View Full Version : Marvel Expansion #3: Official rumored/Confirmed list
I wouldn't hold my breath on all of those being the correct LEs. I doubt Venom and Absorbing Man will be "low enough" on the list to be LEs.
One of the German guys posted the full list, with their REV placement a couple days ago...I'd look for that (don't have the link) for better clues as to who would get LE treatment (IF they do the lowest numbers on the collection--they haven't always--most notably witht the first DC, Marvel sets)

It's always been figures 01 - 60 that have gotten LE treatment.
As far as which will be Con Exclusives and which ones will be Tournament prizes - that's anyone's guess.
All we know for now are:
Angel - Marquee
Kraven - Marquee
Moloid - December prize
Corsair - December prize
Don't forget the generics always get the LE treatment.

That's not QUITE accurate.
Infinity Challenge did not have LEs for Elektra or Wasp (both within the 1-60 range), but instead did have LEs for Puppet Master and Annihilus (both above the 1-60 range).
Hypertime, meanwhile, only had LEs for figures 32-60 with no LE generics.
This is why I said you can't be 100% sure who will get the LE treatment in a set. It's safe to assume most will come from pieces 1-60, but they could throw a curveball our way with this or any other future set.

If they do stick to the current system of LEs (20 LEs from set numbered "1-60") This means we will finally get a Matt Murdock (daredevil) LE as he's been rumored to be #34-36.

I doubt Absorbing Man will get an LE, he's supposedly the last figure of the regular set.
Yeah, I know, but I thought I'd throw his real name in anyway for those who may only be familiar with him from the Hulk movie ;)

It's Captain Marvel for the Unique. Mar-Vell was his real name, as you pointed out for one of the LEs.
Kraven the Hunter (Sergei Kravenov is LE)
Should be spelt Kravinoff.
Brood Queen (Prof. X as Brood is LE)
Sweet!
Brood Drone (Divebomber is LE)
Who'd've thought the Brood Boys would be represented in HeroClix?! Too cool :)
Magick (Illyana Rasputin is LE)
It's Magik, no "c".
Hepzibah (Hepzibah is LE)
Not Mam'selle Hepzibah for the LE?
I also have notes that Madame Singre is an LE, but since Kree Medic has been dropped, Matt Murdock might show up instead...
Curious as to where you got the info for the LEs from?
And also whether you've got the LE name for Dreadnought?
There was a Kree Medic planned, and they REMOVED it ?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh !!!
We need something with support for the sealed marquee.
Also - more Kree is GOOD.
What did they do, put in Calypso or Marrow - or another Red Daredevil - or Electra (yawn) instead ???
Info please, boneyard...

Stupid Daredevil and Elektra, no offense, but how many times can you re-make the same character over and over again with the same stinking stats!!! Oh, but wait, i'm sorry, i must have forgotten, it's a different pose... but who the h-e-l-l cares, let's have someone, and usually i'd pick Captain America, but I don't care, anyone who has been made but needs better stats!! They still haven't done Daredevil in his original yellow costume or his grey armor costume, so it's still possible they'll continue to make more versions of him, but I can't figure out where they keep coming up with new Elektra ideas, or even WHY...

You know I really hate getting REV of DD (as much as I love him), Spidey, Wolverine, and Elektra.
However, today I got a little insight into WizKids thinking. A younger kid was looking over my shoulder as I was working on my big 32x550 team list making CM updates. Anyway, I digress, I showedd him Boneyards CM List and said it looked cool, but the only characters he ever heard of was DD, Spidey, Hulk, Elektra, and Wolverine.
With all these toys and games and movies kids don't read comics anymore (so sad)

"Critical Mass" looks more like "Massive ####-ola" to me. Yet ANOTHER Daredevil and Elektra? Kree warriors? Calypso? The freakin' Starjammers for Pete's sake?! What the heck were they thinking?!
The only really decent ones seem to be the Uniques (with the exception of a handful of others, like Rhino, Venom, etc.). I can't believe we're getting 4th and 5th stringers that no one gives a rat about (i.e., Hepzibah) while interesting (and very playable) characters such as the Sub-Mariner, Power Man, the Super-Adaptoid and Mister Sinister have yet to see the light of day!
Heck, I'd have taken Paste-Pot Pete over some of what's being offered. I hope DC's next set fares better, lest we get stuck with Streaky the Super-Cat.

