hypothesis-
i think firelord is the most cost effective figure in the game BUT he is not broken. i only think teams with dupes of firelord are broken.
relative advantage: dupe firelord team>>>>>>singe firelord team>/= no firelord team
background:
i've heard many people say "oh firelord isn't that hard to beat, i just take out his medic and base him" or "dupe firelords are just as easy to beat, firelord has many weaknessess" or "firelord is broken, i can't beat him!" or "i've been firelord cheesed, i've been beat by 2 firelords!"
and then came about all of these exhibition matches on the forums to see if firelord really did have the advantage. but the main flaw in my mind was that there was no way of telling the skill level of each player. the player with firelord could be just a whole lot better than the other one or vice versa. so whenever someone boasted that they beat a multiple firelord team easy and talked about their strategy i always imagined some 45 year old man beating up a little kid with 2 firelords.
so the best way to do this would be to get identical brains to play each other, but since we don't have that... my experiment will have to do...
the experiment:
i will play 3 MARVEL tournies. first will be a team with multiple firelords, second will be a team with 1 firelord, and third will be a team with no firelords. now hopefully if this experiment goes as planned, i will do MUCH, MUCH better with the multiple firelord team and a little better or just even with a normal team using one firelord. i'm not saying i will win, but relatively speaking, we will see if firelord is fair or broken and if dupe firelords are fair or broken.
to compare i will do total points of each tournament and i will not count matches where i go against another firelord. hopefully the competition will be about even for each of the three tournaments... if not this experiment WILL BE VOID.
the tournament starts in march, my first team will be-
rook firelord x3
exp wasp
rook doombot x2
exp hydra medic
my second team will be based on the first team except i will most likely use a better version of firelord and comparable ranged characters with rce or high base damage to begin with. *** i will try not to introduce any specialty character that will give ANY NEW POWERS*** so i will not be adding a black panther for outwit, scarlet witch for reroll or invis girl for defense... i believe this will keep the comparison fairer to the first dupe firelord team.
my third team will be one of the two teams that won the first two tournaments. i feel this will best represent a good competition team.
----- i think they key point to this experiment will be that i am pretty much the same skill level for each team i use so we don't have to worry about the individual's skill level messing up the comparisons----
i will update after every match.... feel free to add to the discussion or add any ideas.
:p
