The vacuum that is HCRealms

It seems with all the posts that say this SUCKS and that SUCKS that a vacuum is being created SUCKING in most interesting, creative, or humorous posts. I remember a time, not so long ago that HCRealms was a gathering place, or community if you will, that people like myself, Iron Angel, Meepo, double_a, tsanick, azs, Beetle, Melkoloran, MrFlantastic, Heylady/Stimpy, and even Lewd_Squirrel (may he rest in piece) among others would get together and laugh and compliment each other.

I used to spend HOURS on these boards just having a good time. Now I do work 10+ hours most days but when I get home and go on the boards all I see is This fig SUCKS. This rule SUCKS. This poster SUCKS. or Can I Outwit someone in Stealth? Can I use Running Shot with RCE?

As far as the rules questions go. I do not have a problem with people not understanding something. The problem I have is people that are too lazy to use the resources at hand to answer their question before posting it for the millionth time. The resources I am talking about are the Rulebook, FAQs, and a search of these boards.

For all you Newbies that do not know of what I am talking about do a search for the Anti Constrictor thread and see the creativity and humor that went into that.

Yes this post is a negative post much like the ones I am complaining about but I do feel that I am not the only one that feels this way.

To anyone that has something negative to say to this I say YOU SUCK! And GO TO the UNDERWORLD of your choice.

To end this on a positive note. JonL you RULE as well as the rest of the staff here at HCRealms and at WizKids.

So lets bring back the funny and less of the SUCKING.

WOW! THAT'S certainley the way to get people to join your cause. The surest way in all of history to garner support is to tell people that if they do NOT agree with you, that they suck. As far as anything else goes, I sure haven't noticed YOU adding anything positive to these forums lately, or anything funny, or even any helpfull advice to those nebiews too " lazy" to find out stuff for themselves. Now, I am calling absolutley NO ONE stupid or anything, but we do NOT all share the same level of intelligence on this earth. and just because someone else finds it difficult to find something that YOU say is easy to find, does not mean they are wasteing all of our times. Just becuase YOU find it easy means NOTHING. I myself find it particularly easy to hit a human sized target at over 1000 yards with a rifle. ( was in the infantry in the marines for quite awhile) but does that mean everyone ELSE finds this task easy?

In short, Lighten up. Just becuase YOU have seen something a million times does not mean that everyone else has, or that no one else enjoys helping others.

As for the group of people you listed, I still see many of them on this board dailey, enjoying themselves. so why can't you? Or would you prefer it if HCRealms were just a small elitest community only for YOUR pleasure?

Yes, this site has been better at times, but the bell curve always bends toward the lowest common denominator the more popular something becomes. The good news, it means there will be plenty of HeroClix for at least the next couple of years. Maybe longer. Now that doesn't SUCK!

Does anyone remember the old Apple Crate (Orange Crate, Grey Ghost, Lemon Peel(?), etc...) bicycles made by Schwinn? I had one. I miss it.

Another bicycle story... My next door neighbor had a plain bicycle with a banana seat. One day, he found an old beat-up bike that was missing both tires. He decided he wanted to make a chopper out of his own bike, so he cut the front forks off the spare bike, removed his front tire, slid the extra forks on his front forks, then attached his tire back on the new extended forks. I have to admit, it looked pretty neat...

Especially when he was riding through his yard and popped a wheelie. The extended forks were just slipped on his forks, so they decided to slip off. Here he was, in the middle of a wheelie, with only a back wheel. And he didn't know it. When he came back down, his front forks came down hard and impaled themselves into the ground, immediately stopping his bike... but not him. He went sprawling over the handlebars and rolling across his front lawn. That was one of the funniest things I saw... and the tire just kept rolling along with the two useless forks still attached.

I know you are asking yourselves right now, "What does this have to do with this thread?" Absolutely nothing, other than I agree with T_D. I miss the humor here. The only thing that sucks here is my Kirby vacuum.

There's a difference in arguing some esoteric rule that only judges would know or an impending FAQ would settle, but how hard is it to look under the rules for RCE and read that it cannot be used with any other power? It says just that: it cannot be used with any other power. It's in black and white. It's not like hitting a target half a mile away with a very specialized weapon. It's reading the English language in print. There's a subtle difference.

It has nothing to do with someone being "lazy" or not. It has to do with basic comprehension skills. If anyone reads the rulebook that accompanies the starter set, easily half the questions posted here would be settled before the computer got turned on. Even discounting that, there's a good chance that any question you might have about the rules has already been discussed recently, and the "Search" feature can be a time saver when it comes to doing your research.

It has nothing to do with being an elitist community. There are always new players who drop in for advice or assistance and there always will be. But the bickering about what fig should have what powers or whether or not Outwit can be used against Stealthed characters gets old fast, at least in my book. I, too, have avoided the realms for the most part because I got tired of hearing the whining and complaining about the powers and the figs. It wasn't fun anymore. HCRealms, once a sheltering haven for me and my fractured psyche, is now only a temporary port in a storm when the Wednesday previews comes out.

Ah, well. Such is life. Flaming resumes in 5... 4... 3...

Yeah, I got kinda tired of the way things were around here, too. A lot of those fun threads were ruined by the same kind of people that start the "This Sucks" threads. I don't really feel like coming to a place like this if I just want to strangle every other person who posts...and this is after we got rid of marrone. ;)

Granted, I got pretty ticked about the Green Lantern LE, but I later conceded some points and won't start 18 threads about how it sucks. Some heated debate is fine here and there, I think...you can't have a community this large without expecting some of that. But the flaming permeates the air here constantly. I think it's a victim of its own success.

