Giant Sized X-men set: save me from being crotchety

I'm not a fan of remakes for pieces that are easy to get, and I loathe giant sized clix unless that's their actual scale (IE Awesome Andy, Bat Sentry), so cheer me up would ya?

1) What existing pricey ($10+) pieces could we hope to collect cheaply from this set as remakes? (Fantomex, Gladiator etc)

2) What Mutants/X-featured characters don't we have yet?

Help me see the potential to add new characters to my collection, rather than despair at yet more versions of Cyclops and Wolverine.

Well, there's always the hope that we could finally get a Caliban, Stryfe, Shiva or Gideon.

And it'd be nice to have a modern era Sauron and Juggernaut. Gladiator and Fantomex would be good choices as well. Maybe even a new Nimrod (although I still like the old one).

Because there are oh so many Modern Age-legal versions of Cyclops and Wolverine... The only legal Cyke is the First Class one and Wolverine it's Zombie Wolverine and one in the horrible Clayton Crain X-Force outfit.

1) I don't know what counts as "pricey", but a Storm on the level of the SR from M&M that is easier to get would be a good thing. I don't know what the various Magneto figures are going for, but he is due for a remake as well. The Savage Land characters also appeared early-ish in the post-Krakoa issues, and figures like Deathbird may also count as "pricey".

X-StatiX: We have only Orphan/Mr. Sensitive and Professor X; the team could use Vivisector, Phat, U-go Girl, Dead Girl, The Anarchist and Doop.

X-Factor (old school): We're missing almost all of the Horsemen of Apocalypse. There are also assorted figures, some of which went on to other things (Rictor? Rusty? Skids?) See also...

Morlocks: Much like "NYX", the original underground mutant population is long forgotten, but there are a few figures (Caliban) that could be made without too many complaints.

X-factor (PAD): Siryn is unmade. I don't read this book, but there may be others.

Marauders: Many are missing, but the most noticeable are Scalphunter, and Riptide. These are from a later era, but we may also be blessed with a "blue jumpsuit" Dazzler and Mr. Sinister remakes.

If the set is going to focus on the early Giant Sized X-Men era, Colleen Wing was IIRC Scott Summers' squeeze at the time; she is due for a true clix figure.

The Students of different eras (New Mutants/Hellions/New X-Men): Most of the original "New Mutants" have been made (to varying degrees of success) but I'm pretty sure that there are many that haven't been made. It's unfortunate, but these characters tend to be forgotten outside their own titles. It's especially unfortunate in terms of a team-building game like clix, because I'm sure most could be turned into interesting dials that play together.

Hellfire Club: The "original" is IIRC not really missing many big names, except Harry Leland. The more recent "Astonishing" version could use Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

And honestly, I like the X-Force Wolverine, but he doesn't really belong on normal X-Men teams, nor does he play like many people feel a Wolverine should. I think some of the remakes may be a bit early though. Is that Gambit on the cover? The MuMo one was pretty solid, if a bit expensive.

A lot. Remakes are going to be a part of this set, like it or not, but there are so many unmade X-characters, to the point that I think there will still be a lot left out when it's all said and done.

Contemporary characters unmade include Pixie, Armor, Dr. Nemesis, Hope Elixir and basically any character from New X-Men/Young X-Men (IE: Surge, Prodigy, Rockslide, Anole, Hellion, Dust and so on).

There's some older members unmade, but kinda unlikely: Maggott, Cecilia Reyes, Stacy-X, Lifeguard & Slipstream, Lady Mastermind, Omega Sentinel, Beak, Nate Grey.

Generation X is WAY overdue: Husk, M, Synch, Skin, Penance.

Classic X-Force still needs Feral, Siryn, Rictor, Caliban and maybe Bedlam to be made. Then there's the X-Statix, where there's too many to name that need to be made.

Contemporary X-Factor needs the aforementioned M, Siryn and Rictor, along with Darwin and Layla Miller.

But then we get into the villains: Vulcan; Stryfe and The MLF; Fat Harry Leland; more Marauders; The Nasty Boys; Cameron Hodge and The Right; Exodus, Voght, Rusty & Skids and plenty other Acolytes; more Horsemen of Apocalypse; The Dark Riders; Rev. Stryker and the Church of Humanity; Phantazia; Masque; the rest of Freedom Force; The Upstarts; The Sisterhood; Belasco; Cyber; Orphan Maker, Leper Queen, Predator X, Romulus, Onslaught...

In terms of new characters, there's all those X-kids are relevant and lots of them have unique powers. There's also plenty of alternate universes. Besides, most of the X-characters are so old and inaccurate that they might as well not have been made. Most of the new mutants are garbage, especially Sunspot.

If you're angry about remakes, you must absolutely HATE DC sets.

Again, not having Wolverine in a Marvel set is like DC not having Batman in a set, so I really don't see why people complain about it, especially since it had been so long since we had seen him before WoS. But if remakes aren't your bag, then there's Nextwave, Exodus, Onslaught, the New X-Men, Marvel Monsters, Vulcan, Stryfe, the Four Horsemen, Hope, etc., that could all potentially be in the set.

So pumped to find this news today after a long couple days. I'm a huge X-Fan and can't wait to see who the giants are and how many come in a giant booster.

Being an avid reader of the Utopia Saga - the first time reading X-Men in about 10 years - I can almost guarantee Marvel will be looking to push their mutant line from that forward. They are moving the entire mutant world into the whole of 616 Earth, like they were when Excalibur was conceived, and they really really really want them to be marketable heading into the new movie franchise.