Calypso was a character created by Todd McFarlane when he was allowed to create and write his own Spider-Man book. It did so well I can't remember it's name.
As far as I can remember, she was Kraven's lover and sought revenge on Spider-Man for his part in Kraven's death.

Todd McFarlane did not create Calypso. She existed many many many years before he even started working on comic books. I have Spider-man issues from the very early eighties with her helping Kraven beat up Spider-man.

I don't know that anyone has put out Adam Warlock's full dial. We do know he is 61 points. We know he starts with Toughness and Leadership and gets Outwit later in the dial. Beyond that, those who have seen him (Europeans) said his stats were very good for his points. I can't remember specifics, but if you look back far enough in this thread and the "massive cm spoilers from essen" thread, you should find some exact numbers.

Check out the Critical Mass Pics thread in the rumor section and you can put your "official" request in there. Hopefully, somebody with the pics will take pity on ya and send 'em your way, Milo Garret.
In regards to medics, all I can say is good riddance. The game certainly has enough, although I can see how team players would want one for every troop type like Skrulls, Kree, Shi'ar. However, no Moloid or Brood medic, please.
It's too bad we got another SWAT guy in this set instead. He's heavy weapons and all he's got is a flash grenade? I would have preferred a Kree Medic over that.
As for no medics in the Marquee, it sounds to me like it would make for more equal play, and make both heroic moves and mistakes more final.

Well, after having watched the set grow for a while, I'm not too overly impressed. I'll get it, I'm a collector, but these just nothing exciting.. ..two disappointing parts for me are..
1.) No BoEM.. ..I would have settled for the original groups Mastermind or something.. he had a pretty long carreer in the books, and was even in X2.. though if you didn't know him.. you'd never know it.. heh. ..I would have loved to see Phantasia.. ..allowing us to finish up the Toad led brotherhood.. but that's not very likely..
2.) We were promised big guns.. (not talking about the hulk's guns..) ..and from what I've seen.. Ehh. I was hoping for someone to rival the DC's Supermen.. (the one does seven damage!) ..but while I haven't seen many of the stats.. I don't think I've seen a single figure over 200pts.. ..so I kinda doubt Marvel got it..
Ah well.. ..will buy the set, pack it away.. and wait I guess.

Dormammu is reportedly over 200pts.
This is a team game, and all the figures I've seen or read about are very powerful and playable.
Beta Ray Bill(said to be like E Thor),
Terrax(very powerful),
Captain Marvel(sounds impressive),
Silver Surfer (not as tough as I'd have made him, but good)
Ulik(should be a powerful brick, with lots of damage)
Just to name a few. Give it a chance, I think this set will rock. All of these can be made to fit with a 300 point team as the main guy with lots of support.
Superman is too many points to field in less than a 500-600 point game anyway, especially with no range. I can pick several 2-man combos that give you more damage and life than Supes, for less points.

And while anxiously waiting for what looks to be a great line up for critical mass, it seems to me with still so many important characters remaining, and the fact that critical mass has included some figures that may be considered the last you thought you would see in clix(I mean that in a good way! i.e. Hebzibah, Ulik!) You would think they plan on several more releases to be done, especially with Spiderman 2(Maybe get Electro, and Mysterio then, or maybe a unique DR.Octopus! Pure conjecture!) and the Punisher movies coming out next year.

11/03/2003, 09:28
As long as they have big names to do, there is the potential for more sets.
The day all good figures are done, we can start wondering how long and at what frequency new sets can be produced.
Not having done all the main guys yet is a good thing.

Hi!
I think with Indiyclix, DC and Marvel they will not make more than two sets each year for each of them. If you think for marvel about a spidey-related set, an avengers related set, an Ultimates set and maybe an non-homosapiens set (with Atlanteans, Inhuman, Kree, Shiar, Olympians, Asgardians, New Men, Lemurians, Eternals, Externals, Deviants and Denizens of the Dark Dimenion), we will still have two years with new sets (and the sets will still be bought more than half a year after the release).

i think a set like this was a long time coming. i mean there are lesser known figures who are powerful for what seems like a bargain (point wise). Sure i've known abou Ronan along time and only read maybe two comics with him in it, but did you see that starting click? very cool
The act that we're getting Beta Ray bill before namor or wonder man doesn't tick me off in the least. Bill's lesser known, but if you did know his origin, you'd think he real interesting.
And the longer we wait for namor, the better his stats will probably be

