View Full Version : Another question about perplex (again?)

Well, I was playing my last game with some miniatures with the perplex power (in this case Joker and Harley Quinn), and an idea stroke me when I was thinking about how to beat my opponent with the use of this power.

With perplex, I can add 1 to any value of any character within 10 range and with a LOF. This can be used to increase all characteristics, range included.

But, what if I increase the range of a character who has 0 range normally (like, said Mr. Hyde)?
Does in this example MR. Hyde gets the capacity to do a range combat attack (range : 1, he doesn't have battle fury at this time), for 3 clicks of damage, until the end of my turn?

This is just an idea I had, but it could possibly be turned in an interesting strategy when you have more than one perplexer on your side.

Does anyone can tell me if this could be done? ;)

You need to perplex his range to 2 to hit a grounded opponent, otherwise pull that trick if he based with a flyer, but what for?

Its a good thing to remenber though, incase your opnent is stupid and charges his blob to inches or so away from your big gun so he can charge next turn.

Yup, this should be compoletely legal. He has to throw an object to use his SS still, but it's good for that unexpected attack. But it wouldn't work with changre, which requires a close combat action.

Well, it is not very useful with only one perplexer, but with two or more it could be very interesting.

And in my example, a range of 1 for Mr. Hyde could be interesting : if he is adjacent to a soaring character and if my MR. Hyde is holding an item, with this use of perplex I can hit the soaring character (with a range combat attack) without using my item (and losing it in the attack except for the dumpster).
It could be useful to hit a nuisance (like wasp or vulture) that your opponent send to block your Mr. Hyde with the hope to make you waste your precious item.
I prefer when my Mr. Hyde throw (or smash) the item on a more valuable target. :D

While Hyde holds the object, he can't do anything but throw the object or swing with it, I believe.

I don't think so.

I have seem somewhere in this forum that a character with SS and holding an item can make range combat attack.

In the rules : "when a character holding an item declare a close combat attack, he MUST use his item".

and : "The character CAN use too his item for a range combat attack".

There's a difference in the two statement (I'm not sure 'cos I have the french rules :D !).

well, for part of his dial, Hyde has Battle Fury, which would prevent him from making a ranged attack...you would have to throw the object before he got those clicks.

Well, like I said I have the french rules of Heroclix, and I am not sure about one thing (I read the PAC from WK but the doubt is still alive) : a character with charge is or is not subject to knockback?

And what about if this character (with charge) is victim of the force blast power?

Seems silly but I not sure of the meaning of the last sentence in the PAC description of Charge ("This character does not suffer knockback").

Darksraven -

A figure with Charge does not get Knockbacked from a doubles attack roll.
PAC -"This character does not suffer knockback."

A figure with Charge does get pushed back from Force Blast (it uses the same rules as knockback but is not official a knockback effect).
FAQ - "Characters with the Charge super power are not immune to the knockback caused by Force Blast. "

Thank you all for your answers and advices ! :)

I've found the thread concerning range combat attack while holding an item.