The new adjective-less X-Men title will be - judging by the Terry Dodson Cover for number 7 and the X-Men NYCC Panel:

Elixir is less likely because he was written out of the books after Second Coming for unclear editorial reasons (given how popular he seemed). These would all be new! So that could be awesome for you!

New Mutants could happen - but the book seems to just be finding its legs, so I would be surprised for them to show up as a complete team.

Villains wise? Probably you will see Bastion and Nimrod generic sentinels, which would be really awesome. I also would expect to see William Stryker with some templar generics. Predator X generics would not be surprising either given they seem to be the new Sentinel level threat for X-folks. I need to go back and see who is still alive from the original brotherhood - but at least Toad and Mystique could get remakes.

It will be very unlikely to see Xavier, as he has been rotated out of the books for the time being. Namor looks like they are going to phase him out for a bit (but I could be wrong).

I'm super keen for this set, I can't wait to see a lot of the X-Men done in the new era of Heroclix. Really - I'm so keen to have some great modern X-Villains (and maybe a couple of classic ones remade).

I hope for a lot of certain people to be in this set, but considering it is still roughly 5 months away, I can wait to see. Let me absorb what is looking to be an interesting DC 75th set, and get through the holidays, before I start thinking about a set that may not be out until mid-to late March.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some of the other Age of Apocalypse characters, some Exiles, Generation X, and so on.
There are actually some very cool and untapped characters in the mutants' side of Marvel, some might not be that popular, but that does not make them any less cool or worth being made as clix.

However, I have to chime in that for once I feel that a majority of remakes in this X-Men set would be OK. There are A LOT of X-Men and X-Men related characters who haven't had a decent remake since the inception of this game. Most of the Brotherhood has NEVER had a remake, and we are definitely due for another Magneto and a modern kickbutt Cyclops! With Special Powers Rogue may finally get made correctly, and Multiple Man can actually have the possibility of using his POWER in the game!!!!

Because those of us that want to play contemporary teams (like Uncanny X-Force) require the 90's ninja stripper, not the 80's whatever. In this case, an updated sculpt is more important than a dial, which will probably have a combination of powers from the Armor Wars and Xplosion versions.

Why are there so many calls for a new Psylocke? The Armor Wars one is awesome and pretty accurate. Agreed, she could use a new sculpt, but I just don't get it.

Actually, that's how I'd like to see the Classic packs going ofrward - new sculpts/same dial or vice-versa.

As for this set - I am super-stoked. Do we have any idea when it is supposed to release yet?

I'm not even a huge X-men fan, and just from the preview of Apocalypse, I think it looks amazing. There are so many people that need to get done (Exodus) and so many that need to be re-made (Sabertooth, Cyclops, Selene!)

I know people are grumbling about the Super booster, but let's keep an open mind. If it sucks, they just wont re-do it for the set after and if its cool then great. I for one am looking forward to a new size between Giant and Colossal (if that is what happens).

And for everyone complaining that it's going to be so many re-made pieces, well, what do you think about EVERY DC set. We all need another Batman and Superman...

OMG I'm totally freaking out. I'm one of the hugest X-fans around and this set will make me so freaking happy if done right. Some things I would love to see are:

Jean Grey - Gold Team costume. I know she was made in like the first set, but she's basically looked over for Mandroid armor...

Cyclops - Modern. Make the man the leader he is

Storm - Gold Team uniform, the one that she is well known for. And make it well and more available please.

Emma Frost - Make her diamond form from that translucent plastic, and not with a frozen leper paint job she had before.

Armor - If she has see through red armor, with her inside, that would look so kool.

Young/New X-Men - Pixie, Anole, Rockslide, Dust, Elixir, Surge, Hellion, etc

And there are so many people yet to be made in the X-Universe that these fine people have pointed out. Please make us proud :)

Seriously? I've never had the pleasure of having one, and a lot of the reason is I didn't want to pay that money for the example they have in the figure gallery. It looks just dreadful.

Yeah, its fully translscent except for the clothes that are painted on. Its still one of my favourites from M&M, and really one of my favourites overall. The one in the gallery is the print master I think.

I'm hoping for a new Sunfire that doubles as the AoA version and a 616 Horseman. I can't remember if their powers are any different, or are their any glaring cosmetic differences?

Well, there's always the hope that we could finally get a Caliban, Stryfe, Shiva or Gideon.

And it'd be nice to have a modern era Sauron and Juggernaut. Gladiator and Fantomex would be good choices as well. Maybe even a new Nimrod (although I still like the old one).

There are a TON of major Brotherhood/X-men figs that NEED a remake (some of which weren't good the first time round)
Magneto and Sabertooth - Obvious choices. Haven't had a 616 version of either since INFINITY CHALLENGE!!!
Toad and Blob - Haven't had either since CT and both kinda sucked.
Mystique - Haven't had a 616 since Xplosion. No shapechange on her.
Random - A Brotherhood/X-factor fig that hasn't been made yet.
X-Man - Lots of people have been requesting Nate.
Darwin, M, Rictor - Unmade now all in X-factor.
Layla Miller - Also for X-factor
Vulcan - Unmade
Husk - Hasn't been made. Interesting option for special powers.
Armor - Needed for Astonishing X-men teams
Wolverine - How have we not gotten a Wolvie with his Astonishing/Avengers uniform
Boom Boom/Meltdown - the original sucked and X-force/Nextwave teams need Tabby.
