While this mod will be featured in my Dark Reign set, I thought it might be nice to create it's very own thread to get a better idea of what you all think. So, with that out of the way, check out the Age of Apocalypse version of Colossus!!!

Pretty damn great! Might've gone with a lighter paint wash, but that's just picking at nits.
And I only found that one. :grin:
That's nice but he looks rather thin compared to theart of AoA. He would need bigger volumes and rivets on the shoulder-pad too.Now,I don't want to sound harsh.it's a cool game piece.

Well, the dial in the pic is NOT what he's on now. Currently he's on a Rampaging Hulk dial...

I'd have to go through my issues again, but I think he was drawn differently by different artists in the different issues. :laugh:
I think there was one version that was more manga-ish than the others, and looked overly-big (which seems to be what you're referencing). I think the version Algrim created is still pretty accurate to how someone else was drawing him.
Of course, I'm a sucker for AoA, and absolutely love what Algrim has done. I am quite biased in this.

I just checked out your mod site.
First - Nice and congrats. They are ALL very nice. I couldn't even see one that was poorly done. Every single one looked cool (even though I really only know the Xmen)
With that said - keep up the good work, and you should sell some. SOME of us (hint hint me) would buy them!

Nice. AoA is the coolest alternate universe EVER and needs more clicks from it. Thanks for that mod! Gonna do a Shadow Cat next? :>

I looked at your mods page the one thing i would change is i'd use the Infinity Challange UNI Cyclops for the classic X-men team.

Hmmmm. You have a very valid point, but I think I know how to settle this. You sculpt your version of the AoA Colossus and send it me. I'll personally decide which is more comic accurate. Deal?

In reference to what Vestige is pointing out, let me say two things;
1) Scale is always very important to me. Some mods don't get made because of scale issues. It was very crucial to me that a Colossus was used to make this mod, as it will (at the end of the day) be compared to that for scale (In person). He was made using a Danger Room Colossus and he fits that scale perfectly. That was a first and foremost beyond reference pics.
2) The reference pic is much bulkier, but that's most because the internal art is too low-res to put up next to the mod (imo)... and it was the '90's - Everyone was HUGE!

Yes and boobs too.:D Hulk and bricks becoming huge is one of the few things I thought were cool from that era.In AoA:Holocaust,Apocalypse,Colossus were pretty big and even those troopers (the infinites?) were massive with their shoulder-pads.I really liked that.

I've yet to have much of a problem with taking figs off the dial.......a few of the old ones where I was in a rush and didn't care about the dial tore a chunk out of the dial but just a small one.
For stubborn ones you might want to try putting them in the freezer for the glue to become more brittle.
Wow oh wow, if Wizkids realeased an AoA Colossus that looked that nice I'd play him every time I needed a brick. That's such a great sculpt... *drools*

I'll give a little more appropreate comment instead of my earlier great work post. Though not a perfect represntation of the reference material, I think your departure from it is perfectly handled. The ties off the headband aren't long and crazy as drawn, and the armor/pads are not out of propotion either. Much more like what they do ina a movie where a superhero costume is toned down for the masses. you cut back just enough to leave the crazy 90's feel behind and still represent the period. Job well done...now mod a Nove or Flash for me and we'll talk about getting you a webbed up spidey on a lampost. ;O)

Thanks for the props! I have to say I am a sucker for the attention my mods bring and they definitely drive me to make more - so thanks for that!
As for selling mods, it's just simpler for me to hang on to my little labors of love - less complications that way. But if I ever need to sell them to eat, look on these forums!

Maybe not NEXT next (there are two more finished mods I've yet to unveil), but she's in the 'conceptual' stage.
If you keep it up, based on Algrims law, does that mean WK will make AoA? Very nice colossus though.
It's one of the reasons I started this project back up... just to see if it would hold true for something like AoA!

Well, I have one mod who needs basing who I've teased a pic of on another thread, one that needs a slight paint touch-up (cameras can be cruel), and a final one that is about 85% complete. So hopefully by next weekend I can show off all three of them!
