View Full Version : Clix in an envelope

So I got some clix in an envelope...some SR clix in an envelope...some SR clix sent internationally in an envelope.
By some miracle they aren't broken, and checking the forum trading rules there doesn't appear to be anything about only shipping in boxes (which I've already PM'd Phant about adding. I remember it being in the old rules sticky), so I'm thinking I should still leave positive feedback.
Let me just post some pics here then have people leave their thoughts.

As you can see, using the most loose technical definition, the figs were 'in a box'; but you have to count something made from card as flimsy as those ultra thin 3 for $1 birthday cards you can buy, which was then placed in an envelope, and arrived as flat as the envelope.
PS - Just before sending the seller informed me that one of the SR's was missing its card. He offered a full refund but would not give a partial refund because he said that with his shipping costs it was still a good deal. I agreed and went ahead.
I recognize that envelope as being from Canada Post  Yikes.
Figures arrived. Nothing was broken. I guess a Positive is warranted. It's kind of a gray area IMO. It happened to me before too, and same situation. SR. Envelope. Everything (luckily) OK. I left Positive Feedback, but in my comments I mentioned it.
It's definitely not a good trading practice.
I also found this in the Trading Rules:

New & Improved Trading Forum Rules
Here is a new and updated listing of our Trading Forum Rules, Regulations and Suggestions to help you experience a postive experience trading here on HCRealms.
If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to post your questions or contact one of the moderators. We're tweaking things as we go, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know.
1. Golden Rule : Lowest positive feedback sends first.
Nothing personal to the new traders, but you have to earn a reputation and you can do so by trading with more experienced traders.
2. 100 or up to equal Trade Feedback means you may simul-send
Due to trading practices beyond our control we are discouraging simul-send trades, due to the fact that there is usually one person who sends much later than they should. If you decide to simul-send then your itrade rating must be above 100.
It is ultimately up to the traders but once someone has established themselves as a trader simul-sending is what may be asked. Again we are all nervous, but if a person has 100 or more feedback they have earned a reputation
It is very important to keep in contact with simul-send trades as to ensure that the other side does not get antsy.
3. If you agree on a simul-send, don't wait to send your figures.
4. EBAY REFERENCES DO NOT COUNT
They are too easy to fake and difficult to prove. Don't even bother putting down I have 1 billion references at ebay (no one cares because this is not ebay).
5. ALWAYS USE A BOX
The post office is trying to get figures to people as fast as possible and things get broken.
6. Use Delivery Confirmation Number
When you use DC# you protect yourself and make the other person secure. The package can be tracked from the time it is sent out to the time it is received. (this is only an option in the US). Also, DC only costs .75 cents I don't think it is going to break your wallet. USPS gives you a customs form number that can help you track your package overseas. It is not as good as delivery confirmation but still very helpful.
7. When sending across to other countries USE AIR MAIL
It is safe and fast, plus it is cheaper depending on where you go. The UK and Canada are the cheapest places to send to.
8. Don't Trade figures that are not complete or damaged
If you are trading make sure to let the other person know the condition of the figure. If it has a slight smear on the base, heat damage, or missing the character card a person needs to know.
9. DON'T TRADE WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE
If a figure is not in your possession you cannot trade it, even if it is coming to you. Simple.
10. Once You Agree On a Trade, IT IS FINAL
To acknowledge that both parties agree on the figures to be traded, addresses must be exchanged. By both people exchanging addresses the trade is final. It is not time to start asking for someone to add something in to the trade. If someone backs out and has no better reason than "I got a better deal" that person should get neutral feedback. Also, do not decide to send through a third party after the trade is made.
11. If you don't Feel Comfortable with a trade DON'T DO IT!!!
Plain and simple guys and gals, if you don't feel comfortable with a trade just don't do it.
12. All threads must contain heroclix to trade
You may add other things you have or want but you must have heroclix listed as a priority.
13. Please post ONLY ONE trade thread
It is easiest on everyone if you just update your threads and bump them every few days or when you make a significant update to your inventory. If you contact a moderator, we can change the current title of your thread for you, if you'd like.
Multiple trade threads gum up the trade forum and this is an equal opportunity forum. If you wish to open a new thread please close your other thread.
14. You cannot trade, buy, or sell weapons of any sort here. Anyone caught trying to make any type of exchange involving a weapon will be immediately banned from the Neutral Ground indefinitely.
15. No auction trade threads.
No one can open trade threads that allows people to bid on the item in order to win a trade for it. This is a trade thread.
Keep in mind that the Mods; Kitsushel, Quebbster, and Phantalien do have jobs and have families just like yourself so please understand if we do not get back to you as soon as possible. However we will try our best to help you and solve your problems and answer your questions in a timely manner.
16. LEAVE FEEDBACK!
Leave appropriate feedback.
* Positive Feedback: Both Parties got their trades in the mail.
* Neutral Feedback: Both Parties agreed on a trade/sale it did not follow through but both parties did not lose anything. (A deal has been met with both addresses exchanged.) OR A trade that was finally completed after the involvement of a moderator.
* Negative Feedback: One party sent their end of the trade, or money for a sale thread but the other party received nothing in return (Being scammed) OR One party does not receive all of the parts agreed in a trade. This includes broken figures not willing to be fixed, missing character cards, or missing figures that were agreed upon.
itrade messages: You are allowed 80 characters to leave feedback for everyone to see. You also have infinite characters to write a message for both traders and mods to see. It is important, but not mandatory to mention these things in itrade messages so we know how to best deal and approach the trader;
* Communication: Did you both keep in contact with each other?
* Ability to ship the package quickly: Was the package shipped in a timely manner?
* Using Delivery Confirmation: Did the person use delivery confirmation? (Very important to mention!)
* Packing: Were the heroclix packed well to prevent damage?
There weren't damaged, but they sure weren't packaged well to prevent it, only sheer luck did that.
Were they in the envelope loose? Or were they protected by cardboard? I've used Envelopes because the post office here will not DC any box if it's too small to fit everything on the front. I simply put the box in an envelope, usually a clix box cut down. If they had been broken would your money have been reimbursed?
Was there any markings of fragile? If not simply test the envelope. Get some old commons or rookies, Indy or Icons are great, and put them inside. Now drop a box on top filled with something, a book perhaps.
Did the clix break?

