View Full Version : Oh where for art thou Green Goblin...........?
So I've managed to trade (my Chases) for the whole WoS set, except the SR Green Goblin. I've been trying to get him, with no luck so far.
I keep tabs on E-Bay, to get an idea of his relative 'value'. I found a seller that was selling him for $17.00 BIN+ $3.00 shipping to Canada. He had 3 for sale. I was considering buying him (on the CC, oh man would the wife be mad :p), but I hummed and hawed about it, and didn't. So I'd saved the listing, and continued to look around.
Other sellers were listing him for $21.00~$25.00 plus $4.00 (or more) shipping. I thought, OK so that's a good deal then. In the mean time, I'd tried and tried to trade for one here, with no success.
So I went back to 'My E-Bay' fully intending to just buy him, and deal with the wrath of wife later on (perhaps not the wisest idea ever )...........only to see that the seller had upped his price to $20.00+ shipping. My first thought was 'oh, he must have sold 2 of them, and only has 1 left, so supply/demand = higher price.' Nope :tired: The seller still has 3 for sale, and even though they weren't selling at $17.00, he's upped the price to $20.00 WTH ? I don't get it.
Does anyone have any insight as to why (besides pure greed) a seller would do that? I mean IMO, 100% of $17.00 is much better than 0% of $20.00............................

Green Goblin is definitely the oddity from WoSM.
He's not the most valuable figure from the set. In fact, I think he's probably the midpoint in terms of current eBay sales. Yet no one seems willing to trade for him.
In my recent trade thread I had some high-end pieces which I said would require a great deal. I also made it blatantly obvious that Green Goblin was the one figure I wanted most. I got quite a few offers I had to reject, and not one offer including the Goblin. I've also seen very, very few up for trade in other threads.
I finally just bought one here for $20 shipped.
Usually when a figure is that hard to get, its eBay value reflects that. This time it doesn't, and I just don't get it.

Yeah, I've noticed the exact same thing. It leaves me scratching my head

When the guy switched his price, was his still the lowest of BIN? If he's still undercutting everyone else, I can see why he did it. If it makes you feel any better, I'm having the same issue trying to get Groot.

No, he's no longer the lowest, I believe there were/are 2~3 other sellers with them listed for the same price, and a few that are higher $21.00~$25.00

Dang, the day after the set came out I saw a couple Green Goblin listings for like $15. Guess I should've jumped on it. Is he really that hard-to-find, or are the people who get him just hanging onto him?

Yeah, I saw a few here that were selling for $13.00~$14.00 I figured he'd stay at around that price. I think it's 3 things:
1) The AE mechanic means that anyone who wants to play the Norman Osborn figure, needs both the GG SR and Iron Patriot.
2) It's a good representation (at a reasonable point cost) of a popular character/villain who's prominent in the Marvel Universe right now.
3) He needed a remake, and the sculpt (from what I've seen) looks great.
I may have to bite the bullet and just pony up the $20.00

I have a goblin for trade...pulled the extra yesterday

I managed to get a hold of one yesterday too. So I've now completed the WoS set, well I don't actually have any of them yet, but the whole set (minus a few of the LE's and the Web token markers) is on it's way.
I gave up after losing about 20 GG auctions : \. I just conceded and bought one on Troll and Toad...hopefully they'll send it soon. It was the cheapest online I could find: 19.99 with about 3.50 for shipping. Not awful...but not cheap either. EH price of two packs

Couldn't have put it any better myself. Especially the Arch Enemy Mechanic. He gives people another option for Norman Osborn.
Manage to snag a GG and morlun for my red hulk from my friend. Thank god i didn't have to go through all this hassle to get one since i really like the sculpt and he is always a pain for me to play against
