh difference.

I also don't like the rules for the Space Terrain. I don't like the fact that 1 map has rules that the 3 other Invitational legal maps don't have. Plus the rules need some FAQing, will have to wait until Hair10 does it.

SPECIAL MAP RULES: SPACE TERRAIN
Equipped with personal life support and zero-g maneuvering jets, your assembled force leaps into the void!

Squares inside the boundary of an orange line on this map are space terrain. Space terrain is clear terrain modified by the following rules:

Characters given move actions when they occupy space terrain modify their speed values by +2 for the action. Halve the range values of all characters occupying space terrain and all characters drawing a line of fire to a character occupying space terrain.

A successful attack that does not otherwise knock back a character occupying space terrain knocks back that character a number of squares equal to the damage dealt -2, to a minimum of 0. When targeting a character occupying space terrain with Force Blast, roll two six-sided dice instead of one. All knock back ends immediately when a character enters the first square that is not space terrain. Characters occupying space terrain are not dealt knock back damage if their knock back paths are ended by the edge of the map.


Seth's Knockback Explaination:
Remember that lack of gravity that allows all characters to move more quickly, and to nearly fly across the map? It also means that they are much more vulnerable to getting thrown around. On Deep Space, characters in space terrain are knocked back normally if an attack roll against them results in doubles on the dice--but they are also knocked back (if not already) by any attack that deals 3 or more damage. Note that the knock back is based on damage dealt, not damage taken; powers and effects that reduce damage taken can’t protect you from the effects of space terrain!


Guardians of the Globe (Team Ability)
When a member of this team rolls doubles on the dice on a successful attack roll, the target is not knocked back. The attack deals damage normally. If the target has zero or one action token after the attack has been resolved, give the target an action token.


So auto knock back (reguardless of damage reducing powers) and Incap when doubles are rolled.:cool: I LIKE IT!!!Hold on there Sparky. This is going to be a serious timing issue that only Hair10 can rule on offically. The key is when does the Space Terrain and the Team Ability check for knockback.

Doubles are rolled on the dice; Space Terrain checks here and says the fig is getting knocked back, I'm good and I turn off.
Then the TA checks for knockback and says, ok you stay put and take a token.
End result, the figure is not knocked back.

Another Question for "Cappy... Will we be able to T-bolt to the GG TA at Dreamland?Yes. The Team Ability does not state that it cannot be copied by Wild Cards. So you can TBolt to Guardians of the Globe Team Ability.

I disagree that Incap on the Sentinel is bad. Incap is a great power for a capture type team. And what does the Sentinel excell at doing? Capturing Mutants of course. Just like Barrier is generally thought to be useless so is Incap. I think both powers used to be useless, but now with all of these POWERFULL feat card s coming out and those allready out, this is no longer the case. Incap is the best attack to use on a target with Mystics and/or a target using protected. Think about it!

This week it is 300pt restricted. Your Captain will be building the teams for everyone. We will try an simulate a Top 8 at an Invitational to help The Stuntman of Team Vegas, Bubblehead, get ready for Texas.

I'll tailor the teams to each of your playstyles and not ask you to play something out of your range. I need everyone to bring their own BFCs and Feats to use. I know I don't have enough. Also, certain figs will need to be brought that are used on multiple teams.

I know right now, if you have an Oracle, bring her. :)

NOT TITS: Having that crappy HT vet Superman hit my Son of Darkseid with a roof-top airconditioner taking him off of that all-powerful first click.

TITS: Revenge. Outwitting his Superman's imperviousness, TKing SoD next to him, picking up an Electric Pole, rolling a critical hit, smashing him with close combat expert, and having him bounce off a semi on his way back for a total of 4 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 10 points of damage. My best attack EVER!

NOT TITS: Finding out that Superman goes 11 clicks deep, and not being able to finish him off. Watching as the next guy pings him for 1 and gets the points.

Jack played Magneto (U)-AW brick team.
New Jeff played an Emerald Empress (V) novablast team.
Old man Jim played a Hawkeye (V)-FF/ LAMP team.
And Unsung played a Mockingbird Swarm team.

Thor's and Silver Surfers are very good in the sealed format.

Hyperion is a great piece. However I didn't see any in the top 8. He's a wait and see.

No Visions. No Genis/Photon/Captain Marvels.