Please pardon me if my icon takes over. hrrrph rumph! ENOUGH of the mindless, weak, and completely intollerably pathetic. AND I DONT MEAN THE FIGURES. Instead, I refer to the creators of the nearly as weak minis. If they insisted on doing SPIDER-MONKEY so many times use a little initiative. Hats off to the Symbiote and Mulit-armed. Beyond that WEAK. Hulk, again my approval of Fixit. the rest WEAKNESS. Daredevil? Trade any 3 (mmmmmm) for a Mephisto. The repetition of Elektra. Cute, again monotonous. But the gun was a nice touch. Should have used it in the IC set and saved your customers a little money and agrivation. Here's an idea Stage the figures as in dungeon. Add a click for each level of experience. A folding stat chart is available from retailers or the net. Then your revolting laziness willnot be so painfully obvious if you insist on Spidey and Daredevil, and Hulk, and Elektra, and Wolverine, and GOD IN HEAVEN save us from those SCRUBS you waste at least 12 spots available for lightweight 'supers' Flyweights would be preferable to another flunky-class minion (gasp koff) Ultimatum YAWN WATCHDOGS mega-YAWN. They will come have no doubt. Why do Punishers, Silver Sables, or lowly Guardsmen when we can have 3, yes 3 levels of bait-shop workers, or garbage collectors. And speaking of garbage collectors. Hail Hydra. Top notch International terrorists and baddies are so WEAK that street trash ( thugs, henchman ) are a fair fight. Basically one figur in eight is a piece of hmmmmm SPAM. :devious: as far as the SET goes. In buying two out of five are little more than packing peanuts for the two decent ones in the box. 50% of your purchase is going for figures wich belong sitting on a cracker with a piece of meat. For the WK folks out there CHEESE. Stinky, smelly, wasteful cheese. Oh well I may have to suspend my acquisitions until the Mommy with Stroller figure is released. So basically... cast all you want. I'm out of the retail circle chase. Its cheaper to trade them. Cash is precious, and mine. Traders welcome. Thanks for your patience.

I understand opinion varying greatly when it comes to the characters selected. I, myself, was hoping for a couple other ones to make this set. Funny thing, though, now that I've got over the initial disappointment of lack of Defenders, F4, MOD,and other Avengers, I actually am really looking forward to this set. Some highlights for me are Moon Knight, Beta Ray Bill, Warbird, Absorbing Man, Dreadnought and Moonstone. After perusing the leaked list with the accompanying powers and stats, I have to say I think this will be one of the most playable sets so far, and that's just based off the starting click. Lots of running shot, some charge/super-strength, lots of "magical" powers, really decent low to mid-range support (not the healing power) pieces. I can already picture a team for almost every clix in the set. In another thread, I mentioned this might be my favorite set after Clobberin' Time, and, from everything I've seen, it looks like it will be.
As for uber-powerful figs, I have a feeling that the Absorbing Man will be nothing to laugh at. Although he has the activation click, he'll probably immediately switch on to some nasty powers and stats, be impervious or invincible, and fluctuate between different kinds of powers through his assuredly long dial. If he begins with charge and gets plasticity or phasing with high damage, he could be one of the nastiest ol' fashioned bricks yet!

Actually, I believe the mutant that was manipulating Prof. X's mind was Mesmero, not Mastermind. Mesmero and the boy share the same first name, infact, not to mention the powers used were more that of Mesmero than Mastermind...

I thought Mastermind was Jason Wyngard, not Mesmero. It's been so long I can't really remember. I thought they would have gone with him since he was also pivotal in the emergence of Dark Phoenix. I thought they were going to do a Phoenix story for the next X movie.

