View Full Version : PLEASE Stop Quoting Everything!

Why is it that every post I go into has someone that has decided to quote the entire original post or previous post just to make a simple comment that would have worked without a quote at all or with a single quote of the line in which you are referring.
I read the first post. I assume everyone else did too. Why would I or anyone want/need to read it again?
I'm not saying quotes are unimportant. I am saying they are overused.
Thank you for your time.

who are you talking to or about?:cheeky:

Geeze, why didn't you just say that in the first place??? "Here's my post -- agree with me or don't reply". We'd all have respected that and followed your instructions.

No, really -- we would have.

Shanbo83- Just reffering to the multiple "I'm gonna use quotes cause I think it's a funny response" posts.
maxfortune- D_knight was one of the only people to recognize what I was trying to say and not leave a comment about how "quotes are for quoting" etc. No need to be A d-bag about it.

then why not just ask instead of going all passive aggressive notes on us?

I agree with the OP.
In most situations, I just shorten the quote to add just the pertinent information.

That's a dirty lie and you take it back!

Context is so very important to pretty much all forms of communication.

Let the quoting begin

Because quoting is fun and educational.

Quoting is important to show who we are replying to.

Totally. 10/char

And to show who and what we agree with.

Hooray for quotes!

Actually it is to show with whom or what we agree.
Also it is useful for correcting grammar.;)

I gotta say this is pretty much the response I expected.

Context is so very important to pretty much all forms of communication.

Weeeeeeeeeeee thats a fun quote bus

I agree with the OP. I'm tired of those nerds that are like "We are the knights that say 'Ni!'" and "Luke, I am your father!"

Don't judge me!

But what if I was the envoy at the venue?

Or do you stand outside the law, with your poncho, worn hat drawn down over your gimlet eyes and slight sneer?

Wa uh wa... wa wa wa wa... wawawawa... wawa

You know what you are Budpalmer.. you're a sonova...WA UH WA... WA WA WA WA WA

I fail to see how this contributes to the discussion but, as a firm believer in dadaism in posting, I have to add twice the chair skunk the yellow fish... Marduk believes in you

When you multiquote you've multiquoted all the people they have multiquoted. That's why you use the little box. Protection

Yeah I'm not sure what the original poster expected to get out of his comments.

It's like putting a big giant red button attached to some crazy looking contraption with a sign next to the button saying don't touch. What would most people do in that situation?
