Let's say if you win this year WonderCon Championship tournament, what 7 figures custom sculpt action pack you would choice? Remember it will be only custom sculpt and you can choose what dial it will be place on.

I really wanted to vote Marvel, but with most of the new X-force in the WoS & GSXM coming up, neither X-men pack is a good choice.

Also, Superman: Red Son is more interesting and has more notoriety than Earth X, so it's the clear choice. Authority is really just an extreme version of Justice League...

I chose "other," because even though I'm more of a DC reader, Marvel (or Indy) deserves an action pack over DC, as DC's gotten three action packs/ collectors sets in-a-row (Watchmen, Jonah Hex, Brightest Day), and the classic reprints are essentially "reprints" and not real action packs IMHO.

I'd like to see "Project Superpowers" from Dynamite Entertainment or a Marvel team that's never been clicked (or mostly), like Avengers Academy.

Heck, give me a "Secret Avengers" action pack, and I'd be fine like wine with an Eric O'Grady Ant-Man as well as updates of the other members: Beast, Captain Steve Rogers, Nova, Black Widow, and War Machine or Valkyrie.

gotta go with the Authority....those books made me start reading comics again...and I would like to see how brutal they would be on a clix map...

Apollo-Origin Supergirl veteran dial or Mutant Mayhem Gladiator unique
Midnighter- Crisis Deathstroke or Sinister Wolverine unique
The Doctor- Graviton or Vet FF Dr. Strange dial
Hawksmoor- vet Ultimates Captain America
Swift- BD Hawkgirl or Origins Exp Hawkman
Jenny Sparks- Black Lightning vet CD or Wildfire vet from Legacy
The Engineer- Origin vet Green Lantern

Guardians of the Globe, from Invincible:

Shapesmith
Dupli-Kate
Invincible
Robot
The Immortal
Monster-Girl
Rex Splode

Naah... That wouldn't work. Not enough appropriate dials to put them on. For sheer fun and good looks only (That's what we're talking about here, right? - Since we have to use old dials?), I'd want new Dark Avengers sculpts, done right:

Gigantic Venom figure.
Daken in Wolverine costume with appropriate claws.
Iron Partiot in a more dynamic pose.
Ms. Marvel (Moonstone) in the old red-and-blue costume.
Sentry
Hawkeye (Bullseye) in a shooting pose.
Ares (But what dial would I put this on? Hmmm. AA Wonder Woman and ignore the flight? Hulkbuster and ignore the flight?

Guardians of the Globe, from Invincible:

Shapesmith
Dupli-Kate
Invincible
Robot
The Immortal
Monster-Girl
Rex Splode

Naah... That wouldn't work. Not enough appropriate dials to put them on.

Really? Because the GotG was going to be my selection as well. Here are the character choices and dials I might go with:

Shapesmith - Martian Manhunter, duh (either the cookie monster or the new Brightest Day one)

Monster Girl - Either MM Hulk or Rampaging Hulk

The Immortal - I'm tempted by Vandal Savage, except he doesn't fly. The Kal-L chase would be perfect...if these are only copies of the dials and I don't have to actually have the chase Kal-L to swap figures for, I choose him.

Dupli-Kate - Duo Damsel/Triplicate Girl from Origin (only problem is that you REALLY need duplicates of her to be accurate, and that won't happen in such a small set)

Invincible - Captain Marvel, Jr. (Crisis)

Rex Splode - either the Comedian (Watchmen set) or the new Captain Boomerang

for the 7th character, Shrinking Ray on a Vet Atom (Origin) would be easy, but I'd probably go with something like Bulletproof (though his dial should be similar to Invincible's, so another Captain Marvel, Jr, or maybe Invincible or Omni-Man from the Invincible Pack) or Darkwing (OOTS Batman or even the Spot dial)

Swapping out Dupli-Kate for a character that didn't make it in the 7th slot (above) would probably work too.

I think

Invincible
Shapesmith
Immortal
Rex Splode
Shrinking Ray
Darkwing
Monster Girl

would be a good set, and there are some pretty good dials out there for them.

Yes. I will go into more detail when it get closer. I'm working on a few things right now to make sure this year WonderCon will be the best year. A exclusive custom map, custom dice and a few other things. This on top of Cash prize and annual Trophy.

