View Full Version : Giant-Size X-Men: save me from flipping out

A bunch of new X-Men? NEXTWAVE?????!?!?!?!?!
X-men is the first comic I read consistently (I had a subscription when I was a kid!), and the book has had some of the more interesting writers and stories working on it than any other marvel book (sure, there's lots of dumb x-men books out there, but when you're a franchise you're going to have lots of misses).
Someone rain on my parade, because I've never been more excited about a marvel set.

The sculpts will probably stink, the dials will be worthless.
That, and your ugly, too.
Oh... and please do something about that B.O.

A good start! I'm still too excited about the prospect of a beastly cyclops though.

My sister could beat up Cyclops, with BOTH hands tied behind her back, while blind-folded, AND counting to ten with her toes.

that's all I got. Sorry I could not be of more assistance, but I am seriously as excited as you. It was literally painful typing the previous messages

Sorry, but we're just going to get another Cyclops without leadership and/or a 9 starting attack value.
Wolverine will be a decent 120 point piece completely overshadowed by several 80 point martial artists in the set who all are harder to hurt and have better stats for no discernible reason.
Sabretooth will have an activation click fo reasons that cannot be fully comprehended.
Gambit will this time cost 180 points, causing the debate of whether he's powerful enough to warrant a 90 point figure to begin with renewed vigor.
Magneto will be an indomitable and have a full dial of willpower, leadership, telekinesis, and force blast, as well as being a sharpshooter with triple targets and a range value of 2. He will end up costing 320 points, being the most expensive non-duo single base figure.
Mr. Sinister will be remade with regeneration on every click, including his first. He will not share a keyword with any of his minions.
Apocalypse colossal will be 500 points and significantly weaker than the 250 point version from Mutations and Monsters. He will also still not having the Horsemen of the Apocalypse keyword, making it impossible to run him them ever with anyone he actually teams up with in comics but will be able to team up with Mr. Sinister despite them hating each other.
The Madrox buy it by the brick figure will be on a sential sized base but only have one click of life that looks like the following.
#100 U Multiple-Man
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 0 :bolt:
Points: 7
Keywords: X-factor, Detective

Blob and Toad as well as Pyro and Avalanche will be made as duos, with plenty of ranged combat expert, close combat expert, incapacitate, smoke cloud, and energy explosion. You know, all the powers that do nothing for duo figures that they all have for some reason.
Mystique will be made and have a special power that grants her shape change on a roll of 4-6 and somehow be worse than the Chameleon from WoS.
The paint will be applied with a newly developed miniature "paint shotgun" to save on production costs. The death toll will be in the dozens.
The sentinel will be repackaged a 3rd time, this time costing 400 points and being significantly worse than both the 300 point infinity challenge or the 350 point Days of future's past battle pack versions.
Rogue will be made with a special power that hurts her for using enemy powers after she's successfully attacked. She will be thrown in the bin of pieces with horribly designed special powers that hurt them for no reason with Taskmaster, Parasite, Super Adaptoid, Deadman, and Jericho.
Juggernaut will be made at exactly 246 points, preventing him from teaming up with Black Tom Cassady in a 300 point game.
An as of yet unidentified piece in the set will have a range value of 24 and ignore "the map" for line of fire purposes. Debate on whether this figure has ruined the game will light the Realms ablaze.
All of the Next-wave characters with be pathetically weak and inaccurate.
20 figures in the set will be generics, with another 10 being repaints and 4 being variants.
The super rares will all be giant indomitable sharpshooter transporting double base duo figures with a new "Generation X" mechanic that is both wordy and largely ignorable.
Colossus will have a special power called "even fasterer ball special" that once again does virtually nothing but harm his team mates. He will be the first Colossus to cost more than 200 points.
But you know, I'm really looking forward to this set too.

I'm personally excited. There aren't a whole heck of a lot of x-men and the old lady loves the x-men, so this will help me get her into playing more. Yay!

I figured out how Wizkids could ruin this set:
make the majority of figures AoA characters, and have very few actual x-men.
My wallet would be thankful if this was the case.

I figured out how Wizkids could ruin this set:
(spoiler)
What about
Cable's Askani future
or
more Exiles universes pieces
or
weird Captain Britain/Excalibur crud.
Anything other than Universe #616 is crud. I do hope we get a complete NextWave team, if we have to use the existing Monica Rambeau and Machine Man... :disappointed:

Magneto will be 255 point an 7 click dial and his attack stat will never be above 8
I can not wait for this set!!!
oh and there will be a new Nightcrawler he will have the same dial as the WOS one only he will be 40 points and not unique, but he will have the CT sculpt.

I'm sure they will mess up Nextwave and not make them 600 pts so they can take on Fin fang foom
bluedragon90
10/10/2010, 15:40
there will be a X-Men fanboy pog with a 24 movement with charge (called nerd rage) a 15 attack with PB called (I read all the comics) a 28 defence with specal giveing super senses, shape change, and Impervious called (I read this book) and 7 damage with outwit called (I know your weakness,) a 30 range with three bolts and a trait that says his LOF is never blocked called (I am looking at comic now) and he will be 100 pts.

but seriously, you suck.
What does that matter of the set turns out to be AMAZING... which it obviously won't.

Can't help ya invisibo, 'cause I'm already flipping out all the clix-awesomeness coming our way! I love this idea and the X-men are such a wildly popular group of characters its laughable how little we've gotten compared to other sets.
Great potential all around, here. Can't wait for spoilers (although I am hoping they have rethought their design ideas, someone got smacked up side the head for some of these WoS dials and sense has been restored).
Flip, flip, flip!

I'm sorry, i can't. You see, this is the most excited I have been for a set since Origin.
Superman may be my favorite character, but X-Men is my favorite comic of all-time. Claremont's 80's stuff is, IMHO, the best run of comics ever. If this set is based on his run...it will be (to me) the best Heroclix set ever. The possibilities are endless.
I would kill for:
Scrambler
Scalphunter
Malice
Blockbuster
Prism
Riptide
Harry Leland
Psylocke
Sinister
Illyana Rasputin (w/ a Darkchylde LE)
Blob
Avalanche
Toad
Mystique
Crimson Commando
Stonewall
I would die happily.
edit:
Add:
Caliban (Post-Apocalypse Transformation)
And any Horsemen other than Archangel.

Man I saved up for this set. With finally winning my Fantasy Football league and some Chrsitmas money I might spend a good $700 on this set depending how easy it might be to get stuff.

This made my day.
I honestly am looking forward to this set. I think a lot of people will be let down, because the X-men they will offer will be the same old same old we've been getting no super obscure favorites will appear in the rush to remake the core members. I am however excited about what non X-men we will be getting in this set. I don't think it will be pure x-men the same way HoT and WoS were not pure asgardian and Spider-man.
And yes Cyclops will probably have crap for attack still.

How bout these apples:
1) Beast cat, without the Xmen keyword or TA cause he left the team - nuff said
2) you wont be able to get a complete C set and most of the U set in a brick due to Superboosters
3) the BIBTB fig is one that will require multiple copies due to a trait or SP(i bet)
4) Vampire x-men - watch, they'll do it
5) multiple wolverines - i like him too, but really?
6) see #2
does this deflate ya any?
