I played my first 300-point constructed tourney today. I had been playing 200-point at one local store regularly, but a second store started running events this month. We had nine players show up and played three rounds of round-robin.
I played:
V She-Hulk
R Firelord
E Black Cat
E Wasp (x2)
E AIM Medic
Cheesefest, you say? A Firelord and dupes?
Every single player that I faced had a Firelord in his team. And my Firelord only survived to the end of the game in one match. I maintain my default position: Firelord is worth his points, and no more. He fills a useful role, that of ranged menace. But he's got a glass jaw and he's a very tempting target.
ROUND ONE
I played Chad, who had Firelord, two V Human Torches, a Scarlet Witch and a Thug (for blocking).
His use of Running Shot made Torch a very effective taxi for Firelord, and I took a whole lot of damage from those models. My She-Hulk was repeatedly pounded, but I kept taxiing back to my medic.
The main problem with his team was the lack of a medic. Without a medic, the damage you take is permanent. With a medic, you can afford to be aggressive.
I eventually took out his whole team without losing a single model, but only barely. I was pushing repeatedly and might have lost Firelord and Black Cat a couple of times if not for double-ones rolled a couple of times by him.

ROUND TWO
Dan had some real tactical knowledge, and was playing Firelord, Hercules, Vulture a Doombot, V Logan and an E Hydra Medic.
We played on the outdoor map and I immediately targeted Logan with She-Hulk. Logan is a menace -- IMHO, even moreso than Firelord. First hit knocked Logan down to just outside of Regen range, and the second hit killed him.
Meanwhile, I wanted to ace his mobility, so I brought down Firelord to take out the Doombot. I knocked him back four squares, straight into the waiting arms of the Medic. Oops.
He made very short work of my Firelord with his own Firelord and Hercules, but then had Herc based with a full-power Wasp and my Black Cat sitting on a rooftop.
He took out the other Wasp with Firelord, and then I moved Shulkie into contact with Firelord once he was pushed; he had been counting the range of her Charge, but forgot that I didn't need to charge when he was pushed.
The remainder of the game had Shulkie taking care of Firelord, then Vulture. Herc would have had trouble hitting Wasp; the sound tactical move was to break from combat and bring Herc over to She-Hulk to keep her occupied while Firelord tried to get back to the medic.
Probability Control took care of Herc's break attempts, and helped Wasp to Incapacitate Herc, keeping him pushed.
My medic healed only one point of damage the whole game: on Black Cat after a push. The medic actually did the final click of damage to Herc.

ROUND THREE
I was exactly one point up at the point in first place, facing Ryan, who I had faced in the final round of the last sealed booster tourney I played in. He's about 16 and is very tactically bright.
His team this time was quite effective for him: a hard-hitting combo of V Annihilus, V Firelord and V Human Torch.
Like Chad, he made very good use of the Running Shot on the first turn, forcing me to retreat Firelord and heal up.
He was counting squares, positive that I could not get anyone in range.
He wasn't counting on the Taxi Chain.
Wasp taxied Firelord. Wasp taxied She-Hulk. Blac Cat moved out of hiding. Then Firelord taxied She-Hulk into range of Annihilus. 6 damage including knockback; Annihilus took four and lost the ability to do any damage to She-Hulk.
I lost Firelord and my Medic, but finished the game with another taxi-chain:

Wasp carried She-Hulk and moved to the spot marked @, dropping She-Hulk off at the spot marked *. The Wasp at W taxied She-Hulk adjacent to the heavy object at &. She-Hulk then picked up the object and charged Firelord; Black Cat's probability control got her the hit, making Firelord close to useless.
Human Torch then killed the adjacent Wasp, but it was all over; Torch was unable to take out any more models once Firelord was down.

So I took first place for the first time in a 300-point constructed tourney of any kind as well as my first win in a Marvel constructed tourney. Oddly, the prizes were from IC, so I took Wilson Fisk.
And then I went on a six-hour-long date. I'm waiting for my karma to run out...
Next week is my first 300-point constructed DC tourney. You can bet that the usual crew of V Nightwing, Bane, Hawman and a V Checkmate Medic will show up. I'm just not sure what to use for the other hundred points...