10/27/2010, 22:34
Really? Because the GotG was going to be my selection as well. Here are the character choices and dials I might go with:

Shapesmith - Martian Manhunter, duh (either the cookie monster or the new Brightest Day one)

Although Shapesmith is clearly modeled after the shape-shifting Martians of the Dc universe, other than being green and changing shape, there are quite a few differences. In fact, of the 10 powers/abilities on the cookie-pile Martian Manhunter, I've only seen Shapesmith use about two of these. He doesn't even fly. No way this dial would be appropriate for him.

Monster Girl - Either MM Hulk or Rampaging Hulk

I agree that Mutant Mayhem Hulk would probably work out best.

The Immortal - I'm tempted by Vandal Savage, except he doesn't fly. The Kal-L chase would be perfect...if these are only copies of the dials and I don't have to actually have the chase Kal-L to swap figures for, I choose him.

Again, too many powers on Kal-L's dial that this character doesn't posess. Steal Energy, Hypersonic Speed, 4 range, Force Blast, and Defense Values that are just too high. I don't think there is really any ideal dial for him, but my first choice would either be Mutant Mayhem Vet. Wonder Man or the new Brightest Day Hawkgirl.

Dupli-Kate - Duo Damsel/Triplicate Girl from Origin (only problem is that you REALLY need duplicates of her to be accurate, and that won't happen in such a small set)

Right. She'd be more fun as at least a duo figure on a single base, but would be more fun as a generic figure that you'd pull a lot of.

Invincible - Captain Marvel, Jr. (Crisis)

I hadn't thought of this choice, but I could see this working. At his current power level, the KC Shazam could also work.

Rex Splode - either the Comedian (Watchmen set) or the new Captain Boomerang

I'd use Kristoff from SI, or for an even cheaper character, Energizer from SI. The matter absorption power could be used to simulate Rex charging up objects around him to use as weapons or even just plain destroying objects around him with his explosions.

for the 7th character, Shrinking Ray on a Vet Atom (Origin) would be easy, but I'd probably go with something like Bulletproof (though his dial should be similar to Invincible's, so another Captain Marvel, Jr, or maybe Invincible or Omni-Man from the Invincible Pack) or Darkwing (OOTS Batman or even the Spot dial)

Robotman or M-11 could work for Robot, though either really need a click of Leadership and Outwit to be accurate as Robot. Hector Hall or Nekron have many of the needed powers, but both of those have big discrepencies, as well.

Swapping out Dupli-Kate for a character that didn't make it in the 7th slot (above) would probably work too.

I think

Invincible
Shapesmith
Immortal
Rex Splode
Shrinking Ray
Darkwing
Monster Girl

would be a good set, and there are some pretty good dials out there for them.

Superfly
10/27/2010, 22:36

A 7 figure set?

Clearly there's but one choice for me; The 7 Soldiers of Victory.
And I'm going to milk it by squeezing extra sculpts & 4 generations of the team into one box. Gotta make those 7 slots count you know....;)

1) Shining Knight - on his winged horse Victory.
2) Green Arrow* - Golden Age costume, sans stupid starfish mask....
3) The Star-Spangled Kid & Stripesy - a duo fig.
4) The Crimson Avenger (in spandex, with Wing {who shall NOT be named on the dial for comic/historical accuracy} - another Duo.
---------------------------------------------------------
5) Shining Knight II
---------------------------------------------------------
6) Mister Miracle {Shilo Norman, in his correct costume}
---------------------------------------------------------
7) TNT & Dan the Dyna-Mite - another duo.

*Actually, for Green Arrow? Just a replacement head sculpt would suffice.
Wich would free up a slot for either a single based Vigilante with lasso/pistol(s) OR the Crimson Avenger in a red duster (as seen in a JL animated episode or two)

Why, DP7 of course! It was my favorite in the New Universe! I wished Marvel would have kept it alive!