Stealth is excellent in this.

Alpha Strike can lend itself to points, points, points.

Don't let anybody tell you different: You can play the Vet and hands down he's the best. He took 6 clicks and would be HSS around that map.

I was the only one to pull the Vet Surfer out of 2 cases. Seriously.

One Zombie Wolvie was pulled.


Supernova map is made for HSS hit and run.

Took down a E Surfer team. A Jack of Hearts/R Surfer team.

I got 2nd place. The final round was counted separate. So I cleared only losing the pog and Jubilee. (DUH!) Got 565 points for the Final round. Guy who won cleared his opponent in 10 minutes. How???? Did his opponent just cave in??? Not play at all??

The winners team: E Dr. Spectrum, U Binary, 2 other things.

I played him for honor since the top 2 didn't play each other, legally.

Surfer killed them, too. It wasn't funny.

However, he walked out with a brick of Supernova. I won my choice of Purple (after the winner picked) and 3 extra boosters. Winner's purple choice was Super Skrull. :confused:

The Invitationals are being played on the Supernova map....only. No map choice. That's it. Yeah...........teams won't be skewed for that, huh??? :noid:

So basically , in case of Wizkids wants to get some oxygen flowing, grabbing both of their shoulders, yanking really, really hard, and pulling their collective heads out of their asses, I'm bringing two teams. The aforementioned Little Orphan Annie team and the new one that Lucky and Shield001 were kind enough to playtest out for me last night. Seeing as how I do better when I haven't played for a long time, I won't be playtesting. But I know (KNOW I TELLS YA) that you all have my back. And with that known, I can't lose.

The new team: It is and it isn't my usual flavor. In one sense I get to do what I do best. On the other hand, it puts in a mechanic I haven't used in months. So......


Strange things will be afoot at the Circle K! :laugh:

Looking forward to giving Texas my best. I hope that my ONE booster of Supernova lends me one of the big three. It's the only way (barring your opponent rolling snake eyes to start) I'm going to win. This allowed the Muscle to play KC Flash and Hypersonic his way to victory. Firelord may have had something to do with that as well.

Smallball team underneath the Giant that allowed no one to base. A Taunted Batman invited enemies to come and say hi to Alloy.

Third Place - Tim:
A Valinus Wild Card Abuse Team that the Captain built for him last second.
Sue Storm, Mystic, Bat Enemey w/ 12 AV. Pretty standard stuff. However, the Former Plucky Comic Relief of Team Vegas only played it to a 3rd place finish. A Disbanded had something to do with that.

Fourth Place - Quiet Storm:
An Experienced Yellowjacket.
Paying no attention to the Giant, an Invincible balance build underneath Dr. Pym. Bad dice rolls and a craving for nicotine hurt in the end.

Fifth Place - Jack:
A Colossal Boy.
Teamed up with an all X-men theme team, Jeanie couldn't service the Giant with enough clicks to stay in the game.

Back in good old Vegas. Gen Con was fun.... but a bust. I'll let the Captain speak of his own experiences, but for 'ol Quiet Storm the highlight of the weekend was......Star Wars battle league! I know GD WotC game, but nothing says we want your money like constant free figs. Also got hooked on Killer Bunnies......Someone is going to have to play since I shelled out hard earned cash to buy the whole set!

Is there a game this week at the "tortured by kids" venue? Not sure with the holiday and all......

Hey Guys.

Here are the pictures I took at GenCon this past weekend.

Ended up 22nd in the Dreamblade 10K. That netted me a cool $100. Missed out on the Top 16 due to lousey tie-breakers. Or the fact that I went 4-3. If my dice behaved I would have made Top 16 and earned $250.

It was a good con. Not the greatest con ever, or my most successful ever, but a good trip none the less. The best part were the porn stars at the Spoils booth. I swear I've seen them naked on the internet before.

Now off to Dallas, and then to Seattle.