Well (not surprisingly) not everyone agreed with my assessment of some of the characters being included in Critical Mass. I speak mainly as someone who's collected comics and played strategy games for longer than some of you on this forum may have been on this planet.
In my opinion (see how I prefaced that this time) I just don't think it's right that characters (some of which seem to have a small but supportive and vocal fan base) that were little more than a footnote in the history of Marvel comics were selected over some of the more well-known (and yes, more interesting) choices that were out there.
Hey, I'm not a big fan of Mister Sinister either, but I'd rather see him explored as a playable Heroclix piece than Corsair, who's basically just another chump with a laser gun. Some would consider El Diablo obscure (and yes, he's in Critical Mass), but his powers should really make him an interesting game piece.

except that the Starjammers predate and have certainly as much significance in the X-Men, if not Marvel, universe as does Mister Sinister.
I've been reading comics and playing strategy games for about 20 yrs, and my collection is about 5000 comics, almost all of them Marvel. I know the history and continuity VERY well, and for someone like me the inclusion of smaller characters (who I often have more attachment to) is a great bonus. I'd rather have Hepzibah and Ulik and Morgan le Fay than Mister Sinister, more than Punisher (who is as much 'a chump with a gun' as Corsair - but without the direct connection to continuity), perhaps even than Ghost Rider. Characters like Punisher and Ghost Rider (and Wolverine) were great in 70s and early 80s comics but are now so over-saturated that they've become boring. The lesser known characters are often more interesting and have more personality.
5 of my absolute fav characters are Dazzler, Longshot, Moon Knight, Shadowcat and Vision. None of them are first string, arguably only Shadowcat and Vision are mainstream - but I'd put all five in a must-have set, over Spider-Man, over Hulk, over Daredevil, etc.
And I have a hunch that there are a lot more people out there who like the obscure characters than you'd think...
(I'm surprised someone who's been reading as long as you claim to wouldn't be more interested in many of these characters from back in the day!)
Cheers!

Truth be told, I would like to see characters like Beppo, Streaky and Krypto in a limited edition format, similar to the Conquest figures for Mage Knight. Say those three, Comet the SuperHorse or whatever that one was called and Proty in a set.
Other possibilities, maybe the Invaders, the Freedom Fighters, the THUNDER Agents, the Justice Machine, even, groups like a weaker rookie version of the original XMen.
Any other ideas?

I like the blister pack idea. Ive been burned by flunkies enough times. HAHAHAHAHAHA You can buy Sentinels and Senestros... Sinestri. It would be a good way to market the truly out there oddballs. Or the eventual recasts of Spidey, Elektra,Hulk, and Wolverine. Save a little room in that tiny box for some characters of more wide spread interest. I have a few mis-fits that I would like to see, but I would not wish them on anyone out of common decency. Imperial Guard, Both Ghost Riders, Blaze (unique with the faceplate), Silver Sable, and both Spider-Women. ooo ooo the Controllers ol' buddies the Blood Brothers. (martians) more inhumans for medusa to play with. Lockjaw. Who else would want these. Definately blister packs. OKAY Howard the Duck... just to blast him indo pillow filler. :devious:
I agree that this would be a good way to go - no not in a cloud of exploding feathers, I mean for figure sales to develop - particularly where groups like THUNDERAgents are concerned. (Hooray !!!)
Or indeed the Super Pets.
I would also think that a treatment like this would be appropriate for groups like The Imperial Guard and The Squadron Supreme.
Somebody who wants these figs (eg, well, me...) is going to want ALL of them - so do a box with 10 or 12 in (so you know which characters you are getting) BUT keep to the varied level REV and Uniques, and make it a mix of levels.
This would also allow for new team abilities, as an appropriate card / PAC could be in the box, detailing team ability and any specials (eg like House Liao in MWDA).
Early X Men, Champions of Los Angeles, Howling Comandoes, THUNDERAgents, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The ABC Warriors, The (original) Legion of Superheroes, sundry Alian races...the list could go on and on...
...and people would buy them, probably more than they would if they were released in random boosters...
LoL
All the Best
Noman
Wildkat, I have 28+ years of comics reading (nearly 4000 in my collection) and over 23 years of strategy games, so I can speak from experience, too. I agree with Kergillian about the lesser names. Add to that the idea of using all the big names now, and the future sets being all Starjammers supporting cast, butlers, old ladies, non-powered spouses and children, and one-shot villians (anyone remember Red 9?), and who is going to shell out the big $$ for that? It is all about marketing. A few big names per set, and this set has a bunch(though some are repeats), and some lesser names to stretch this HC game into the latter part of this decade.