From Wikipedia:

Randy O'Brien[1], nicknamed Antibody, was a medical resident who could project from his body a dark figure of himself (also called an "antibody", a word play on the medical term) that flew, could become intangible, and transfer its host's (O'Brien's) memories to another person by physical contact; antibodies could also share their experiences with O'Brien upon returning to his body. At the beginning of the series, O'Brien could only project and within limits control one of these entities. After the original was destroyed, five antibodies manifested themselves and gradually developed their own personalities. Later he developed even more antibodies, as well as the ability to "wear" an antibody like a bodysuit, granting him most of the antibody's powers (except for intangibility) and effectively disguising himself as one of his "swarm" of antibodies. Shortly before the series ended, O'Brien became trapped inside the "skin" of an antibody when he was hit by Pitt-Juice. The antibodies he subsequently created were much smaller, only a few inches tall. The Caucasian O'Brien and the African American Charlotte Beck had an off-and-on romantic attraction, but Randy's upbringing instilled a sort of aversive racism in him that left him uncomfortable with the idea of a relationship with a black woman; later, when he became an antibody himself, the somewhat shallow Beck did not want to date him because of his altered appearance.

David Landers, nicknamed Mastodon, was a cheese factory worker who became stronger as new muscles grew into his body, an effect that caused him great pain. He had a crush on Stephanie, but felt that a relationship between then would be hopeless. He was drafted into the military, but went AWOL.

Jeff Walters, nicknamed Blur, was a fast food restaurant manager whose body vibrated so fast that he could not stand still. He required vast amounts of food for his accelerated metabolism and could also move at superhuman speed. He was drafted into the Army's Paranormal Platoon and participated in The War.

Charlotte "Charly" Beck, nicknamed Friction, was a dance student who acquired the power to make herself, anything she touched, and any other object she thought about within a limited range friction-free enough to make the object or person slide effortlessly. Over time, Beck learned to make her power object-specific or to increase friction to stick things together, and during The Draft became a special CIA operative, but her program was discontinued.

Dennis "Scuzz" Cuzinski was a teenage dropout who produced a corrosive substance from his skin, which he himself was immune to. He could increase his skin's production of the chemical, to the point of burning through a steel plate in ten seconds, but could not stop it, turning anything he wore into a tattered ruin within days and affecting other objects such as bedsheets and furniture that he came in regular contact with. He learned to form his chemical-laden saliva with his skin secretion into "gobs" or "spitballs" that he could throw, and was later able to further increase production of the substance temporarily when angry or excited, making his body so caustic that it could incinerate flammable material on contact. By the end of D.P. 7, he became a member of the Cult of the White Event, which believed that paranormal powers were a gift from God, and attempted to stop the Cure, another paranormal who'd acquired the power to remove others' paranormalities. The others stopped Scuzz from killing the Cure, but not without Scuzz succeeding in severely burning the Cure's hands through which his power had to be projected. As a result of the failed attempt, Scuzz became powerless, but was still accepted by the Cult because of the circumstances of his power loss.

Stephanie Harrington, initially nicknamed Viva but later known as Glitter, was a housewife and mother of three who had the power to heal and energize others by physical contact. The use of this power was accompanied by the appearance of twinkling stars and when not used internalized itself to make Harrington superhumanly strong. She eventually became divorced from her husband who had placed her in the Clinic and was recruited into the CIA during The Draft. Her husband agreed to take her back, but only because he secretly wanted her to cure him of HIV.

Lenore Fenzl, nicknamed Twilight, was a retired Latin teacher whose body constantly produced "fatigue-poison inducing bioluminescence" that could paralyze and render unconscious individuals exposed to it. The amount of time would depend on how long one was exposed, and individuals with accelerated metabolisms like Walters would slow to normal speed. Fenzl's power required her to remain covered over her entire body at all times, and she later discovered that exposing others to her bioluminescence renewed her youth and vitality. After leaving the Clinic for the second time she became a special CIA agent during The Draft. She was killed some time later on a mission.

People are so ridiculous when it comes to Red Son. It was great, but a 7 figure set? Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Bizarro... but then after that the characters are pretty much the same old things that we've had. A normal Wonder Woman, Lex, and Brainiac.

Unless we can get Stalin... then I'm in for the gimmick.

I took the Authority.

I really feel like these packs should contain figures from books and publishers that we don't regularly see clix from. Wildstorm and Vertigo are not represented almost at all in Clix form. Let's get some of these smaller books some love.

I haven't read Superman for All Seasons, I'll have to check that one out.

Definitely. Another great story on one of the best Superman stories you can find. Those are my top three. Superman: Birthright is probably next on my list of favorites. Hopefully the new Superman: Eath One book will be as good as everyone expects it to be, too.