So I went elsewhere for my fun, and come back here occasionally to see some news.

But I agree with the St. Louisians being filthy and nasty...just not so much tricky. They're not that smart. (I lived in KC most of my life, btw. ;))

Oh, and glad to see you're still kicking, Iron Angel! :)

Battle formations section
a battle plans section....

So why not have a rant section?.... cuz really, I can understand why some people might get upset, get annoyingly abonoxious, and so forth... But the thing I can't stand is trudging through all this negativity when I am lookig for some info on the new epansion... new powers... whatever. If there needs to be this "Vacuum" (which appearently there is a need) at least give it it's own section so the naysayers have a place to vent...cuz Lord knows we all need to vent sometime or another.

And if there is a section set up for ranting... and we see these rants in other sections, The Mods can either relocate the thread or outright delete them for being in the wrong place.

Random, you ARE good if you think its easy to hit a human-sized target at 1000 yards. If I remember correctly, the maximum effective range of an M-16 is 460 meters. Not calling you a liar or saying its impossible since the maximum range is MUCH higher; its just that you're definitely in the minority if thats an easy shot for you. Personally, I've almost always qualified Expert during my time in the Army, and I would certainly not consider 1000 yards an easy shot in the slightest.

Of course, that could just be because you Marines are so much superior to us. ;)

Records don't always reflect how good a team real is. You maybe 8-0 but some of those wins were pure luck...last second run backs...with out Hall you would be lucky to be 4-4. You're right Green is out and rightfully so for being an idiot...but again I recall last year us racking up 41 points with no running game what so ever. Holcomb is healthy and will be starting. and obviously Johnson isn't our best reciever or we wouldn't bench him...trust me the rest of the recieving crew can step it up and play.

Our rush defense is actually 27th but what is your point...KC's is 24th and if you look at over all defense ours is 7th while yours is 27th...we need a nice soft defense that we can pick apart and get our offense going again. Cleveland wins 35-31

Overall defense stats mean we give up a lot of yards, but you might want to dig a little deeper. We do a lot of bending, but we haven't ever broken.

Our Defense is fourth best in the league for least points allowed (16.2 per game).
Our Defense is sixth in the league at stopping opponents on Third Down.
Our Defense is the best in the NFL at +18 on the giveaway/takeaway while your boys are -3 (18th).

And, on the other side of the ball, our Offense leads the NFL in points scored per game at 30.8, you guys are managing only 14.4 (putting you at 31st out of 32 teams).
Our Offense is 7th in the league overall, yours is 29th.

So, you can call our defense soft if you want to -- most people call it 'underrated'. And, I bet it'll be enough to stop your guys from scoring.

The offense is also why our takeaway ratio is so bad...they keep coughing up the ball. But if our offense ever gets going they will become one of the best in the league and there is nothing that your 'underrated' defense will be able to do about it.

Problem with your theory is this:
The score you predicted requires that your team score 5 touchdowns. Kelly Holcomb has only thrown 5 touchdowns this season, and James Jackson hasn't run for any.

Priest Holmes has run for as many TDs this season as the entire Browns team combined. Trent Green has thrown for as many TDs as the entire Browns offense has scored, combined. Dante Hall has returned twice as many kicks for TDs as the Browns have rushed for them.

What's more, the Chiefs have only allowed 14 touchdowns in 8 games. That's an average somewhere less than 2 per game. And of those 14, 3 were from Denver when they were healthy and 3 from Green Bay at Lambeau Field.

In other words, the most TDs anyone has put on the board against them in single game came when they met the then 4-0 Broncos who were playing with Jake Plummer and Clinton Portis, and when they met the Packers, Brett Favre, and Ahman Green at Lambeau.

In case you haven't already noticed this, I've got news for you:
1) You don't have a quarterback that is the caliber of Jake Plummer (QB rating 92.5), much less Brett Favre (QB rating 91.1) -- Holcomb's QB rating is a mediocre-at-best 67.3 this year ... and the NFL 'average' is well over 75.
2) You don't have a Running Back the caliber of Clinton Portis (3rd best rusher in the League) or Ahman Green (4th best rusher in the League) -- James Jackson (61st in the League -- out of 102 Running Backs) has only carried the ball once in any game you won this year and that was for a whopping three yards.

So what's my prediction? Chiefs 35, Browns 10.

Here are some more predictions:
- The Chiefs will get at least two Interceptions and three sacks. After all, Holcomb's already been intercepted 6 times and sacked 9 in the 5 games he's played this year and he hasn't played against a Defense as tough as KC's on the Giveaway/Takeaway in a place as tough as Arrowhead Stadium.

- If the Browns are foolish enough to kick it to Dante Hall, he will get the NFL record for most kick returns for touchdowns in a single season by running one back on them. The Browns are 9th worst in the NFL on kick returns, and Dante's the best kick return man in the NFL -- possibly ever -- and at the top of the NFL record books by averaging better than 80 yards on each of his 11 career TDs.

- Priest Holmes will rush for 150+ yards, and two TDs. And he'll have over 200+ total yards from scrimmage.

- Tony Gonzalez will catch a TD pass and 60+ receiving yards.

That's how the game will go. Bank on it. :)