WOW. Did someone say the Starjammers have as much significance as Mr.Sinister? LOL. Didn't he create the Goblin Queen, Cable and Phoenix(Rachel Summers)? Even if he didn't he is still one of the top 10-20 Villians in Marvel. If it weren't for the Cyclops cheese he would do the X-Men all the time. Who the hell even cares about the Jammers? Not I. In fact I only ever like them in OverPower and thats because they were the greatest. I actually dislike every single member.
There whinny Pirates and that defeats the whole purpose of being a pirate.
I care about them, as do several others on this thread. On the other hand, I wouldn't care if they left out Sinister and all his little creations you mentioned, who IMO stink on ice. Good thing HC tries to please us all......;)

Jammers...fine just balance with approprate Shi'ar or some such. Just dont slant the field as in INFINITY. Doom and Minions with no FF. HAH Those were the days. Have all of the factions gotten their proper leaders yet? AV=Cap FF=Richards Bh=Magneto Sk=Super Skrull SH=Fury Sin=Doc Oc ME=Wheres Zemo The refreshing malt flavored sonofanazi. One fig per character Stage them Uniques would still be 'hot'. Unless you count Cyclops. :devious:

um...kind of hard to have Cable or Phoenix if you don't have their *grandfather*. Without Corsair, you have no Cyclops...
I'd say that's significant enough...

Thanks, man =) It's all too easy to dismiss a character just because someone hasn't heard of em. I'd rather go out and read the comics! That's what brings most people to the game, right? the comics!
And I guarantee if people *read* the comics where these 'obscure' characters appear, then they'll most likely be converted to many of them and want to see more of the figs!

I am between a rock and a hard place here. The hard place is the past expansions for Marvel Hero-Clix and their Complete Lack of Defenders Team members. Yes I said it. Prove me wrong PLEASE. Daredevil, Hawkeye, Yellowjacket(Pym) & Moondragon were all members of the Defenders at one time or another. And none of them have Defenders Team. Yes I can and have used the IC (V)Daredevil and (U)Moondragon on a team before but COME ON NOW how can you put out a Team with only four members? Even Spider-man Team has more figs. (3 versions of Spidey(IC Promo,IC(V & U), (V)Sandman, (E) Black Cat, (V)IC Daredevil, LE Clint Barton and other LEs). Still in the Marvel Universe there were almost as many Defenders as Avengers. Why the lack of them? If the team ability is too powerful(likely) make the figs but increase point cost, Don't exclude them... Can you people feel me???
Now the hard place... in Critical Mass there was hope. Moon Knight was a member (although only a few issues) but instead of a Defenders Team he get's Avengers. Angel was more or less a spokesman, the Defenders lived in his home, and his girlfriend Candy Southern was the team Leader. But guess what??! No Defenders team in 4 versions of Archangel. Whats up with that? Now the BIG one Silver Surfer, I haven't seen a write-up on his fig. except that he is a unique. He was a founding member of the Defenders. If anyone has a team claim to this fig. It Must Be A Defender.
Anyone With Me on This Fact???
Where is Namor co-founder, Valkyrie member of all but the first 4 issues?, Clea, Hellcat, Hellstorm, Gargoyle, Devil Slayer, Their leader Nighthawk? Oh where Oh where have my Defenders gone, Oh where Oh Where can they be?
I also would like to complain about the Sinister Syndicate. We get Ultimate Rhino Cool. But the Ultimate one wasn't a member only the original was. Also where is the other founding members of the Syndicate, Speed Demon, Hydro-Man, and the Beetle who was the founder. P.S. where did Boomerang's jet pack disappear to? He should have Flight ya know.
