View Full Version : LOSH team still possible?
Hi everyone I just bought the Legion starter set for the sake of it and cause i am a very big fan of the Legion.
I am going to pick up Karate Kid, Mon El and the others to fill out the ranks as well.
I was just wondering if anyone could help me come up with any decent teams for Golden Age please.
Thank you!

If you have the chance and can get a deal, try and get the Crisis SR Supergirl because she's got the Keyword, but also has a Team Ability that the rest of the team can borrow (Superman TA).
Basically, it depends on how many points the game is going to be, but a Legion team can generally compete. If you print out a copy of Contingency Plan and stick that on the Starter Cosmic Boy, that will go a long way to helping the rest of the team. Or if you go by the "Future/Teen" keywords, you can add Batman (Beyond) from Arkham Asylum to give your whole team Stealth to share.
Any more details you can share about the game you're planning to play? I like the Legion a lot, and I'm hoping we'll see at least a few in the next set (DC75th).
Wow!!!! Jackstar seriously Batman Beyond yessssssssssssss! Bats Beyond and Dream Girl and Crisis SR Supergirl will be must haves for this team.
I haven't played a golden age event before but my LCS players are pretty cool so i think it will be 400 or 500 points casual. I think it will be more fun to play the LOSH in Golden but i might try modern as well when i get more of the figures.
Defintely hope there as some more in DC 75 as well!!
Thanks for the help!

If you can get a hold of that Karate Kid, go for it. He is a really fun piece to play. And Dawnstar from the same set is definitely a mainstay on my Legion teams.
Since you got the Starter, you already have a few of my favorite figures of all time.
-Lightning Lad is a very dangerous piece in the right hands. Dual target, Running Shot, Energy Explosion, and a 10 Range is screaming for Armor Piercing to be added to him.
- Cosmic Boy is also amazing of the points. Like was said, slap Contingency Plan on him. His Willpower and TK gets your team into position quickly.
-Ultra Boy is one of my favorite comic characters of all time. So him being in clix form is gravy as is. But his dial is a lot of fun to play too. His Speed slot always has a power, and 3 clix of Impervious on defense works wonders.
Glad to have yet another Legion player out there!!

