I want to hear from everyone who will be serious and beneficent about this. In other words, if you're going to say something mean, shut your trap. Here goes.
I want to draw comics. I want to have a distinct style. I don't know which style is mine. Which type of style I want to use. I WANT to do Funny Animals (aka, Furies), but I'm not sure people will accept this style for all the types of stories I want to do. I'm already good at the cartoony drawing style-- kind of like Groo, but I'm not sure people will take me seriously if I draw in that style. I want to draw serious comics. I mean... well I WANT to draw in the funny animal style. But will people ACCEPT that style for serious cartoons? Usagi Yojimbo OBVIOUSLY worked. It's still around after nineteen years. But what about superheroes? I don't think THAT would work. I don't know! I don't know what to DO! Manga style? Furies? American? Cartoony? What will work best for ANY kind of story I want to draw? What kind of style will cover EVERYTHING? I want to draw furries, but I don't think It will work for my superhero stories! AGGH! :( :(

If you listen other people's opinions you'll never have your own style.

Well... I should really go ahead and just do Furries?.... That's what I want to do.... Could it work?.... I think I'm going to go try designing my superhero in Funny animal style. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Chances are, I'll be back whining and asking for advice. Just have patience with me, please!

Hmmm... I'm a wanna-be myself, and I gotta say do what you like, in your case furries. Forcing yourself to draw something else to be "successful" won't do anything to develop your own style. It's ok to be influenced by other artists but develop your own style doing what you like to draw. And as for being successful, it's all on you. The harder you try, the more likely you are to succeed.
But, seriously, draw however and whatever you want to draw.
