View Full Version : The "Let's say what we LIKE about Xplosion" Thread
I am starting this thread for a couple of reasons:
1: I have some nice things to say about Xplosion
2: I'm already tired of people 1st complaining that its taking too long for xplosion, then when they finally find thing out, they complain...
Here's what I like so far...
1:For the most part, I like all of the sculpts I've seen so far.
2:I like all the additions of Perplex so far. There hasn't been hardly any so far.
3:Lot's of new Bad A ss figures. I'm begining to drool when I see stats for Taskmaster, Sauron, Crimson Dynamo, etc...In fact, I don't really see anyone yet who I roll my eyes at.
4: A ton of X-men...
So far, If you were to have straight team combat, Avengers would take it by sheer numbers, almost doubling the nearest team.(point values) I know people will and do complain about the # of x-men in this set, but none of them really seem to be out of balance w/ the rest of the game, at least not at a first glance. I'm sure the next set will be like this set for a different team...(avengers, defenders, etc...)
so far, this set reminds me alot of CT. I don't really see too many figures that don't really have a use. I also don't see that any of the previously "good" figures that are obsolete now that there is a better character to fill that roll.
One question though...Is there anyone yet who is an alternative to Black Panther for 1st click outwit?
Please feel free to post what you like as well
Mandarin has first click outwit if I recall well...
While, admittedly so, there are figs i do not like fig wise (Psylocke), overall, this set looks stunning... Mandarin's clothes for instance, very well done. I haven't seen Taskmaster, however, his stats are really nicely done.
I wouldn't mind knowing why Mystique didn't have shape change though.
As for the others, we knew there would be a lot of mid card-ers like Gambit, Mystique, Psylocke etc, etc... so the filler points look like they are well handled here.
And the big guns? Yeah, they're big... Stats/points ratio seems very strong. Iron Man, Mandarin, etc etc...
My little problem with HC overall in most sets is... If they are superheroes, Shouldn't they have a superpower at the end of the dial too?

Add me to the "I haven't seen one thing that made my eyes roll yet in XP" list. And the one thing that has me psyched the most (and there are a lot this time!) is the mere inclusion of Taskmaster because I love the 'swiss-army-knife figs' like Doc Strange and I hear Task actually has a good dial.
Hey WizKids, next time - fewer previews and a closer release date! :)

For a close combat fan like myself, this is a great set - three or so really good bruisers (Doc Samson, Abomination, Colossus and at least the Vet Beast), and some charging flyers (at least Sauron; hopefully more). Hopefully the rest of the guys we haven't seen will impress us as well.

the figs look amazing !
I was wondering however: is Angel in this set ?
because I haven't seen/heard of him yet.
then I could make the original X-men !

Keep in mind that even the people that compalined are OWNED by this game. They are here complaining but they are posting, playing and buying. Complaining is the nature of the beast in internet forums. As far as what I like best about X-plosion.....that it will finally be here in a few weeks.

YEAAHHH more Hydra as well Shields.
This set has me incredibly stoked - from the looks of it, Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo and Sauron are going to be beasts. I'll get Iceman just for the scult and Destiny seems like a well-done, seriously useful character. Not to mention the fact that many of my old favorites are included, Storm, Colossus, Abomination. The only thing more I could possibly have wanted woud be Mr. Sinister or Absorbing Man, but those are figures that will get made eventually - no rush.
count me a heavily excited

As a fan of the large army games such as Hydra vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. I think the advantage is clearly Hydra's now. Sure there are those SWAT guys but they don't compare to the stealthy Ninja, nor should they. It just seems Hydra with addition of Viper and Ninja seem to gain an advantage over the S.H.I.E.L.D. folk. I mean one Ninja can be eight spaces out and pick off S.H.I.E.L.D. guys. I suppose that is what Mandroids are for, throwing grunts into hand to hand position.
This being said. I would love to see WK bring out a flier for S.H.I.E.L.D. like guys in a jet pack or maybe even the vaunted jet bikes could make an appearance.
I'm not complaining. I am a huge fan of the non-powered characters, kind of allows for an epic battle like LOTR. I was just noticing a tilt in advantage, especially since I do not have the LE S.H.I.E.L.D. folk.
Man I want me some S.H.I.E.L.D. LEs. Almost got a Clay Quartermane. Just missed 3rd by 150pts. Doh!
Thwipp!
I'm very pleased by what I've seen so far. Sure, there are some disappointments, like Colossus's first click, and the SWAT incapacitate guy. But most of the figures seem good, and there are some great ones like Shadowcat, Sauron, and Taskmaster. And there are a lot of great looking sculpts.
I was really annoyed last year when Hypertime was made available at conventions so early. This time, I'm not at all. I can wait 3 and a half weeks. This is the best possible preview I could have had. I had as much fun yesterday refreshing threads looking for new stats as I would have opening some boosters.

What do I like about this set?
How about
Gambit (I would have made him better but thats the fan boy in me. I mean come on Gambit should be able to take nightwing. I mean he made pretty quick work of him in that Marvel Dc crossover. Sory, that's not what this thread is about.)
Storm
Iceman(see gambit, but his sculpt is sweet)
Psylock
Colosus
Beast (rocks the Mfin house)
Shadow Cat
Phoenix(see beast)
Meltdown (ok she's lame but she's still got the X team ability)
What do I like most? Well, being a fan of the baddies, I like that they all seem so good and useful (Apocalypse, Mandarin...).