The Legion is the main reason I began playing Heroclix, and they were the first theme team I collected before looking at other figures and themes.
The Legion starter comes with some great figures and a great 2-sided map. Cosmic Boy is easily my favorite piece in the starter.
I'm not going to go into detail what others before me have discussed, but Dawnstar, Dream Girl, and Karate Kid are must-have Legionnaires. I like Bouncing Boy from Justice League, but that's because he's surprisingly effective for a 2nd attacker, especially if you can pull off his "Ricochet" SP.
In DC Origins, you'll notice they use all three different names for the REV of Mon-El: Mon-El, Valor, and M'Onel, respectively. Please note that the E Valor does NOT have the LOSH keyword, though he is the only other L.E.G.I.O.N. member in the game besided Justice League's SR Lobo. Also in the set, the Veteran Supergirl is the Legion member from the Threeboot Legion, and she's great though costly. Lastly, the Triplicate Girl is also in the set, and the LE is called Duo Damsel. I've fielded the E version with limited success.
Colossal Boy appears in the Giants set, along with Fatal Five member Validus. I like the set in general, because the other Giants fit well on their respective teams. On the other hand, Colossal Boy's kind of fragile and the costume is Threeboot version.
From Collateral Damage, I'd have to say the E or V version of Umbra/Shadow Lass is a FANTASTIC piece for support, since she can: a) Act as a stealth shield for your HSS pieces like Mon-El, Supergirl, or Ultra Boy, b) Support characters like lower DV's (i.e. rookie Mon-El) with her opening 17 Defend, and c) actually deal damage with an opening 3 damage!
Every Legionnaire made prior to Collateral Damage can drop in stats fairly quickly (like most figures early on), but the Veteran Brainiac 5 (re-boot costume w/ Koko) is the ONLY Legionnaire with Outwit at the beginning of the dial, but positioning him just right will enable Brainy to help out the battle with his outwit.
Here's how I rank the Legion powerhouse characters:
1. Young Superman (Legion Starter)
2. Mon-El/ M'Onel (DC Origins)
3. Vet Supergirl (DC Origins)
4. SR Supergirl (Crisis)
5. Ultra Boy (Legion Starter)
^Honestly, what hold Ultra Boy back is the Battle Fury and the lack of comic accuracy. It should be one power at a time, right?
-Dawnstar's tracking SP makes her a must-play. Every time.
-I always choose Karate Kid over Timber Wolf any day of the week. 3 more points, but Val is WAY better, IMO.
-As for copying TA's, Crisis Supergirl is an obvious choice for Superman Ally. As for Batman Ally, I don't think Batman Beyond is necessary with "Print & Play" - you can printout the Alfred Pennyworth pog and bring the butler to the 31st century (to clean the Legion headquarters, of course!).
-Saturn Girl's SP can help out a lot to improve an ally's AV by +2 for a turn. She also has outwit at the end of her dial.
-Phantom Girl's "Disruption" SP is a great power to have when you want to rid your opponent of an object one of their character's may be carrying. Opening 18 DV doesn't hurt either for only 40 points.
-Shrinking Violet is a non-flying Legionnaire, so she can be carried, making an excellent stealth-shield in the process. Also be aware of her mid-dial Close Combat Expert.
The only negative I have for the Legion is Arkham Asylum Element Lad. I can't justify ever playing him, as he makes for a very niche character. Legacy Wildfire REV isn't bad, though I've never fielded the character well.
If you ever feel like teaming them up with 31st century villains, check out the Legacy Persuader (R or E versions), Justice League Time Trapper, or Arkham Asylum's Legion of Super-Villains trio (Cosmic King, Lightining Lord, and Saturn Queen).
As for DC 75th, just give me Thom Kallor (Starman), so I can put him on a "Legion couples" team with Dream Girl.
Yo Contigency Plan! Thanks for the advice! Dawnstar looks amazing with +1 bonus and HSS on the dail! Lighting Lad and Young Superman are my favourite characters so far after messing around with them at home but when i play at the weekend i'm going to do like you and Jackstar say and try Cosmic Boy out with the plan and try and overwhelm my opponents quickly!
Thank you!
Yo PlotDeviceLad! Can I ask what the best Mon El is in your opinion the rookie or the MOnel one? Bouncing Boy looks amazing as well as fun to mess with i'm defintely going to get him and try him out! I looked at the duo Damsel figure but mistakenly thought it would be a double figure and i was looking at the wrong piece so i will defintely have another look at her!
Would Colossal Boy be a must have though if there is a way to protect him like an armor or nano bots feat or something to keep him alive a little longer? or do you think it would be a waste of points?
Braniac is one my favourite characters and Shadow Lass too, I think Shadow Lass and Dawnstar are defintely going to be the main two peices i am going to get asap for my style of playing or i will get slaughtered.
Hopefully Ultra Boy and Braniac get new clix in DC 75 that are abit more comic accurate but it is still cool there are at least clix of them which seem useable I agree about Element Lad because I don't know how i would use him really.
Can I ask what you guys think of the Emerald Empress clix and also how do you guys use Saturn Girl in an effective way?
I will try and rep you all thanks for the great help!