BTW, if you are looking for a Zombie pull from Supernova, Don pulled Colonel America last weekend, so your odds of pulling one from another Kools booster are probably quite low considering the 1 zombie/100 booster (400 pieces) distribution. :rolleyes:

Our Captian said he needs ideas for scenarios for December... the only two who haven't got a pick are Jack and Jim. Here is a suggestion for a Jim scenario... 500 pts. one character must be over 150 pts and all attack dice rolls that result in 3's are critical hits that result in doubled knockback! I've been thinking about Unsung's suggestion more. To keep it within existing parameters of the game, how about no BFCs except that Madness and Extraordinary Day are in effect on all boards? I like the 500 pt team. I probably would have said at least one fig is 200+, but that may be too restrictive for some, so 150+ would be fine. ;)

Robo Supes is still going for at least $25 online. The best Seth Unique caps out at $15 after the buzz from the set has settled. Most go for $8-10. This drop in price happend when they went to 16 uniques per case, up from 12, in Armor Wars. And Super Skrull is not going to be the most expensive unique from Supernova.

Bottom line Robo Supes will hold its value over time, Super Skrull will not.

As a litmus test, do a search for the Dark Knight Detective Batman and see what it is going for. It was the first figure only available by buying a subscription. Then search prices for 2nd tier uniques from Seth sets, Mystique, Owlman, etc.

I can tell you I just sold an Owlman on eBay for $5.

All Attack Rolls that result in exactly 1 under the Target Number needed to hit the target result in a Critical Hit. This Critical Hit is not affected by Madness.

I've done several scenarios over the years that alter the to-hit and Critical Hit/Miss rules. We can hammer it out this Thursday.

What figures are "Big" and what figures are "Colossal"? Can a Sinestro construct carry an adjacent teammate because he has the flying symbol?Big Figures were Sentinel and Sinestro Construct. Then when Galactus and such they made a new catagory "Colossal". When the Icons (maybe the Universe) rulebook came out they erratted it and grouped them all in one catagory.

Now there is no catagory "Big" for a figure. A Colossal figure is one with the Fist for the Damage Symbol instead of the Starburst. The Colossal Figures are:
Sentinel
Sinestro Construct
Dark Phoenix
Jean Grey Phoenix
Galactus
Spectre

Yes Sinestro (and Sentinel) can carry figures because they are flyers.

Okay I guess that was my que to try and answer Luckys reply to Sheild001's question. This set is supposed to have Ahinillation figs in it. Drax (V) is the Drax from Ahinillation (hence the blades clicks for the new knives he has been carrying). Nova(V) is also from same said comic. The AE paring in this set (IMHO) is supposed to be from the Infinity Gauntlet serries from the 90's. Surfer actually ripped the gauntlet of off Thanos when Captian America distracted him. A couple of people on this site have posted that Thanos should have been an REV. The rookie should have had Drax the Destroyer as his AE. The Experienced should have Adam Warlock as an AE (which would have required them to print one for this set). And Veteran should have Surfer as his AE. That is my (and several other Joes on this site) opinion.

For those who read the thread, Hari10 and Normalview answered the questions posted in the thread correctly.

In a nutshell, you can Mastermind the damage dealt from Earthquake.


However, another question and point was brought up. It dealt with First Turn Immunity (FTI). Here is the offical wording of FTI from the Heroclix Comprehensive Tournament Rules:

Section 1.12 First-Turn Immunity
A character, which is still in its original starting position on the map, may not be attacked or damaged, except by friendly characters, until after each player has completed his or her first turn.

For those of you who don't have a background in Magic this describes three game situations.

1. A character cannot be attacked on the first turn. We knew this. It can, however, be targeted by something other than an attack by the opponent (i.e. Outwit). This even applies if the character did something but did not move (i.e. put up a Barrier or Smoke Cloud).

2. The character can be attacked or damaged by a firendly character. This applies to Pulse Wave or EE Splash Damage, or other game effects. And leaves room open for future mechanics.

3. A character cannot be damaged, period, if it still occupies its original starting position. This covers damage not dealt through an attack. That would be Earthquake damage, Proximity Mines damage, and Mystic damage.

That means if an Earthquake pops while you still have FTI, you DO NOT take damage. Also, if Proximity mines go off you DO NOT take damage. (Tell Tyler I apologize). And finally, if your opponent moves a Mystic within your range on his first turn, and you stand still and attack it while you still have FTI, you DO NOT take Mystic damage.

The Earthquake is done for the rest of the game and the Mines are removed from the game.

