Disappointing Taskmaster Sculpt

Don't get me wrong, now. Xplosion rocks the house. But how could they not go with this version of the Taskamaster?

That's the Taskmaster I wanted to see. Classic comic costume.

Yeah that wouldve been cool. I also wanted to see Green Goblin as Norman Osborne not the Ultimate Green Goblin (dont get me wrong, the Ultimate GG is cool but I like oldschool GG better).

Not having seen a Taskmaster yet, I am surprised it's not the classic purple and orange with skull mask. Mind you, I've seen posts complaining that it's not the basicaly white suite version either. So what IS he wearing ?

I preffer the Udon resculpt, it looks more practical and seems to fit his personality better. The first time I saw that costume I thought he was the Red Skull's brother or something

Unfortunately it looks like they'll be trying to promote whatever current incarnation of a character they have out.

Case in point, when OverPower came out in 1995, Daredevil was wearing a black & red semi-armored costumed so that was on his 1st set of cards. When he went back to the all red that was on the later cards.

I too, wanted the original cosume, with all the equipment all over (Guns, Bow & Arrows, Shield) but at least he's in the game now.


The same which cannot be said for the Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, the Gargoyle, the Punisher (insert your most missed characters here if they don't match mine)

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Taskmaster is my favorite looking figure in this set. I mean he has the skull face out in the open so you can see it. He has red eyes, 2 shoulder holsters, a bad a$$ blade, and the pose is amazing (striking down with the Katana!). His colors are white, black, and blue, similar to a Shield agent, but the blue is different (has more blackish shadows giving it a dry brushed look). The fig is an absolute beast too. Although Ironman & Mandrin look really nice too.

Well, that's kind of why they have licensed the rights, so they can sell more comics. You can't really blame them.

That being said, I think Ultimate character (from the Ultimate universe, or however you say it) should be labelled as such (Ultimate Green Goblin, Ultimate Spider-man, whatever.) Just to help differentiate. And I say this as a fan of the Ultimates, too.

They have decided to use some people in their newest costumes, but many others have their older costumes aswell. White Queen, All of the Xmen (except for Storm), Crimson Dynamo, and many many others have had older costume designs used. The only people they've really used specifically contemporary designs for have been Blade, Storm, Taskmaster, and the new Ultimate Green Goblin. I'd say that most of the designs they've been using are early 90's versions for the most part.

Just for the record, I am a big fan of the new looks for Blade, Storm, and Taskmaster but I wouldn't want to see all figures coming out in their newest costumes. I dislike the new Xmen costumes other than the ones used in Xtreme Xmen.

I also want to say I found it odd that they'd decide to go with Ultimate figures of people before they are released as the regular characters, but this Goblin looks good and has good stats, so I'm not going to complain, just hope that the normal Green Goblin gets made in one of the next two sets.

My gripe is that one of the big reasons I play is for nostalgia. Not that I don't love the newer comics, but when I heard that Taskmaster was coming, I was jazzed up because I was thinking of the old Taskmaster.

The scuplt is pretty darn good, actually, just not what I envisioned.