As cool as the character designs on Red Son may be, they're basically the same super-powered archetypes they've always been. I'd like to see some radically different characters like the ones in Earth X.
Archangel Steve Rogers, Richards in Doom armor that doesn't stretch, the Daredevil, Officer Parker, Venom, Mar-vell Universe, the Spiders Man, Iron Maiden, the Skull, Madame Hydra, there are so many choices.

Allinone
10/29/2010, 13:47
Justice League of America! I'll take either the Silver Age founding members or the Grant Morrison founding members.

Youngblood? Don't you have some lines to read? :p

I know, I know....but then I was at the Image Booth at New York Comic Con a couple of weeks ago and they had this giant wraparound mural of all the founding Image books into the current ones and it just made me remember all the characters I loved when I was 12/13 years old. Youngblood takes me back, what can I say.

And don't tell me you don't love Bedrock at the very least....

So, we get 3 Marvel options, 1 (lame) DC option, and 1 other series option?

Wow...I so voted "Other".

Give me Teen Titans how they should be, not the rookie Crisis ones.

Give me Justice Society All Stars.

Give me Justice Society International (based on the new series).

You could've come up with better DC options.

Saint Evil
10/29/2010, 15:21
Which character dials would you put them on?

hmmm
Shredder should be doppelganger
Raphael could be Karate Kid
Leonoardo could be Batman from justice league set
Michaelangel could be Legacy Joker exp (cuz hes so crazy)
Donatello could be Black Panther from avengers
Master Splinter would be Mister Miracle and Oberon
April O'Neil would be Lois lane

Thats my best guess, but i'd rather make custom dials to be more comic accurate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should win it, but we'll see

Easy. I want a DC Western Hero set.

Nighthawk
Cinnamon
Scalphunter
Bat Lash
El Diablo
Original Johnny Thunder
Jonah Hex

Maybe if other people can remember some others, Jonah can be dropped, since he's been done (twice), and Nighthawk & Cinnamon could be a duo.

It almost breaks my heart to see Earth X near the bottom... with all the look-alike sculpts and such coming out every set, I would pay top-dollar to see Flag-toga Cap, balding Cyclops, Megazord Iron Man, and flabby welfare Spidey. And I DEFINITELY gotta get me some 225+ pt. celestial destruction Black Bolt. Man, that book was CRAZY.

I was the same age when it came out, but the only Youngblood books I ever picked up were the two X-Force x-over books. Liefeld did sign a Youngblood poster for me at a convention in 1995. I think it was a rather large promotion poster for Youngblood v.2. It has close ups of each of the main character's faces. I wonder if I still have it...

I voted for Earth X, but I would also like to add that I also would like to vote other for special teams like The Exemplars:
Bedlam
Carnivore
Conquest
Decay
Inferno
Stonecutter
Tempest

and

Salem Seven:
Brutacus
Gazelle
Hydron
Reptilla
Thornn
Vakume
Vertigo

This way you could have larger teams in sets while the characters they're associated with like Juggernaut, Nicolas Scratch/Agatha Harness, etc. are in the following 60-clix set so they don't take up too many slots.

I voted for Superman Red Son... but i will prefer All Star Superman. Best comic ever!

Wombatboy
10/30/2010, 14:22
I originally voted "Earth X" but that was before I realized these would just be sculpts and not dials (yes, I answered the question on the main page without reading the details in the comments section, my bad). Change my vote to Red Son Superman. Since the powers and abilities of those characters are pretty much the same as their normal versions you could just pop a "Red Son" version of a character onto an old dial and have a figure ready to play!

10/31/2010, 12:50
A nice Superman Enemy set would be my choice I guess.

Lex (Battle armor or business suit. I'd love either.)
Brainiac
Metallo
Silver Banshee
Toyman
General Zod
Parasite

Most of them need remakes badly and the all of them could at least do with different versions than the ones we have. Maybe throw in a Kryptonite special object just for fun.:devious:

MattPetersen
10/31/2010, 17:27
As an observation.....it really is quite something that there is such a huge demand for Red Son and yet Wizkids has not made a single figure from that storyline.
To me it makes sense to deliver because IF they need a/ or want a Superman in most sets, why not make it an alternate form so at least everyone can be happy its not just a remake but a new character.

As you can probably tell, I voted Red Son.