Masters of Evil: where is Egghead, Phoenix(Baron Zemo II), or Baron Zemo himself???
I'm Just a concerned citizen worrying if I'll still be playing this after they butcher the Marvel Universe and my poor defenseless Defenders Team with the power to all share their same Def. of 16 max. Check it out All of them on their first click have a 16 Def.
Just getting things off of my chest and crying about my poor Defenders. :(
Kergillian
11/06/2003, 14:17
Okay, the Defenders never had true memberships, and I never read the 90s Defenders run, save for the first couple of issues, but simply appearing in a Defenders issue shouldn't be enough to validate membership. Moon KNight was never a Defender! Daredevil was never a Defender! Neither was Pym! And just for the record, SS wasn;t a foundsing member as he wasn't in the Marvel Feature issues...the original team consisted of ONLY the Hulk, Dr. Strange and Sub-Mariner
The Defenders comic began with the same team. Silver Surfer showed up in #2, Valkyrie joined in #4.
Other heroes who have a claim to be in the Defenders are: Angel, Iceman, Beast, Nighthawk, Hellcat, Moondragon, Gargoyle, Red Guardian and son of Satan.
And Moondragon is iffy because she was part of the team, but never a true team-mate (as was pointed out on another list). Moondragon, in issues of Avengers, Defenders or even as Madame MacEvil in Iron Man #54, her 1st app, has always been primarily Team Moondragon and puts her own self-interests above and beyoond anyone else.
Sp while it's high time we have some more Defenders, and it's practically criminal that Angel doesn't have the team D due to a decision to Archangel him, let's not line up dozens of characters to be Defenders simply cause they fought alongside them for 2 issues. Otherwise I can list you at least 15-20 other characters to dump a D onto...
Cheers!
-Ben =)
First of all my understanding is that SS has the Defender TA. I to also had many hopes that haven't yet come. Namor of course being the big, but I am still hoping that the really shafted team gets some acknowledgement when he comes out. No it is not the Defeneders but reather the Invaders. They hosted a comic title but yet have no TA and next to no representation.
As for Moon K-Nigit, I was hoping his vet would have Spidey TA. I felt he was versatile character who teamed up well with others. IMHO, he has 0 qualifiers as an FF member, but I think he demonstrated he could fit in nicely when he teamed up with the Thing in a Marvel Team Up (one of my all time favorite comics). But then again who didn't teamp up with the Thing.
Nonetheless, CM has some characters I either dont know of or couldnt care about. Even so this set will have as many characters I am looking forward to as any other expansion I have yet received.
Here is my personal count
----------------------------------
1) Moon K-Nigit
2) Angel
3) Kraven the Hunter
4) Rhino
5) Dreadnought
6) Venom
7) Ulik
8) Absorbing Man
9) Warbird
10) Capt. Marvel
11) Adam Warlock
12) Ronan the Accuser
13) Morgan Le Fey
14) Terrax the Tammer
15) Dred Dormamuu
16) Nova
17) Beta Ray Bill
18) Silver Surfer
19) Kree Warrior
Of Course, they are going to mess several of these up. But still 19 new guys to add to MY personal Hero Universe AWESOME. The pupet master himself doesn't have half that impressive of a collection.
I challange you each to count each of the expansions tell me which is one is best and is it really that much better then CM.
My other expansion counts:
Cosmic Justice = 18
Xplosions = 12
Cloberin Time = 19
PS. I didnt count the charcters that play well, but I had not heard much of until I tried them (ie. Amazo and Eclipso). As with any set I expect some disappointments and some unexpected joys.

