View Full Version : WoS how much is a full set 1-64 worth?
The issue has come up that due to poor collation etc that some secondary market sellers are having to refund money to customers due to not being able to make full sets. People have been paying $350 or more for a full set on the secondary market.
What do you think a full set of WOS is really worth?
In the past a full set at time of release was worth approximately $250.
Sure that doesn't include chase figures but this set didn't have chase figures right?
At some point enough is enough and I am left wondering how much money I am willing to pay per release for a complete set...
Personally I think the amount of cases or god forbid boosters you would need to buy to get a full set prices most people right out of the game.
Like D&D minis $400+ for a full set on the secondary market is just way
too much money.
Weel I bought 2 cases cost 400 a retailer would get it probibly for 250. avarge 7 sr's per case 14 total. needed 2 more to complete my set got lucky no dups out of the cases. Sooo I think with this 16 sr set you will find a cur set for still 50-60 marker. Although now you need appx 3 cases to complete a set where as before you only needed 2 for the c,u,r,sr set. This makes me think you will see this set runing at least 375-400+ for a while.
Although I have been wrong before.

Yea I agree with above for sure. Probably that way for a good while IMO.
Definitely a set I'd say buy a case and trade to get the set.
It took me 4 cases to get a full set because of the 16 SRs. Granted I have dupes of the SRs, but after opening 3 cases, I still needed 2 SRs. Thank God I got the last 2 in the 4th case
I think the retailers get 40-45% off retail from the distributor. So it will be at least $265-$290 for them to get a complete set. $400 for a complete set is not unreasonable because of the extra SRs.
I highly doubt there is a 40% profit margin on heroclix. That sounds a litle high.
If I can get a case online for $139 shipped I'd bet they pay approx 99-120 per case. The profit isn't high but the key is volume. All they do is take delivery from the distributor and deliver to customers. They don't even need storage space, they come in and they go out.
Is there anyone out there with a diamond or alliance account?
How much to retailers pay per case?
I believe diamond/alliance charges retailers approx 140 per case.
Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Where did you see this was selling for $139 /case shipped?

Sounds like an (un)Popular Collections deal if it's real.
I ordered from Popular Collections and the pre order price was 139.99 per case shipped (they refund the shipping costs after you place the order)
You won't get it the date of release but my WoS cases are arriving Monday via UPS.
They always run pre order sales prior to release.
I think this is the same price retailers buy cases from alliance based on what friends who have stores have told me.

You can see that by the amount of boosters needed to complete this 1-64 set, that the set price should be higher than all the other more recent sets.
If it takes on average 4 cases to complete a 1-64 set, I don't think 350 to 400 dollars is unreasonable for the set at all.
Basically, it comes down to what it's worth to you. The Watchmen set was worth 100 dollars to some people, so they bought it. It was worth 50 dollars to other people, so they didn't buy it.
I know if I was selling a 1-64 Web of Spider-Man set right now, I would have a 400 dollar price tag on it! At least!
