View Full Version : would you like to see age of apocalypse in new x-men set?
when it comes down to it they honestly don't have that many different fiures to make without it being remakes, so they migh as well dab into some other universes/timelines of the x-men type.
also on a unrelated note, i'm reading age of apocalypse, how come wolverine is missing a hand..... wouldn't it just grow ack minus the adamantium?
I would like to see some Age of Apocalypse as well, even though I haven't read the series, it's one that is on my list to read.
I do remember hearing that Wolverine's healing factor didn't work as well in that story arc I believe, which would explain the hand. Don't know for sure though.

Most of The Acolytes, several Marauders, Savage land Mutates, Mutant Liberation Front, several X-Force characters, Cameron Hodge/Genosian soldiers, X-babies, Jaspers Warp children, Technet, Shiar Imperial Guard, The Reavers, Mutant Force, Warwolves, The Nasty boys, Morlocks, several Brotherhood of evil mutants, Gene Nation, Apocalypse's Hoursemen, half the Hellfire club, Beta Flight, The Brood mutants, Eric the Red, Onslaught, Mesmero, Nanny and Orphan Maker, Sugar Man, etc etc etc.
There are so many 616 X-characters yet to be made they could do X-sets for years without ever doing a single remake or looking to an alternate universe.
I'm assuming we'll get a Hope clix, maybe a new selene, highly doubt that though, maybe a duo piece of wanda and pietro, i'm trying to think of other fun dup pieces since they showed the collosus and wolverine

AoA!!! Yeah! Sabretooth is my top want though.
Truthfully they made DC's Kingdom Come, I can't see why they should do Marvel's AoA, which I personally liked just as much. Heck they even made some of 2099, and House of M, and I didn't think those were anywhere near as good.
And about Weapon-X's (Wolverine's) hand, to my knowledge doesn't have a healing factor strong enough to regrow severed limbs. About the adamantium, well just wait to you reach the last Weapon-X book.

Why are remakes bad? No one's happy with the figs we have of Cyclops or Colossus. There are calls for a standard Wolverine. We haven't had a classic Magneto since the beginning. Blob and Toad are bad, and we may as well get something fun out of Avalanche too. Mister Sinister is awful, and an updated Sabretooth would be welcome, which opens up the Marauders and Morlocks again.

Most characters have different teams they were on as well as different power stunts. A creative design would be making a character at each of these points.
Right now we have X-Force Wolvie.
They can still make:
Alpha Flight Wolvie
Uncanny X-Men Wolvie
Avengers Wolvie
Guest Appearance Wolvie
etc.
Focusing on each skill set would make diverse dials and give players choice on which Wolverine we think is best. Basically like they did with Origin before they scrapped the idea and went with the new model.
As far as Wolvie losing his hand - its a comic-book. By that I mean there are writers who understand continuity and how boundaries develop creativity and there are writers who think "anything goes" and feel everything imaginable is creative.
Its subjective. If you think the latter sucks, stay away from their stories. If you think the former sucks, stay away from theirs.
If I was writing that storyline Wolverine would never have lost his hand. Mangled and fused - maybe. Borderline useless? Maybe. But 100% gone - no. Exactly for your reason. But of course MY Wolverine would never have bone-claws either... :tired:

I don't think anyone is saying not to remake those figures. We're simply requesting that specific versions and characters be made aswell. Not like we haven't gotten dozens of Avengers remakes the past three years. (Iron Man I'm looking at you.)

i feel like this set is gonna be ruined by too many remakes we dont need (Gambit, Emma Frost) and new xmen/young xmen garbage with not enough of the dozens of remakes we desperately need. With that being said i would love som AoA stuff. Holocaust and Sugar Man are at the top of my want list.

Wolvie's hand was reduced to ash by Cyclops while he was trying to free Jean Grey from Sinister's breeding pens. Cyclops's optic beams cauterized to wound so the hand could not grow back, so therefor the hand could not grow back.
As for seeing some AOA clix, hells yeah!!! I want then so bad it hurts!!! AOA is my all-time favorite story. I must see some AOA figures or my life will not be complete!!! Especially Holocaust. Gotta get me a Holocaust... :grin:

We really need some AoA clix to go with Cyclops, Jean, and Dark Beast from M&M. And some of them have made it into other books and even the 616 universe. I think they could get away with maybe 5-10 in the set if they did it right. Plus, "Giant-Size" still might mean a larger roster. I would want,

Gambit
Iceman (gotta have him)
Sabertooth (maybe a duo with Wildchild)

Colossus
There are bunch more that could easily be done but I think those would be best as a small theme in this set.

That was back when Wolverine's healing factor made more sense and you still felt like he could be killed and such. I mean, in "Days of Future Past" he gets vaporized in one blast. These days Marvel seems to think it's better for Wolverine to me immortal and able to be in five places at once.

Back on topic. AoA characters would be great in Giant Size, but only in moderation. Fill the want for the never made characters but don't overwhelm the set with variants of characters already represented.

I just mean that I feel that the plethora of obscure secondary characters is probably gonna push out the obscene amount of remakes we need to get. (Magneto, Blob, Sinister, Rogue, Cyclops, Mojo, Pyro, Avalanche, Juggernaut, Sabretooth.ect.) This set has the makings of greatness, i just fear that its gonna fall short like marvel sets often do. Even Web of Spider-man which was an Amazing set, (excuse the pun) had some glaring omissions.

honestly, i would rather have more 616 new characters or playable remakes than any alternative x-universe
one or two figs i don't mind, and i understand it could please some customers and fans, but i hope most of the set is 616 regular and mainstream characters, some of those we desperately need to be made or accurately remade according to the new rules (most of them have already been quoted in this thread)
i also hope this set will have many x-men villains because there isn't that much good versions of them

Meh. I was big on the idea before but after the last few we got (Cyclops and Jean Grey) I don't really care anymore. They'd mostly be the same characters (or worse) in more "extreme" costumes. There would be a few exceptions to that rule (like Iceman) but for the most part? Meh. At this point I'd rather they limit it to the few figs to kind of fill out what they've already brought to the table (which pretty much just means Weapon X with stump hand and Sunfire) and the "crossover" characters who are the only ones that are really important (X-Man, Holocaust, Sugar Man, new Dark Beast, Sabretooth, new Blink).