Me, I'm looking forward to the new Spidey, Venom, Kraven, Absorbing Man, Beta Ray Bill, Moon Knight, Smart Hulk, Daredevil (love the new pose), Rhino (even if it is ultimates), Terrax, Dormammu, Diablo, Moleman and Warbird. Not all of them may end up super-powerful or even playable characters, but I'm glad to see them in the game.
More obscure characters I say!!

Kergillian,
I'm in total agreement with your assessment of the Punisher and company. Their inflated popularity during the 80's is just one more thing I can chalk up to stuff I never understood about the 80's.
Remember - I'm not against the inclusion of the obscure characters (note my comment on El Diablo). I'd just like to see some obscure characters with some interesting combinations of powers and abilities to experiment with.
I'm looking forward to some of the figures of varying levels of obscurity in this next set (Terrax and Ronan, etc.) - unfortunately, most of the interesting ones will be getting Unique status so I'll probably never get them without shelling out beau coup bucks on Ebay.
There'll probably be a Corsair in every booster with my luck, though

I don't know anyone who started reading comics before 1985 who likes that character. If you started reading at a later date and the character was already there, I'm glad you like him. Everyone I ever talked to thought he was stupid.
Off the top of my head, in no particular order, my top 10 villains:
Dr. Doom
Magneto
Green Goblin
Doctor Octopus
Kang
Ultron
Red Skull
Baron Zemo
Kingpin
Thanos
If I go 11-20, I would count some groups as villains and Mr. Sinister still won't make the cut:
Mandarin
Loki
Enchantress
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
Hellfire Club
The Leader
Galactus
Sentinels/Nimrod/anti-mutant government
Dormammu
The final spot in the top 20 can go to Spidey's extensive long-term rogues gallery: Sandman, Scorpion, Vulture, Electro, Shocker, Jackal (just for the clone business), Hobgoblin. That's enough to push to the Top 26!
If Venom is lucky he can get in there too. But how about Baron Mordo, A.I.M., Hydra, the Skrull, Bullseye, Taskmaster and the Titanium Man? How many more that I didn't think of in the few minutes it took me to write this list?
Foolish villains like Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse will be lucky to crack the Top 50 in my book! I hope we see Omega Flight before Mr. Sinister.

My litmus for "top villiany" for me has always been: Did they ever rate high enough to get their own book?
By that (twisted) logic, the list would look more like:
Doctor Doom
Galactus
Punisher
Venom
Magneto
Deadpool
Carnage
Dracula
Green Goblin (Ok, so it wasn't Norman Osborne, but who cares!)
Juggernaut
Mephisto
Morbius
Sabretooth
Thanos
and
The Hood
OK, so maybe it isn't such a great system!!

Nice list, Boneyard...
The hardest ones are the villains who are also heroes: Punisher, Elektra, Moondragon, White Queen, Namor, Catwoman... oops, wrong company! Anyway, those villains are often very significant plot-wise but they often lack that pure villainy.

I agree with you that interesting power combinations are integral to making a set interesting. But by that rationale a sniper or two would be important to add to the mix.
Frankly, most of the sets have had a good mix overall. CJ was a good example of this. That's what shocked people most about Indy, I think - not only that there were so many similar characters but that it was so out of character for WK to do that...
And I'll happily trade for those Corsairs as I'm sure I won't get one in my case just to spite me! =)

I recomend that no one holds their breath waiting for specific characters. Cant you understand the desperate need for duplication of existing figures and new versions of scrubs for cheap distribution of Team Abilities. Man are you guys selfish or what? We have to continue dedicating at least one quarter of the set to Hydra Janitors, and Skrull bullet catchers, as well as muggers, and oh yes MOLOIDS. However to be fair to the subterrainian clixters out there Mole Man is supposed to arrive. The will have a leader. All 4 or 5 clicks of him. Will they have some power or ability (other than to run quickly) to contribute, or just a henchman base with a new sculpt. I have sufficient stocks of duplicates that I could probably trade for the set, and save a few bucks. Whats the rate 5 SHIELD rookies for a level 3 rookie of someone else. The Indy's had a good concept and distribution. Saurians for a 'generic' filler, and even the poo-poo pieces were recognizable with individual names and everything. Lets hope that this bleeds into the other clix-verses soon.:devious:

Sounds like Dormammu's base might fit the bill. Just white out a few of the opening clicks to make the points add up to a more realistic figure. Unless of course you're a Ghost Rider-lover and figure that he ought to be worth 200+ points!
Would the Dire Wraiths have the Skrull team ability? (They are suposed to be an offshoot race that went in to the dark arts)
Gargantua
11/07/2003, 22:20
Dire Wraiths would make great high-end generics, like Doombots and Mandroids. Giving them the Skrull abililty would be a nice way to make it/them more useful. If I had known about this connection between the two races, I had forgotten it. (The comic trivia that I've forgotten could fill volumes, let alone the stuff I remember.)
And I agree completely with DreadDormammu, if we're going to keep getting generics, at least make them interesting ones.
As for the Moloids, it'd be kind of interesting if they did have Thug bases, only with worse stats to make them even cheaper so that Mole Man could really run a huge swarm of them. Unlimited Mastermind. It'd be an interesting team, as long as he had three damage or 2 with Perplex, so that he could get through any Invulnerable opponents he may have against him. Have him just dealing damage out to the opposition, Masterminding everything he takes to his countless minions. One or two Moloids out tying up the opposition until Mole Man can get to them (He'll probably have short range if at all, and a low movement.)

Well, that would be your plan, certainly, but it might be a bit difficult to carry out when there's a couple dozen Moloids between you and the Mystic. ;)

hey boneyard!
on another realm, i posted a thread about how we need a Comic Book Channel on cable (under "someone call me crazy")
If it ever happened, i'd hire you to host a weekly show telling us all the info you got on new heroclix sets. or even give us tournament results, etc....
Well, i know your out of a job (really sorry about that) so i thought you might be up for it
maybe the channel will get up around 2010. You know after oprah starts reading comics and every woman starts reading them cause of her...
let me know....