Okay! I like Sauron, Deathbird, Beast and Doc Samson! And the fact that they made Taskmaster! Actually, regardless of stats or powers, I think almost everyone has to agree that the roster of characters that they chose was purty durn cool. Whether the powers and stats fit each of characters is exxxxtremely debatable (I'm Mystique! I shapeshift! Except, I don't...really...shapeshift...?!).
That said, I still plan on buying some when the set comes out, and I'm sure I'll be quite happy.
Now, if they'd just make the #$%*&@' Infinity Watch...

I'm really excited about Xplosion! I haven't gotten than hang of powers yet...but I love collecting and playing with these things! This is a fantastic game! The more X-Men, the better! Well, that's because I'm a fangirl who LOVES X-men! :D
I'm very happy about buying the next set! Heck...I still have to indulge in more of the the IC and CT sets as well!

Well I have to say, I am most impressed with the sculpts this time...they really outdid themselves with Sauron...He is by far my favorite sculpt of any fig...when I get a chance I will take some pics and scan them in so you can see just how cool he is...Apocalypse is a huge figure as well...much larger than most figures on their bases and only Sauron covers more area. Almost every figure inthe set has pretty nice paint jobs some are just amazing...I was pretty dissappointed that my mystique I picked up had the worst paint job of any of my figures...
I like that the defeneses haven't been cranked to unhittable states by mid and low end figs. I mean a thug has a chance to hit a 15 or 16 but it is really hard as it should be. I mid ranger has to roll a mid range roll to hit....as it should be, while higher up figs have a better than average chance to hit with a few figures being sure fire hits...U Elektra, V Taskmaster to name a few.
This set is to Perplex what DC was to Outwit. Now we have Perplex for the masses, ushering in a new era in cheap loading up of whirlwinds and dropping him off with Ultron. But at least with this much Perplex you might stand a chance to hit Dr Doom and Thor and make it count for something with mid range characters. Most every figure I have seen hasa drawback to their strengths which is as I think it should be. Lots of toys to play with....more points to pay... very cheap perplex...gotta push to get it.
I can't wait to get a real chance to play these figures in touraments and with my friends...should be fun....there are a lot of characters I have been waiting a while for... Storm, Apocalypse, Sauron, Iceman, Beast, Colossus. I will probably play them even if they aren't the very best for the points, because they are more fun. Can't wait to see what comes out next!

i like the 8 pt medic
i like the 100 pt vet abomination
the 40 pt vet silver samurai (that gives the U electra a run for her points)
all versions of kitty pryde that allow cheap phasing taxi's
20 pt probability control.
the redone firelord (crimson dynamo).
all the people who are whining about iron man...(hehehe)
and most importantly, i like that wizkids is brave enough to release a set like this. i mean, they had to have known that people would be getting upset about the things they're upset about (the hulk unique being 1pt over 200..., ironman's low attack value, the apokolipse fig being pretty small compared to what we were all expecting, ....... i could go on), but they still released it and are gonna stand by it, and keep making more sets. and that says something about the company to me. it says they're a company that plans to be here for a while (and i'm glad, cuz i still need my deadpool clix).

More figures = Fun for me!
I have some issues with some of the figures being under/over powered. But I do not get to make the design decisions, so I will not complain. I like the set as a whole, and definately like some of the uniques especially. Sauron is just pure goodness. Green Goblin is very cool. All that will power in a flying figure is nice. Mostly I like the fact that the x-men do not suck now. I can finally play in a big point game with some classic X-men teams. I am not sure who is left for them to make, but I think we can almost make the X-men blue team, and the X-men gold team.

Green Goblin.
TaskMaster
Sauron
Mandarin
Abomination
Taskmaster, the figure I have wanted since I started playing the game came out, and I am 100% not disappointed. The only other characters I havn't been disappointed in was Dr.Doom and his Doombots. Every other character there has been atleast one thing that seemed off to me.
I'm so glad that I preordered a case with some friends and called dibs on a REV set of Taskmaster back when the pineapple was in question.
The plethora of perplex is also a welcome addition, now they can focus less on the higher numbers and more on the powers. You can definately see an improvment since Jon L. came on board, the newer sets seem to mesh with each other alot better than IC meshes with any of them. I hope a new starter set comes out soon so that IC gets retired and we see less and less of those figures.

I think the sett looks good and I am glad they're here and that's saying a lot because...hold your breath I'm not a big x men fan. X force, X factor yeah X men not my bag. That being said they still managed to put people in that I want. Gotta have Doc Sam and Iron man so it looks good I'm still waiting in hopes of flaming carrot making it into the indy set :D [list=a]

Apocalypse looks goofy, but then again Apocalypse IS goofy. Otherwise I'll be getting most of the set!
133pt usable Apocalypse!!!!!!!
StormMaster

does anyone have a picture of the Unique Shadowcat, it's the only one I haven't seen yet...strange, I haven't even seen it on Ebay yet...its the only fig I have yet to see.
If anyone has a pic that'd be great!
I personally will love this set if for no other reason than Taskmaster. GOTTA GET ME ONE A THEM BAD BOY'S!!!!!!!!!!