Actually, the best Mon-el piece is Valor, the blue-ringed one. He's not too expensive and packs a really good punch. Check him out in the Units section and see if he fits for you.
Most of this has been said by others, but here are my thoughts:
Young Superman is one of the most efficient damage dealers in clix history IMO.Excellent alpha strike capability with the 6 space charge and paired with cosmic boy/contingency plan. 'Not so Special' works very well on him.
Karate Kid is also exceptionally efficient.
Cosmic Boy is an incredible TK piece (wildcard and willpower let him excel at the role) Contingency plan is an automatic for me when I run cos.
Phantom Girl and Shrinking violet are nice cheap tie-up. Phantom Girls power is more useful these days with the new lantern objects and other things people are using.
Triplicate Girl or Chameleon with the Drag feat is a lot of fun (breaking away on a 2-6 to drag the enemy to superman/karate kid.)
Dawnstar is wonderful for the +1 attack for the entire team against 1 enemy.
I LOVE pairing them with other teens. Klarion for mystics+perplex rocks, as does Batgirl who's 11 attack flurry is even better with cosmic boy to get her in the fight.
I'll add a weakness: Unless you are lucky enough to have one of the old Brainiac 5's, they are missing outwit and a solid perplex piece. (I'm not a fan of either Saturn Girl or Colossal Boy.) Dreamgirl is sort of expensive for a 1 trick pony probability control but theme team rolls can usually make up for this.

Yo PlotDeviceLad! Can I ask what the best Mon El is in your opinion the rookie or the MOnel one?
IMO, I choose the rookie version, because it's more economical in comparison. Then again, I don't prefer to play 200+ point pieces most of the timem and also have never fielded the Veteran M'Onel. I might have to do just that once Web of Spider-man dies down. The Experienced Valor version is also the best of the REV, but does NOT carry the LOSH keyword. He does have the "teen" keyword, so you can go to town with that and bring some other teens into the 31st century via time bubble, similarly to what perryj suggests w/Crisis's Klarion & Batgirl figures. The Crisis Supergirl does not have the "teen" keyword, Origins E Supergirl does, so there's an option for Superman Ally on "teen" themes to route your Gotham City themed opponents. If you feel that your best offense is a good defense, might I suggest a JSA/Defenders "teen" to throw on a teen theme, such as Legacy Vet Stargirl - @ 63 points, she provides a JSA TA to wildcard to as well as long-range support. As for Defenders, the best teen for the points is Avengers Bucky - @ 30 points, you get Defenders TA to wildcard to, a stealth shield a Legionnaire can carry around, and he's built for close AND ranged combat on that first click. I like to imagine the Legion went back to WWII and rescued Bucky right before the plane explodes. You may ask, "How can the Legion crossover into a Marvel universe?" And my reply would be that the Time Trapper had created a "pocket" universe where similar events to the Marvel U. took place up until that moment, which is similar to how they explain Superboy existing in the Legion post-Crisis on Infinite Earths. ;)
Would Colossal Boy be a must have though if there is a way to protect him like an armor or nano bots feat or something to keep him alive a little longer? or do you think it would be a waste of points? Absolute waste, unless you're a huge Colossal Boy fan (no pun intended), then go for it. He's a big target for your opponent.
Can I ask what you guys think of the Emerald Empress clix and also how do you guys use Saturn Girl in an effective way?To use Imra (Saturn Girl) effectively, push her off that first click so she can actually use Mind Control while her DV actually increases at range, and her AV goes from a 9 to a 10. Push her again for the "Telepathic Coordination" SP so she can boost a friendly AV by TWO for the targeted character's action that round. She's definitely made to be played as a back-up support piece with Mind Control/Incapacitate.
Emerald Empress is the second-best Fatal Five member behind Persuader. Her REV is awesome. I still want to track down a rookie version and use it on a "Fatal Five" theme team. I can't say the same about the other 3 FF members: Validus, Mano, & Tharok. The rookie Mano is great @ 33 points and an opening 3 damage w/ Exploit Weakness; only problem is he's easy to take down if you send him out to the frontlines early on. As for Tharok & Validus... they're simply just not easy pieces to utilize.

