Why does Vet Sandman have spiderman ally team affiliation

Maybe he hangs out with spider-man more these days. :D

Seroiusly, the last time I read a comic with him (Too long ago, maybe 3 to 4 years ago) Was in Avengers book, where Sandaman and Rage were honored and made reserved members of the avengers. Along with Spiderman.