holy...lol
talk about crazy luck with nothing being broken. you've had a run of bad trades recently man. well this isn't 'bad' per say, but still you know what I mean.
I would definatly want some kind of rule stating that unless you're sending cards or event dials that all clix should be mailed in a freakin' box lol

5. ALWAYS USE A BOX

See, that's in Shell's trading rules, but not in Phant's selling rules. Like I said I PM'd him and I'm sure it'll be rectified in no time.
Jarosa: Most of the answers to your questions are actually in my OP, with pictures even.
No fragile markings.
They were technically in a box shaped item inside the envelope, but it was just a VERY flimsy piece of card taped in to a box shape. I folded a piece of regular paper 3 times and the tensile strength was comparable...
I don't need to put clix in a thinly padded envelope and drop a weight on them to know it was a miracle they didn't get broken; I've worked a Mail Depot before and saw what they do to mail.
As for if I would have gotten a refund? I'd need to be psychic or have access to an alternate reality to really know.
PS - For some reason the $25-$35 worth of clix I paid for had a value of $60 on the customs form. Any ideas why?

My common sense is tingling  Like they say though 'Common sense isn't common'
The only reason I could see them marking the value as being higher, was in case something happened, and they had to make a claim with Canada Post? Since it would have been insured for up to $100.00, they could show CP their copy, with the insured value of $60.00, and make a claim for that amount. At least, that's my thought on it. Otherwise, I've got nothing.................buy hey, what were the chances of anything happening to it, when it was packed and sent with such great care..........:tired:
Leave neutral and explain why. That way hopefullt he doesn't do it again since there's written proof he has before. Before someone trades with him they'll maybe see your neutral and explain they don't want the same treatment. It's not negative but neutral would have someone look.
