Who did better? Or is it market value?
I'd say it was a pretty good deal for the buyer. @ about $32.00 per figure, that is a lot of high end figures for a good price. If someone was to take the time to sell those figures individually, they could make a pretty penny on them.
I (conservatively) estimated that you could get about $1400~$1500 for them all if sold individually.

I'd call that lot at that price a bargain. Granted, ponying up $1,100 for three dozen figures isn't something that just anyone is going to do. But one could potentially double one's investment simply by turning around and relisting the whole lot as individual auctions.
I estimated the lot is worth about $1500. The winner did good, but not that great especially having to put out about $1150 with shipping. The return is certainly way more than the stock market, but there are much better deals on ebay based on return

While there are investment gurus who sneer at the notion that "It takes money to make money," here's a pretty good example of why it does...Just my two cents.
Who did better? Or is it market value?
In the words of the late George Hanson, lawyer to Capt. America, "These ain't no pork chops --- these are U.S. Prime!"
And there's a whole lot more of 'em here than Superman Prime! I rate it a better deal for the buyer.

Yeah I was looking at this auction, too. I knew it'd go for a grand easily. Still seems like a good deal, though.
Then again, you're shelling out 1150 bones for miniature plastic figures, which when you put it like that sounds asinine. But damn it, we love those plastic figures!

Why do I have this feeling that there is someone with a stolen collection, wondering where their clix could be.
If I had that much money to spend I would buy it for that amount. There would be some that I would keep, then some that I would sell to get some money back.

Sounds to me like the possible makings of a new thread.
Given the whole kit and kaboodle, which ones would YOU keep?

Yup. I was a trading fool during the hiatus.
You have every other figure on that list?
Why would you be surprised that some people would have almost every clix ever made?

Some people just don't have that completist bug (I sure don't anymore), or simply cannot afford to be one. Though, I'm not surprised by it.
For me, I'd probably keep the Chases from that list, and sell off the rest. But then, I might not even keep the 'Golden Age' Chases, just the 'Modern Age' ones.
Since I just sold off all of my KC figures, I wouldn't keep any of them. I don't need any of the SR or Uniques, so I wouldn't keep them either.
If I'd bought that lot, I probably could have sold off enough, that I'd have come out 'even'. IE kept what I wanted from it, and have it cost me $0.00 out of pocket.
Yeah, looking at that list again, there is only 12 figures I would have for sure kept. The rest would have been re-sold ASAP.

I own every figure on that list, and then some!!!
Matter of fact, about the only Clix I'm missing from my collection are the NYC ToyFair Black Wolverine, Masterpiece Spidey, Masterpiece Batman, Masterpiece MODOK, and Masterpiece Ultimates Magneto.

Once upon a time, aside from a few LE's...I had every piece from Infinity Challenge to Collateral Damage except for five. C'est la vie.
...and yes, that buyer got a deal in my opinion, and I undervalue several of the pieces on that list!

Well, I guess I'll know better next time than to give any input to conversations I'm not asked to join...

The buyer pretty much always wins on ebay. After ebay fees and paypal fees they definitely are not netting what the final price was. I mean we all have to figure that the difference between paypal/ebay fees, but the ease of selling on a site that has millions of potential buyers should net out, in this case it is a bigger loss for the seller IMO.
I mean you couldn't have taken this lot of figs and sold them anywhere else and gotten that kind of money. Not happening on here, and an actual B&M store isn't going to give that amount of $ for them. But still they are taking a loss for the fees. Guess it's the price you pay.
Wow. When I saw that price, I thought for sure the buyer overpaid. After doing some quick math of just the figures I'm familiar with, the buyer comes out ahead, and I was being conservative on the value I placed on the figures.
While the seller probably could have gotten more by selling individually, I would be thrilled with that ending price and having to only worry about one large auction instead of lots of small ones. Even though the buyer got the better end of the deal, I would ultimately say that it was pretty even.
You have every other figure on that list?
:) :) :)