No problem! I love helping out other Legion players.
Cosmic Boy is the reason I have my crutch/Realms nickname. Once I slapped on Contingency Plan, I was hooked. He plays really well with it. Especially since the Legion doesn't really have huge stat numbers on their dials. An extra 3 speed...range...or attack really goes a long way with them. Well worth the 12 points.
Elemental Lad is a delicate piece to play. While there are other, more effective, Legion pieces for the points, I still try to use him. Mainly because the figure does look good. And his power in the right situation is very effective. It just doesn't come up often. I do find myself wanting to stick Armor Piercing on him, just so that 1 damage goes through.
I like sticking the Legion on both Teen and Future themes. The Batman(Beyond) from Arkham works well for Stealth Copying. Same with Robin and Anarky from the same set.
I also like teaming them with the Runaways and the Young Avengers. Nico Minoru and Wiccan especially. Can't wait to team them up with the new Teens in Web of Spidey(X-23, Wolfsbane, and Victor Mancha).
Hey everyone i was just wondering if you had ever fielded an all female LOSH team and done well?
I was thinking Saturn Girl, Origin Supergirl Vet, Dawnstar etc. etc.

I love the Element Lad fig. You know I've used him successfully a few times.
As for LoSH teams? Exp Brainiac 5 with Brilliant Tact. This will go a long way. Dawstar, as mentioned, will help with the AVs. If you have the points, usually 1,000+, I would suggest ICWO and placing either of the Oracles on the card while making all your figs Agents.
Not sure what the new cost of the Legionnaires ATA is now, but being able to clear all your figs after Supergirl is taken down is huge.

Hey everyone i was just wondering if you had ever fielded an all female LOSH team and done well?
I was thinking Saturn Girl, Origin Supergirl Vet, Dawnstar etc. etc.
The idea's crossed my mind before, and I dubbed it "Lades of the Legion." I never tried it out, but I'm behind it 100%, b/c I recall that this team could be successful in theory.
Who fits in this theme-within-a-theme category?
CR Supergirl (or Origins Vet or Unleased Experienced)
CR Dawnstar
JL Dream Girl
Legion Starter Shrinking Violet
Legion Starter Phantom Girl
Legion Starter Saturn Girl (or Cosmic Justice REV)
OR Triplicate Girl REV/ LE Duo Damsel
CD Shadow Lass(Umbra) REV
LG Kid Quantam REV
Here's a Golden Age team I made on-the-fly (with the Heroclix Online team builder):
CR Dawnstar (+ATA & Armor Piercing) = 72
JL Dream Girl (+ATA) = 52
LS Phantom Girl (+ATA) = 42
LS Saturn Girl (+ATA) = 62
OR Vet Supergirl (+ATA) = 234
CD Vet Shadow Lass (+ATA) = 68
OR Vet Triplicate Girl (+ATA) = 67
TOTAL = 597 points
I don't think this was the team I formulated months ago (the ATA had a zero cost then, too), and I'm not sure the ATA is worth the points since you're going to protect your tentpole piece, Vet Origins Supergirl, or else your team would go down quick once Kara falls.
However, using this team, Supergirl's your tank, with Dawnstar making your primary second attacker (w/ the Armor piercing). Triplicate Girl makes up for your perplexer & later 3rd string attacker. Vet Shadow Lass should be kept with the ladies that have lower DV's - Saturn Girl, Dream Girl, Dawnstar (who would HSS in-and-out of the fight). Shadow Lass makes a great backseat attacker with that opening 3 damage. Dream Girl's there for annoyance, between her PC, Super senses, & later outwit. Pushing Saturn Girl off that first click while adjacent to Shadow Lass will give her 17 DV (via defend) with E/S deflection, meaning a 19 DV @ range.
Again, this is not exactly the team I remember formulating months ago, and I can't recall what I had formulated off the top of my head. Play around with it, scale it up/down, take out the ATA's for more feats... point is, make it your own and have fun.
lol the ladies of legion i like , thank you so much with the help Plotdevicelad i'm going to build this team as well and i'll let you know how i get on with it!
