This was going to be my team, I think. I had a couple, but I was leaning to this for the Modern Age constructed part of the tourney...
Martial Artist theme
WOS Nightcrawler
HOT Captain America
SI Gamora
CR Karate Kid
Basically, Nightcrawler scurries around and grabs folks to yoink into range of Gamora, who then guts the brick in question. Cap uses his ranged attacks to try and neutralize folks, and Karate Kid is just a utility fig for healing Nightcrawler, a flight taxi, or simply a backup attacker.
Sadly, my sealed was not so good, so there it is. But I thought I'd post the team anyway.

That's a team I've thought about running just to prove those "Whackos" out there that NightSuperDuperCrawler is the threat everybody should think he is.
If you do get the chance....bust it out...make them cry. :)

Nice team! Martial Artist's are an amazing keyword to build from. Can you or someone else post the results from the tournament? I hope to be able to go next year.

There were several people in the Top 16 playing Martial Artist builds with both Nightcrawler and Cap, but I think yours is the toughest one I've seen. Many of the other builds were using characters like AA Question to provide supporting powers. I like how your team forgoes that and opts just for straight butt-kicking!
Also, there were a lot of people playing Bullseye teams (with the option of T-bolting to Ultimates), so I'd say a lot of people were aware of the threat Nightcrawler posed and planned accordingly.

I like that both teams focus on the killbox as opposed to the inclusion of extra support. Both teams are capable of handling damage reducers and evasion without needing probability control or outwit. The trick seems to rely on careful placement maximizing each potential attack.

They will be posted. The Omahaclix crew just needs to get the teams and write-up put together on a computer.

Well, the other team was going to be HOT Moonstone (repainted to Ms. Marvel), HOT Venom, and WOS Bullseye, all with T-Bolts.
I think it wound up being 295 or so.

Not sure when they'll have the Top 16 posted, but I can give you the Top 2:
First Place (Schadenfreude):
Dr. Strange
HOT Venom
- Thunderbolts
Edward Nigma
Nurse
Second Place (rerollryan):
BatB Superman
J. Jonah Jameson
Peter Parker
Val Cooper
Also, there were A LOT of martial artist teams. Bullseye saw a lot of play. At least 2 teams were Nightcrawler builds. No Skrull Ms. Marvel. I think I remember seeing 1 Kid Zoom, too.

Both of these teams surprise me, but I guess they counter the common Martial Artists teams reasonably well. I plan on playtesting them, but I don't see them as major powerhouse teams (I'm still new so I'd love to hear some strategy/insight as to why these two teams did so well).

The Superman team surprised everyone. The strategy behind it seemed to be to perplex Supes' AV up x2. When he's attacking with an 11, instead of a 9, he is much more formidable. I think the surprise factor was huge, too. When we sat down to play, I only had a vague notion of Supes' dial, so I was second-guessing a lot of my actions.
The theory behind my team is Strange lugs Nigma around so Strange can be given an action every turn. Think Warbound-lite. They outwit/perplex from distant range. Venom is on there to tie down figures like Captain America (who Venom completely shut down in 2 of the games I played) and to lend Thunderbolt-Mystic to Strange. While Venom is tying down my opponent's range combat figures Strange is blasting from 10 away with a 12/13 AV for 4 damage. By the time my opponent finishes Venom (assuming they've even tried), Strange can typically finish off the remaining figures. Nurse is on there to throw in a long-shot heal (obviously) and as MM fodder for Nigma.

Thanks! I'm always interested to see what the competitive meta is rolling. Any member here that would be most likely to post more?
The Supes team is cool. But I'm glad to see Strange beat him out. Also glad to see some T-Bolts coming back.

Someone else took the team sheets for the top sixteen, but he is supposed to be typing them into a word doc.
I'll post them the moment I have them.
