I know it's a closely guarded secret and that we've only been able to get close so far, but I'd like to personally beg for you to release the Clix points formula.

Here's my hopefully coherent and persuasive logic. ;)

1) You'd make a lot of us really really happy. (Heh.)
2) We still can't use the homebrews in tourneys.
3) If anything, sales will increase as folks look for figures to mod into their obscure favorites.
4) It worked for Battletech, Crimson Skies and Renegade Legion...sure we could make our own mechs, planes and space foo, but in the end, we also bought the recognition manuals like they were going out of style.

I know this may be out of your control and may in fact be tied to the contracts with Marvel and DC, but in a hobby that has a conversion base as large as this one, I think it would be awesome to let us do points for some of our mods.

Conversely: Get someone to do a "splat book" of just stats. What is the REV for Captain Atom for instance? Limit this to figs that you basically are never going to make, or not anytime soon. If you do make a fig, well all the better as once it comes out, someone could put their hard contested mod on the proper base and be fully legal. I think the splat book would be amazing and you could do them like the old Marvel/DC RPGs did them. JLA, JSA, Titans, X-men, Avengers. Maybe just one for Marvel and one for DC, maybe 2 for each, villians and heroes, but I think if you put enough of the little buggers in a book, we'd buy them by the truckload.

Just my 2 cents,

1. I don't think that people have gotten all that close. I don't want to denigrate the work that people have done, but if WK is really stiking to a formula, then even the most recent (fan) formula is way off.

2. Publishing the formula creates a much larger opening for criticism. I wouldn't be surprised if , for example, the formula has different costs for the Avenger and Brotherhood team abilities, and, of course, the cost.

3. There may be limits on what the formula handles. There's probably a reason that there aren't medics with an attack higher than 8 or figures with BCF and RCE.

Regardless, we already know that the formula doesn't accurately reflect how usefull the figures are, MoE and Incapacitate are overpriced, flight and flurry are underpriced.

*Shrug* So don't release the formula, but the splat books would be very useful methinks. Now considering the sheer number of potential characters, My guess that the absolute earliest you could see anything like this would be late 2004 and that's if they started on it tomorrow morning. ;)