Silver Samurai - phase through the Moloids, cut the Mystic up with blades.
Simple.
;)
Modru has Willpower and Outwit, so it won't be that simple for Silvy, with no b/c/f.:p

I've tried fielding a team consisting of V Doom and about 6-8 rookie thugs @ 6 points each (for obvious reasons) The new moloids are even better @6 pts because if i'm not mistaken they have stealth ?? this would be a great thing for doom and a whole mess of moloids. no more will my opponent waste time shooting @ my thugs. he will have to base my moloids or attack doom with a hindering terrain modifier. Doom with a 19 defense :noid: man life is good:p

Big pile o' points to separate from your main attack group. But at 201 he is the attack group.

Did anyone confirm yet that the moloids have the MOD TA?
Just being able to have them have a free move via a rookie Avalanche is sweet. I have also found in those mastermind teams, having enough actions and getting everyone in place can be a tad bit cumbersome.
I agree with Dormammu's point that the bottom of the list should be generics. But the SWAT team was blah. Dire Wraiths are a great idea.
For Marvel I want: Alpha Primates, Atlanteans, Badoon, Beasts from the Pit, Latverian Soldiers (cheaper generics to field with Doom), Savage Land Tribes, Secret Empire Soldiers, Shiar Troops.
For DC I want: Atlanteans, Gordanians, Thanagarian Hawk Troops, White Martians and some bug people from New Genesis to go against the Parademons.
I would also like some generic evil robots, the joe basic type that anybody could have built, borrowed or bought.
Just a small wish list... :)

There is no MOD afflliation for the Moloids. I boosted a pic and enhanced the res and zoomed. the E and V versions any way. the rookie was blocked by beta ray. the experienced is 8 points. :devious:

Has anyone made out the TA on the Silver Surfer base?
He looks like a DEFENDER. Just need a concensus here. :devious:

the kree are shield for the same reason ninja's are hydra cause they have to give the good guy's with an affiliation a affiliation and since nothing new will come out why not more shield ta

my suggestion is wait till cm comes out i think everyone will be happy with the av and dv and range of power's this set ,also think nebula will be as close to firefry potential as any fig since ic she has 3 dmg plus rce and either 8 or 10 range

The Veteran Kree have size 28 boots to fill. Thats a hefty price for incapacitate and a damage of maybe2 but a lot of 1. Coupled with a starting AV of 8 or 9. the Vet agent has 14 points. I just hope that there are some hidden goodies under the dial. Poor Skrulls will have to make it up in higher recruitment and lower quality. BAHAHAHAHA :devious:

The drednauts are sscary. HYDRA INCAP TOUGH and a range of 6 or 8? it appears that the AV is still a single digit. The oval shape says 8 or 9. It looks like Hydra has finally hit puberty. this might be an interesting expansion after all. At least the fodder that is hahahahahahaha:devious:

I checked out the Ultimate Rhino sculpt at Wiz Kids and I hate it. I don't know why they wasted the plastic on this.
I wish they would listen to the fans and make the ORIGINALS before they make the Ultimate versions. I sure there are plenty of Green Goblin fans that would agree with me.
I agree with you Bob 100%. In fact I've been ranting around here for a month or so about that darn Rhino sculpt. I hate the Green Goblin as well but this is worse. With the Goblin being a Unique we have the chance of getting a traditional Goblin sometime in the future. But the Rhino, being REV, covers his traditional, mainstream, original version as well as his Ultimate version. So, in WizKid's view the old-school Rhino has been done... end of story. So they won't waste anymore plastic on giving us a traditional Rhino in the future.

just bought some today
2 boosters for a 200 pt tourney
2 fraggin hulks
used 1 of course Magick and a Moloid
vs Morgan and Venom
Moloid took out venom
Morgan took out hulk
moloid crippled morgan
Morgan took out moloid
Magick pushed to take out morgan destroying herself in the process. Sadly the moloid was a HUGE factor in the battle. Without the pitiful being, the results would have been different. Anyway, a win is a win... even if NO ONE survives. hahahahahaha :devious:
