View Full Version : Apocalypse...biggest let down, ever...
Is it just me, or did the big 'A' get shat upon when turned into a click figure? Low defense? Average/Half-assed attack? This guy would own the X-men...why does he cost 133 and suck so bad. Why the hell is he flying?! They gave him phasing, he should just keep phasing all the way down and drop the flight base. No one taxis Apocalypse.

apocalypse can fly...
yeah he is pretty weak though AND expensive... superskrull could hand apocalypse a new one for less points.
but at least the didn't give him MC... :D

He isn't so bad a let down for me, because I hate Apocalypse. I'm glad he's a weenie. Still, if he drinks his milk, someday... :D
I guess there were two ways to go with Apocalypse: underpowered mutant weenie or rabid fanboy droolmonger (see: Elektra). I'm happy they erred on the side of 'wimp'. :)
Apocalypse was almost a bad a villian for the X-Men as Stryfe and Mr. Sinister. They 1980's and into the mid-1990's was a time of BAAAADDDD comic book writing. I have no idea what Chris Claremont was smoking when he created Colos...err... Mr. Sinister!!!!

He doesn't look that bad. A 10 attack, and superstrength. What is his damage? If it is a 3, then think about it. If he gets up close w/ an object, he can whack you for 5 points of damage. All the while pushing himself to phase out of harms way. I have a feeling that he was made better then Magneto.

I have to side with the "Apocalypse is a dork" contingent. He has to be one of the goofiest characters around. I always thought he looked like a goth/clown hybrid. Right up there with Strong Guy in the "most uninspired" category. Even when I was a dumb teenager I thought he was stupid (not to offend all you dumb teenagers out there- I'm only aiming to offend the Apocalypse fans:D ).
If I get him, he's getting traded. As for the rest of the set, I'm sooooo psyched!!!!!! Last night, I nearly fell into a puddle of my own drool. I may have gotten past my teenage years, but I'm still as dumb as ever!:D

I think he needs to be tested in the field. When I got my hands on Super-Skrull I was going like "Oh my god, whats this ?!?!?", but after I tested him in a few matches I was totally convinced that Super-Skrull IS useful. Perhaps it'll be the same with Apocalypse. Perhaps not. Fact is, if I get my hands on him I won't trade him away.
As for the rest of the set, concerning dumb and unimaginative characters, Apocalypse fits in perfectly at the side of Iron Man, Colossus (hope he stays dead) and Boom-Boom!
(Not to offend all you dumb Boom-Boom fans out there - I'm only aiming to offend the Iron Man fans :D )

everybody knew Superskrull was a usefull fig when they saw the stats !
RS with flying and a 4 damage value is always good (unless with Iron man's 7 AV !:p ).
Colossus is a great character !!
If you don't like him then ship the ones you pull to me !

Are you guys getting your Apocolypse stats from the little window picture on this sites main page? If so, you really can only see one set of Speed and Attack powers and stats, were not even 100% sure thats his first click. And even if it is, which Im sure it is, couldnt he also change and possibly increase in stats and powers as he goes along his dial, ala Blastaar, Hulk, etc? I say until we see his entire dial, lets not rush to trash the guy, cause we dont truly know for the figure as a whole what were really looking at here.
Ol-pooky-lips blows chunks.... more invulnerable, psychic blast or outwit... something!!! Isn't he immune to mind control?
ug... at least Psylocke's stats aren't bad. I can always mod an new look... but I can mod an new "legal" dial for Pooky...

I posted some where on here about apoc last week and that he was going to be weak I said about the def of 15 and invb for only two clixs.I tryed to brace you guys BUT NO ONE thought I was right but oh well.I still like the fig though

hmm, let's think about this.
if his stats are bad . . . we can't realy tell by the picture, but for 133 or so points, they don't look so bad.
about the fig . . . well, i think this is where things would make most sence. it looks like they were trying to depict the 1980s or early 90s Apocalypse. if so, it's only right that he would be underpowered.
now if he were the Age of Apocalypse character, i think we'd be talkin differently . . .

he may not be the all powerful guy alot of people remember him to be in the comic but usefulness wise. to me he looks like a beefed up vision from that first click. if he get stronger as his dial goes then all the better but that flying phasing thing is a real good transport combo, and on the plus side he'd be a threat to anyone as well as the transport. anyways he may not be the best U out of xplosion but at least try to find some use for him b4 u bash him
Some people might be on target when they have suggested that this represents the mid-late eighties Apoc. If so, it makes sense that he is not a warrior-ueber-killer-beast-monster, because if you look back to Mutant Massacre and those first x-factor's, Apocalypse was not the oh great man that he has become since.

I thought I knew the basics of the Big A, but obviously I was wrong. Can somebody brief me a little on his origin/background? Because I'm not understanding how a time-hopper can ever be that weak, since he could just always show up when he's "Uber A." Know what I mean?

I'm just not a fan of Apocalypse or any of those late 80's to early 90's X-villains. I doubt I'd field him, based on that alone.
I'm not bashing Apocalypse because of his stats. As a matter of fact, I could care less what his stats are.
I am bashing him because he is one of the lamest characters to be created by Claremont. Next to Mr. Sinister, that is. And I usually don't bash any of Claremont's work.
10 Attack and 3 Damage for 3 clicks with plasticity on one of them could be #### useful. He isn't that overpriced, and has some staying power.
