help with taking apart bases

hey...i'm thinking about trying some mods for the first time and was wondering if there was an easy way to take apart the bases of figures and put them back together............any help appreciated.......

They actually pop apart (both types) fairly easily. I just use a tiny screwdriver to wedge them open.

I use a letter opener with a rounded tip (i.e., not a point). Place it between the inner part and one of the long tabs, then pry it off. Works like a charm!