Well that's long enough. Here is a quick synopsis of the pulls:

The Arms Dealer pulled a Zombie Spider-Man from his brick. Not the 3 packs for the tourney.
Jack pulled a Vet Surfer.
No Vet Hyperions, Vet Thors, or Korvac's for the torueny.
I pulled a Thanos.
I spent $24 on the boosters, and then sold all of the figs for a total of $38...Tits.
I really don't remember much else. Didn't care about the non rares and such.

The Muscle ended up winning going 4-0. Jack of Hearts and Pulse Wave helped. He took King Hyperion. Mark (yes old, theater Mark) came in second. Took out Unsung Hero in the final round to win.

As far as other pulls and game reports, you have to wait for the others to post.

Yes Kool's did but I don't think Don has any left!:cry: I pulled A Thor (v) but did not play him as per my standard doctrine of not liking to feild bricks. I instead chose to use the following team:
Karnak (my second )
Weapon Alpha (R)
Vision (R) that 3rd click is sick!
Sunspot (V) this figure is a sleeper! TRUST ME!
Did surprizingly well 2-2. Hit about 5 crit hits with Extra-ordinary day in play.I roll alot of elevens, what can I say. Props to Mark for second place! You are the man bud! Allow me to be the one to report that the "highlight" of last night was Tyler's Jane Foster pog + lazer turrent taking out two of my figs and my Forbush Man pog (rolled 11 or crit against my D17) while taking no damage due to my lousy rolls - I never rolled higher than a 4 coupled with my 7 or 8 attack, so Jane's D15 held up.

Of course, next week, the "Jim Rule" goes into effect - "one under" equals a crit hit. BEWARE, FOR I WILL BE A GOD!!!!!

Per the RA at Texas.......

PC, outwit, Perplex, and TK(unless you're targeting someone, then it's a ranged attack) are NOT limited to the half rule.

Ranged attacks only. INcluding Pulsewave, HSS, and RS.

If you're attacking a Soaring figure from range, you're doing so at 1/4 range effectiveness.

It's a close combat map.

IS the range cut in half or not is the question.When you are targeting a figure occuping Space Terrain with a Outwit, PC, etc. it is at full range. If the target is Soaring and occupying Space Terrain, the range of the Outwit, PC, etc. is cut in half.

Basically Space Terrain has no effect on any 10 range Power like Outwit, PC, TK, etc. Treat the situation as if the character was in regular Clear Terrain on a standard Outdoor Map.

I have an early Christmas present for everyone this Thursday. The Mother of Team Vegas has sent some home baked goodies from Florida for you guys. They were literally labeled "for the Guys". My computer had a nasty virus that wiped all my media. Thankfully I had like half my MP3's downloaded on various devices. I'm looking forward to a good game tommorrow. (BINARY IS COMING!)

This week has been decent all and all and I am starting to adjust to the colder climate. I guess it's all just a part of the overall adjustment of my new profession. I'll see everyone tommorrow.

It's never too early to start planning for the Cons next year. In fact, it's probably better so you can set your travel plans. Below is a schedule of all the major Cons throughout the year and a few smaller ones close to Vegas.

As we all know, the HeroClix Invitationals are heald at each Wizard World. The other Cons may have HeroClix tournaments, but nothing as big as the Invitationals. WizKids attends some, but not all. For instance they were not at GenCon SoCal this year.

For Dreamblade, the 50K Championships are at GenCon Indy. I bet most of the remaining Cons will have at least a 10K. There was one at DragonCon this year, and the next one is scheduled for NY Comic Con in Feburary.

As for other games...well you guys don't play other games. I hear the National Championships of Killer Bunnies will be at Indy this year. :)

There is a thread about it in here somewhere. With a T-bolts heading and I think it's under the rules questions section. I"m quite sure the answer is yes. I know the wording has changed, but it is still allowed.

Not until I see an entry in the Errata or FAQ saying you can do this. I read (one of) the threads on this topic and the judges in there were answering the questions wrong. Not just about TBolts, but about other issues as well.

I realize the actual wording of Thunderbolts says "team ability" and not "team symbol". Doesn't matter in this case. All Team Abilities key off of having the same Team Symbol. What confuses the issue is WizKids inconsistency with the phrases "team ability" and "team symbol". In this case, the intent, and my interpertation, is that the effects are keying off of the Team Symbols.

Ant-Man cannot share his defense with Hyperion. Don't ask this, don't argue this point.
