http://www.gridreality.com/images/halloween2010_200w.jpg (http://www.gridreality.com/#halloween2010)Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, next to Christmas. That fact, coupled with the fact that members have us to make a "Hell" map ... and we give you the Center of the Earth.
It's a map with lots of elevated and very little blocking and no hindering, except what you provide with your own objects. Now one thing you will notice is that there are no starting areas. There is a reason for this. You can link these maps with themselves to make huge maps. So you the players decide where your starting areas should be!
We are only making this Special Edition map available through Halloween; so be sure to get it now!

Is it available printed? Or does anyone have recommendations on how/where to print it? Want this more than any GridReality map yet!

I printed it off in tile format, trimmed the white edges, taped the tiles together and had the whole thing laminated. You can see the finished product here (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=727&pictureid=12811).

Office Supply stores. Although they will more than likely cost a pretty penny, check around the realms there are some members with Large Format Printers who might be able to give you a deal...or you can do what Signwriterz did:

This is how I play test all our maps and this is how I have printed off more than 80% of my map collection...Just take your time. By taking the file to an office supply store in tiled format when they have a sale or you have a coupon you can sometimes get all 15 pages printed for about 6-8 bucks.
thanks! Glad everyone likes the free map!

I take my maps to a local Teacher/School Supply store. They do laminating for $3 a foot. This is not heavy grade, hard plastic laminating, like you would do to an ID card, but it more than suffices.
I've had about 6 maps laminated in this fashion and it works great. The maps still roll nicely even when laminated.

Quick question - How/Why would you sell out of a map? Should you just place printing orders/print them out and sell them.

We have to do very large Print Runs for it to be economical for you guys to be able to afford. To do another print run for lets say 40 maps to fill some orders would put the map price to high to be worth it.
The first map we did was a "Limited Edition" Map limited to only 500.
Underground Lair was created when Wizkids closed it's doors. We did a small print run on that one of 200 because we weren't sure if it would sell. We may revisit that map in the future, but as of right now...I would probably just do another version of it. We already have the next few packs scheduled and designed. We will see what people request as for the sold out maps....if you can rally enough people together ...then maybe!

Will an office supply store print a map on 24x36 and on nice paper?
(And I suddenly remember that I have an uncle-in-law who owns a printing store...)

As long as they have a large format printer...which most do now. It will be on really nice paper and usually have a slight gloss to it...for printing it they may even give u a discount on laminating it.

I printed 6 of these for our venue. We put them all together and had a giant battle royal. It was awesome!

Wow, so I totally appreciate what you're able to do for us now! Just called Staples for an estimate, and they said $48 to print that map on medium-grade paper! Time to settle for home printed and taped together, methinks!
We're really pleased that everyone likes this map; and the downloads that been off the charts! (almost 900 last I checked) We know everyone likes free stuff; but we're also pleased at how many purchased maps this time around as well! These are the types of things that make us keep putting maps out ... so be sure to tell your friends; and help support HCRealms and GridReality!

I like how the map can link with itself with all the maps facing the same way or by rotating some 180. Very versatile.

That was the plan! Thanks. And as Typhon said, thanks for all your support! It's what keeps us pumping the maps out!
I will post photos of the maps we will be giving out to New Guys who come to our New Guy Day (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5085311#post5085311) this Saturday. If you are in or near Myrtle Beach, SC come by & play.

I am printing mine on photo paper and it looks amazing!
Lamination will be a must.
With the latest map pack ordered this past Saturday it's terrific to have yet another (this time a freebie) one added. I've printed out the pages and it looks very sharp. I may be trimming and assembling it this afternoon.
Thanks!
Question: Where are the starting areas? I don't see any purple on the map but I guess that helps with being able to us multiple copies for a larger map.

Was there really too much text in the OP to bother reading?

Starting areas weren't put in so not to take away from the "connectivity" of the map. I always follow "old outdated rules" for starting areas. 2 squares in from the sides and bottoms/tops of the maps.

Awesome Pictures. Thanks for the Pictures. If you have time adding them to the Wizkids Facebook page and our Grid Reality Page would be a plus! It would also give you some exposure for your venue!
Thanks a lot and I am glad everyone had a great time!
love that you offer all of these maps to us faster than NECA/Wizkids could ever offer us. Whatever happened to the days of DC Map Pack or Marvel Map Pack? Boy, i know i dont like waiting for each new expansion pack to come out just to get one new map. Thank you for giving us more battlefield options to choose from. Its great to know you guys are here to help us fellow gamers enjoy HeroClix more and more.

Yeah Map Packs were nice...probably a little costly with everything involved in them, plus they were 36x36 adding to their cost.
At least Brightest Day was a double sided map!
Just a reminder that we'll be taking the download link offline tonight/tomorrow (whenever the rest of the world if done with October 31). :) Thanks for the great 'turnout'!
