http://www.newsarama.com/comics/elektra-assassin-for-hire-teaser-100913.html
First I looked at the roster:
Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Elektra, Punisher, Moon Knight.
NICE! I thought, hey, so long as a capable writer is on this I'll read the heck out of it.
Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning!?!?
I fanboy squealed.
This is going to be fun. I'm not terribly familiar with Brad Walker, but I'm pretty dang excited for the title. Two of my absolute favorite characters 3 that I enjoy the heck out of? I'm there.

Ever read the dozen or so Gaunt's Ghost novels?
Really good military sci-fi novels.

Other characters mentioned in the article:
Falcon, Misty Knight and Paladin, all who received teasers as part of this campaign last week.
I am going to have some expectations for this title. I hope DnA deliver as usual.

I'm getting this just because of Misty Knight. I love the woman!!!!!

I've always meant to check out the novels by these guys. I suppose I'll start here since I just finished my latest book.

I'm hoping those three make it into the main title, but it's unclear if they're actually on the roster. I was thinking Paladin or Misty was just a tease, considering the last Heroes for Hire series.
I'd be all about a DnA Heroes For Hire book, mostly as DnA could write pretty much anything, and it would be awesome.
I'd like to see an issue where it's the Punisher Vs Thanos.
Why they've choosen to make Punny a team player, I don't know. He'd almost be better off in the Thunderbolts comic, except he'd be liable to kill his team mates there.

when i read this earlier, i saw moon knight and was initially sorta excited, but not so much for heroes for hire..its never really been my thing, and moon knight hasn't been handled all that well of late...so i figured i'd give it a skip..then i saw DnA and immediately thought 2 things:
1: yep, i'm gonna pick this up, not gonna be able to resist
2: oh crap..this means the cessation of DnA cosmic stuff is even more likely....
i guess that frees up some of my comic book budget.....

I'm very curious to see how this works out. I'll probably end up buying it if it's anywhere as near as good as GotG was, but the $4 price tag makes me hesitant to list it as an automatic buy.
That'll become less a problem if it's just the premiere issue price, though.

Does anyone know the outcome of Gotg title after Thanos Imperative? I had to go back and get the Legion run...When does the HfH start?

The only answer I have is that HfH starts in December according to the article.

I like Abnett and Lanning on the cosmic stuff, and am certainly excited about them getting to write a book with some characters that I've historically followed but whose direction has been somewhat less to my liking lately. But, part of me wishes they'd have given this to Jeff Parker instead - I really enjoy what he's been doing with Atlas and Thunderbolts, and street-level heroes strike me as a little bit more in his wheelhouse.

Only heard a rumour that Jeph Loeb might take over GOTG.
But that's just a rumour.

A cruel joke, sir. Very cruel. Was checking out the artist's prior work in response to the announcement. I am suitably impressed. So excited that I'm in serious danger of messing myself. Between this announcement and Lohan getting to go back to jail I think i'll log this into the best days ever list.

Cool! I love the Heroes for Hire.
Having Punisher and Ghost Rider on there is odd though.

You can put too much stock in cover images though. The H4H series before the last one had Hulk on the cover of the first issue, but that was just a guest appearance.
I'd put more stock in the teaser images than in the cover to issue one.

I'll check this out.
The Punisher and Ghost Rider thing is explained. It is going to be a kind of "non-team" book. Punisher will be the SHTF last resort phone call kinda dude, kind of like Bullseye was in Dark Avengers.

You mean Thunderbolts?

DnA managed to make Draxx the destroyer and Gamora (the deadliest woman in the universe) into team players (sorta) they can make it work with punisher and ghost rider

Ghost Rider has worked with a couple of teams, the Fantastic Four with Spidey, Hulk and Wolverine, and a really old school run with the Champions of Los Angeles, admitedly not for long.

Those are two different Ghost Riders. The FF one was Dan Ketch.
The GR with the Champion's was John Blaze (who later fried Warren "Angel" Worthington, tho it hasn't been mentioned in a very long time).

At this rate, I'd only be reading ASM from Marvel anyway. But with this....and the fact that I didn't see anybody mention Paladin, Silver Sable or THE SHROUD as part of the team so there's that. And The Shroud written by DnA is the reason why I'll add this to the list.

Starlin would like his credit :)
Starlin would like his credit :)
Last time Starlin resurrected Drax, he made Drax a moron and a buffoon.
This may not be able to live up to my crazy high expectations! BUT - I am confident it will still be great! :)
I've always wondered why Iron Fist needed to work as a hero who gets paid when he's a millionaire. It's like Iron Man charging people after he saves the world.
Anyway, I enjoyed Abnett and Lanning on cosmic stuff, and while I'd rather they stayed there, I'd be willing to check out this series. At four bucks for the first issue though, I might just wait for the trade.

Paladin is in fact mentioned in the teaser stuff. So he'll be involved somewhere.
Frankly, he makes the most sense to be on a team like this, along with Deadpool. Those two literally are 'Heroes for Hire'. I agree with JGonspy about Iron Fist not making sense hiring out his services, but I guess he's always done it that way. Hopefully he's team leader.
It's not really H4H without Luke Cage though. :(

Don't worry that much - Abnett and Lanning have proven they have a great work rate. After all, they wrote Nova, Guardians, and a couple of Realm of Kings minis at the same time last year - they could certainly swing a couple of cosmic books plus Heroes for Hire.

Unless the rumor of Jeph Loeb taking over the cosmic stuff is true.
If that happens, then we'll all get to read the adventures of the some-color-other-then-Silver Surfer.
Way excited for this title. It's good that Falcon is getting some love. Really started to like him on johns run of the Avengers. They said in the article that Punisher will only be used in emergencies as he's not really a team player.

If nothing else, this just means the end of Franken-Castle is thankfully close to ending.
So off the top of your heads, which clix would put together to make up this team?
SI Elektra, Iron Fist, Punisher, AV Moonknight, and FF Vet GR for 373 with left overs for feats? Or would you use other figs from other sets? Just curious.
I am totally down with this. DnA together is like peanut butter and jelly. I've never read anything of theirs that I didn't fall in love with. I will be adding this title asap.

Although I've heard that Loeb rumor, didn't I also read somewhere (I want to say I read it in a Comic Shop News) that they're more or less already committed to do the Rocket Raccoon and Groot mini at the end of this year and Cosmic Avengers (whatever that ends up as) sometime in 2011? So that's at least a couple of cosmic projects they'll still be doing, too. Has anyone else heard that, or am I just imagining it?

the groot/rocket mini is definitely being done. cosmic avengers is a big unsubstantiated rumor started after marvel teased the big splash page spread from thanos imperative #3.

Oh? How did you know I wasn't Chameleon the whole time?! Or maybe I'll reserve a spot on M.O.D.O.K.'s 12.

I want to believe that, but one strike against is that all those books tied together as part of a vast cosmic landscape. Working on something in the mainstream Marvel Universe and handling cosmic stories might be tougher to pull off. Still, I would like it to be true, even if it was just one title a month.

There's an interview with DnA about the new book here (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=28435) on CBR.
Sounds really fun! And Shroud is going to be involved. Nice.
